An Raibh Sé Seo?

The Randalstown pensioner was ordered to remove the sign by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council by today.

It was placed on railings outside her home in the mainly nationalist Ashdale estate by her granddaughter Medb Ní Dhúláin….Gleann na Fuinseoige’ is the Irish For Ashdale….

Ms Ní Dhúláin last night stressed that her stance is not political or linked to any other controversies.

Council tells pensioner (85) she faces prosecution over Irish language sign (Irish Times)

Randalstown Irish language sign ‘will not be removed’ (The Irish News)

NI is a lost cause . childish tit for tat on one end of the scale, murder on the other, boring all the way though. They are both at fault and deserve each other. Sectarianism is their identity up there. Smart people move away. the losers stay, some morons actually move up there. We don’t need to hear about these stupid stories down here.

      Close your eyes.
Imagine the future: A United Ireland.

The DUP would be 3rd largest party in the Dáil!

      Great point.

They’re both as bad as each other – like ’60s Alabama.

Thankfully, the nation stops at Monaghan, so we don’t need to think about it.

Bit harsh. But for an accident of geography you’re family could have been on the other side of that border.
I never had time for the North but after working with a colleague from up there and hearing the hundreds of little (and big) humiliations they have endured and continue to endure, I’m considerably more sympathetic for people up there, with a strong bias of course for what people who call themselves Irish have had to put up with.
My colleague complains about people in Ireland going on about the injustices in Israel and the occupied territories while never giving a second thought to almost 100 years of injustices and human rights abuses just up the M1.
      He has a point.

He doesn’t have a point . Most Palestinians with no interest in national politics were born into an open air prison ,trapped, and cant emigrate. Nordies can, and those with a bit of sense do. Each side are proud of their heritage even though each side has nothing to be proud about.. Nordies who identity as Loyalists or Nationalists are both tossers. National identity went out with WW1 . The silly 100 yearold auld wan who stuck up this stupid Irish sign is a bigot who knew what she was doing, the uggo in the picture is a bigot and the council are bigots. get it ? Northern Irish are biggoted idiots, sectarian , homophobic and racist, behind the times on social norms by 50 years, a population that allows itself to be controlled by vicars , priest and organized criminals. Their only culture is sectarianism and supermarkets. The place is a kip. a leach welfare state and an embarrassment to Britain and ROI and now with Brexit, its only going to get worse.

        1. Sham Bob

‘National identity went out with WW1’ – that statement is so blatantly bone-headed as to not deserve a rebuttal. If you think you can put your fingers in your ears and enjoy the post-modern journey to the future we’re on in the South, utterly unaffected by what happens in the North, then you’re in for some major disappointment. Them supermarkets are coming to get ya.

At least they don’t have this ‘I’m alright Jack’ attitude such as the one on display from yourself. We get our Republic after killing off our idealists, and apart from some posturing, we pull up the ladder after ourselves and shake our heads at them up there. How insufferably smug.

        1. Sham Bob

Never heard of the civil war? It’s had no small influence on our politics since. I’m assuming you and postman pat are the same person, there’s hardly 2 such Sindo hack-fans online at the same time using the exact same phrases.

You sound like the posh Dublin southsider teenagers I used to know in school going through a nationalism phase before they discovered girls , grew up and learned to live and let live.

“They are both at fault and deserve each other. ”

That is wonderful because it means that you don’t have to think or act.

We all know that the victims always bring it on themselves.

      1. postmanpat

So you’d get involved in settling a dispute between a 84 year old bigot catholic granny and the council? The boot knew what she was doing , the sign was to seek attention and ultimately drum up tension. An old wind breaker with nothing to lose playing very cavalier game where tensions rise to murderous levels very quickly, But this crone wont be affected. oh no. Your right, victims often don’t bring these thing on themselves, young victims especially. Its the older generation that causes the trouble.I think all the young people should move away for a generation and let the old farts with nothing better to do finish each other off with zimmer frames and projectile werther’s originals. Its pathetic that this Henry V vs the RCC crap is still going on. Young people need to steer well clear of it.

The unionists still haven’t realised that the Supremacy is over. They need to start to engage with their neighbours.

  3. Scundered

Deliberately inflammatory, now she’ll be a target for the inflammatory folk on the other side of the fence. Idiot.

    1. Kolmo

Who is inflamed by the Irish language?

Only insecure and culturally illiterate people is who.

          1. Al Bin Man

The council costs money to run you silly billy

A public funded employee had to go out and deal with that attention seeking harridan
