I love your use of words !
But,seriously, if an Irish ‘bh’ is a ‘v’ sound, why don’t you write it with a ‘v’ ?
Of course, Bernard Shaw pointed out that in English, the word ‘Fish’ could be spelled G-H-O-T-I https://t.co/HcUkQRRd1V

He’s clearly a jolly good poo-stirrer. Best off ignoring his British nationalistic outbursts. I’m surprised the Rubberbandits responded – I thought they were too cool to get riled up this.
Whatever gave you that idea?
I can picture him cackling merrily to himself for sure
I love your use of words…. but not your use of the letters in them. Sheesh…. F off Jon.
He’ll be dead soon, and this will all be forgotten about.
Cruel.
No more so than this, surely.

I don’t mean it to be cruel. The whole thing is much ado about nothing, as the English would say.
thatcher died not knowing her own name..
Not cruel.
But of course, we could also add that ‘mh’ can be a ‘v’ sound or a ‘w’ sound, depending on where you are from. Making Eibhlín equally accurate as ‘Evelyn’ or ‘Eyeleen’, depending on where you are from.
Should we also point out to Mr Englishman that is was the English themselves who developed the method of spelling in Irish using Latinic letters, specifically so thy could pronounce the words? Prior to them, Irish was primarily a spoken language.
Ok, that was a bit disjointed and not fully sensible or accurate. Apologies, not enough caffeine yet :)
In fairness, John has always been a stickler when it comes to language
