They do a quick normal handshake but Trump didn’t seem happy with that. He always has to dominate by pulling or twisting the other guy’s hand so he grabs Leo’s hand a second time as he is drawing it away and gives it a yank and a pat.

Wouldn’t want to mess with that heavy in the sunglasses, even if he weren’t a hulking great bodyguard.

Trump, in the first pic, and Leo, in the third, look like blurry holograms. Wh’appen blud?

  3. eoin

After seeing that awkward greeting of Melania, someone should have a word in Leo’s ear about the convoluted etiquette of the double kiss on the cheeks, which cheek first, who does the kissing etc

    Rule #1, you’re Irish, don’t do it.

          1. ReproBertie

He tried to have a begrudgery fuelled dig at Katie by claiming she said it wasn’t safe to box in Ireland and said that it was not OK for her to say that.

She never said anything even remotely resembling that.

I care because he’s libelling her out of nothing more than jealousy, and maybe a hint of misogyny, and because it’s ridiculous that he can just invent a lie about her and expect to walk away while daily posting about corruption and dishonesty in Irish society.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Repro. Are you really asking this again? It having been answered twice this morning and now you’re twisting it to try suit your some feud or other you want to start with Eoin. Is that the level you’re at?

          3. realPolithicks

I think an intervention is what is called for here, Bodger can you please facilitate a rapprochement between these two fine bs contributors.

          4. ReproBertie

Lilly, Katie didn’t say anything of the sort, that’s why it’s defamatory.

There was a post yesterday showing her arrival in Dublin airport and eoin felt the need to have a go at her so he claimed that she said it wasn’t safe to box in Ireland just so he could attempt to tarnish her success based entirely on his lie.

          5. Lilly

But it’s such an innocuous statement, Repro. If it is to be defamatory, it has to be something that would lower Katie in the eyes of the man on the Clapham omnibus. People would hardly think any less of her if she had said it’s not safe to box here. It seems such a non-issue whether she said it or not.

If Eoin truly wanted to have a go at her, he could surely do better than that.

          6. ReproBertie

That he could have said worse is irrelevant.

He invented a comment so that he could be annoyed about it and he tried to get others to be annoyed about it. He said it wouldn’t be OK for Mick McCarthy to say it wasn’t safe in Ireland to host international matches so it’s not OK for Katie to say it’s not safe to have fight nights. But Katie never said that.

He lied and should withdraw his remarks.

I’m guessing my comment was removed for harassment?

eoin can post endless amounts of unchecked rhetoric and nonsense but you can’t call him up on it?

      1. realPolithicks

So basically you’re saying that you were harassing eoin with your comment but also complaining that it was removed.

Ireland can’t afford to have morals. We all know it. Even you weirdos who live online and think twitter is real life.

American companies keep the lights on. And we all know it. Tug that lightly dyed forelock you non emigrated eejit. And be glad Ireland is a flash on the Fox News ticker.

Only because lazy state sector representatives and politicians have encouraged multi nationals over indigenous industries.

I am not sure what the most open economy in the world actually means but I am certain that plenty within the SME sector whom, if they could without repercussion, would happily take this entire government out and shoot them.

  5. Scundered

Aside from all the political stuff going on, it is really sad to see this couple carry on with a marriage that obviously has no love in it, can it really be worth it for the money? Or is status the attraction?

    1. realPolithicks

Why do you think she married him in the first place, she’s wife number three so she had ample evidence of the kind of person and husband he was likely to be.

      1. scundered

I dunno, it just seems alien to me that it could be worth the money, surely that cannot be better than having a partner you adore… or can it?

    2. Lilly

Who knows, maybe Melania has had a tough life and values security, financial stability over all else. I shudder at the thought of waking up beside him, being faced with him over breakfast let alone anything else.

  6. shayna

Yikes! That was all a tad strong? The American electorate voted for Trump – they got him. In my granny’s house there was a picture of JFK – right next to a picture of The Sacred Heart – I’m guessing everyone’s granny has similar? I’m not so sure Trump’s image will fill country walls?

    1. SOQ

The American electorate voted for Trump

Actually no they didn’t. Trump lost the popular vote and by his own admission was assisted into office by Russian coercion.

    2. Nigel

Wait till you hear what some of the local commenters say about the Taoiseach. Amazing that the sacred state of having been elected doesn’t make their detractors vanish in a puff of disrespecting democracy.

    1. Mickey Twopints

Are you certain? I have it on good authority that they’re Vermicious Knids.

  7. George

Trump doled out his uninformed advice that nobody asked for by explaining “I think it (Brexit) will all work out very well, and also for you with your wall, your border”.

Leo had to respond with “the main thing we want avoid is any kind of wall”

He then explains to us all “Ireland is going to be in great shape” after Brexit whether there is a deal or not. Thanks for clearing that up, Donald.

    1. George

He didn’t even bothered to learn the word “Taoiseach” despite two meetings this year.

To remember it he just has to imagine Leo getting a fright while trying to have a cuppa which shouldn’t be hard as that is basically what happens when the Taoiseach sits down with Trump.
