But today sees the results of The Kepak National Burger Day awards.

Via National Burger Day:

Today Callan Qualter, Rory McCormack and Cathal O’Connor from Handsome Burger were announced as winners at the National Burger Day awards ceremony in Dublin.

Galway locals Rory, Callan and Cathal  flipped their way past 500 other burger outlets  to victory as Kepak, the sponsor of National Burger Day, announced that the gourmet burger restaurant, Handsome Burger, is officially home to the best burger in Ireland

Do they hand mince actual cuts of ribeye steak to make their pattys?

If not then they can jog on.

If so, then I must pop in.

My home is home to the best burger in Ireland – the others are simply playing ketch-up.

See my reply above. Mate made some for a barbecue a few years back and they ruined every other burger for me since.

      Pricey, but nice.

The rib-eye has just the right amount of fat too. I’ve recently gone from making lamb (in a pitta) to pork burgers and the latter are the best-tasting of the three meats – i.e. most widely available meats in Ireland. Pairs better with mustard and gherkin.

@Spaghetti Hoop – Mmmm sounds good, although haven’t had an actual ham burger in some time.

@Al Bin Man – You’re damn right and you’re welcome. Stick with me and I’ll have you drinking kale and quinoa brandy, eating miniature pig eye’s on a stick and wearing old USSR flag socks.

          Because, irony. Or something?

At 5pm Wed, the National Burger Day website is empty. Poor form from whoever is doing the marketing.

The National Burger Day award. Promoted by big strong men- all of which would not eat the components of the average burger if cooked and presented as was, even if they were paid.

Also, what is it with country fellas and skinny jeans these days? They’re called skinny for a reason- that means not having an ass like the back end of your tractor.
