does that include the taxsaver way of buying the ticket?
no. the number above works out at about €1,360/annum – which is the pre-tax amount. So you can knock 20%/40% off that if you get a taxsaver.
If you are on the top rate of tax, that would put the monthly cost at ~$76/month – which isn’t in the top 10.
If you are on the lower rate of tax, that would put the monthly cost at ~$102/month – which would be 8th.
I was about to make the same point – most monthly/yearly ticket users are not paying the full cost.
My annual Dart ticket is costing me about €60 a month – it’s not just tax-free there’s also no PRSI or USC so at top rate you’re only paying 49% of the total cost.
A yearly ticket divided by 12 is not the same as a monthly ticket. They are comparing monthly tickets here.
Other cities may have yearly options too. You can’t compare one 12th of an annual ticket in Dublin to monthly tickets in other cities and adjust the ranking without assessing each city’s annual ticket options.
Good point.

Go Dublin!
Between this and Paddy being the number 1 loser per capita for gambling, we’re finally world leaders
Interesting also that 9 of the 12 are anglophone countries
I’d like to see this re-done considering the quality of the service… Then surely London ‘fares’ better.
Just as well we have the second best public transport system in the world then?
just spent an hour waiting for a bus cause of spice girls
all I want to do is zig a zig them into the sea
