“An Overwhelming Fact”

Former Bessborough Mother and Baby Home in Cork; a memorial created by the artist Jill Dinsdale in the grounds at Bessborough last weekend

Following on from the Mother and Baby Homes Commission concluding that more than 900 children died in the former Bessborough Mother and Baby Home in Cork or in a hospital after being transferred from Bessborough…

And the commission only being able to establish the burial place of 64 of those children…

Fergus Finlay writes in today’s Irish Examiner:

It’s very hard to understand why members of the order have not, at this stage, been interviewed by the gardaí.

Campaigners have in the past called for the area being demolished to be treated as a crime scene, and that too is easy to understand.

If you stop for a minute and just think, it’s an overwhelming fact that an order of nuns, funded by the State, has disposed of hundreds of dead babies and is unwilling to tell anyone where they are.

How? Why? What are they hiding? What are they ashamed of?

Sisters, for the love of God — tell us where the Bessborough babies are (Fergus Finlay, The Irish Examiner)

When Fergus was special advisor to Dick Spring In Iveagh House -‘they’ discovered hundreds of files seeking passports to send children abroad pre and post adoption law. I wish someone would ask Fergus what he did about it. Is there a single memo from him raising any question about the export of babies in the Departments records ?

home rule = Rome rule. Exchange one master for another. Stupid Paddy!! But it’s in the past now, theirs never going to be justice for the 900. we should be more concerned with the horrible stuff the RCC is pulling in the lesser reported world this very minute. I wish for the day the Irish Government publicly denounces the RCC as a foreign invader and tell them they have to leave , take their assets. Make an international spectacle out of it, the rest of the world might catch on.

Fergus Finlay is the definition of pigs in the trough. Hes made a tidy living of the state, the same state that outsources critical social services to chariites.
Every once in awhile Fergus appears on tv or in the papers aghast at the latest revelation about child abuse.

Last time i checked he was on a nice 6 figure some at barnados. Hes worked in this sector for 30 years. Are we to beleive he never knew what went on in these institutions? Or does Fergus know who butters his toast each morning?

      + 1

Was he one of the people whose charity footed the bill for a campaign to get elected to the Seanad. Maybe I’m confusing him with someone else.
