Last night at the RDS Count Centre, from top: Ciaran Cuffe, Frances Fitzgerald with Eoghan Murphy (left) and Kate O’Connell; Mary Lou McDonald (centre) and Lynn Boylan; Taoiseach Leo Varadkar
So, A full weekend of apparently “expert” political comment was based on very inaccurate exit poll results. Just one example is that Ciaran Cuffe got 17.5% while the exit poll had put him on 23%. And there is lots more.

A whole lotta people saying they voted Green Party actually voting FF or FG in Dublin.

Count centres around the country stayed working well into the early hours and are due to open around now.
While none of the country’s 13 MEPs have been so far elected, the Green Party’s Ciaran Cuffe is on course to be the first to cross the line.
Greens set to take first Dublin MEP seat as election counts resume (RTÉ)
so, virtue signalling has extended to the ballot box but more so in responding to pollsters.
how the hell did Fitzgerald do so well? Do people not know what she did? or do they just not care? I think the classic model of ‘the stupid paddy’ rings true around election times.
Dr. Fart I know there were some non-existent emails that were then found and then a phone that was wiped and redistributed. But was there anything more than that ever found? She read an email saying that the Garda legal team and McCabes legal team were at odds with each other. Doesn’t seem like a red flag.
Cheers Leo
Hi Joan! How’s the family?
Dammit.
Caught rotten!
People should say caught rotten more Millie. Most especially in the Dail.
You seen to forget she’s a member of Fine Gael which multiplies any offence by 100 in this parish
I think it doesn’t look very good but I said to a friend “what are people thinking?” and he said that she was found innocent. Which I admit I had forgotten and when I looked up what she was accused of doing it seems that she read an email. Plus the comms that were initially said not to have happened and were then found. Was there something damning in those emails?
“She had to resign because she misrepresented the extent of her knowledge about what went on in 2015, she was slow in answering legitimate questions, her briefing to the Taoiseach saw him mislead the Dáil, and her department failed to discover important documents to the Disclosures Tribunal.”
Thats a quote from an artice by Mick Clifford in the Irish Examiner who I think in fairness knows a bit more about this issue than we do.
Thanks realP! Fair play.
Some voted blindly for her because she’s FG. Some because she’s recognisable.
You wouldn’t know that was her from the election poster.
Yokes.
I was supposed to say yikes. YOKES will do
I warned ye to prepare yerselves for a strong FG vote in Dublin
Also warned ye that She’d be a lot closer to Cuffe in the count than that exit
Which btw
Provided RTÉ nearly 50 hours of content across all their platforms over the weekend
And the whole thing was flakey
At best
Like how could you be that far off with a yes / no collation FFS
The commentary was largely accurate. He still unexpectedly topped the poll and the Green’s have done much better than expected. There is nothing of substance in the commentary that doesn’t still apply.
