International delegates at @DublinVelo2019 are clearly shocked at cycling conditions in our city. They ask how can our political system tolerate such poor transport design, which discourages all but the very brave to cycle. #VC19 #Cyclingfortheages #Dublin pic.twitter.com/lSBSZGL6EM

so…when is the danger bit?
I noticed that they recently put those little barriers along the cycle lane outside the custom house and turned it to 24 hr no parking bike lane but still use the lane as a bus terminus for coaches.
Video conveniently cuts off when the cycle lane is clear and the cyclist heads into the normal traffic lane.
Eamonn must be opening another cycle shop?
Cycling in Dublin is a joke. I know people who’ve moved here from cycle-centric international cities who simply refuse to cycle in Dublin because of (i) how dangerous it is; and (ii) how shocking motorists’ attitudes are towards cyclists.
What a surprise that we’re used as the EU’s #1 illustrative example of sh*te city planning year-on-year and we’re currently the slowest, most congested capital city in the EU.

Is Ireland the only country at Velo19 whose VAT rate on bikes, bike accessories (eg helmets) and bike repairs is the highest possible rate, 23%, while the VAT on fossil fuels is 13.5% and the government zero rates or applies a lower VAT rate to
sectors where Denis O’Brien has an interestessential or socially desirable goods and services.Fake news.
VAT on petrol is 23%.

Can you show where all other 18 countries have zero or reduced rate VAT on bikes etc.?
Are you aware that the bike to work scheme allows you claim back your income tax on a new bike and associated gear? A saving of up to 52%?
…Eamon Ryan ha ha ha …
Dontcha hate people who ride Brompton foldies… get a a decent European road bike, especially if your work is paying for it…
If only the Glasraí could get into government and do something about it. Just like the last time.
