Wasn’t planning to get into it. All year round there are invisible nasties.

On the plus side, ‘Dublin Bay prawns’ are farmed / caught nowhere near Dublin Bay so your cocktails and paella are safe.

Irish Sea, Celtic Sea and Atlantic. The Dublin Bay term is associated with the harbour (Howth) where they are dropped. Yes, nasties still in the Irish Sea (NW prawn grounds). So we will look forward to the EPA, IW and BIM / Safe Food reports addressing the impacts on shell-fish. In 2025 probably.

And Limerick ham isn’t always from Limerick – and limerick writers come from everywhere.

Interestingly, the Dublin Bay Prawn is the exact same species as the Norway Lobster and the French Langoustine. Just named differently depending on where it’s landed and eaten.

You have to hand it to the Irish Water people for sanitising their corporate incompetence (which at this stage must be verging on criminality) with all the names they come up with for the pee and poo that THEY are flushing from THEIR plant into OUR waterways. The above isn’t pee or poo, it isn’t even “activated sludge”, it’s “excess storm water”.

I never noticed that. They must have a flow chart (flow charts are the thing these days, I hear).

      In case of sewage spillage:
      Did it rain?
      Yes – Excess Storm Water
      No – Activated Sludge

‘Activated sludge’ sounds like it should have it’s own evil lair and an obnoxiously fluffy white cat.

Is that place still going? I lived local and they used to throw the best private parties for in town music people- if walls could talk.

Obnoxiously fluffy brown cat. Or an obnoxiously fluffy white cat with brown skidoos all over it!

Maybe Poo-tin had a hand in this – activating his sludge to take down our democracy

You yell, “Barracuda,” everybody says, “huh, what?” You yell “Floating poo,” we’ve got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July.”

Thing is, all of this was well known long before the metering project ever commenced. The polluter pays principle- remember that? A slogan used to blame the general public while the vast majority of water was lost on the network AND where sewage was being pumped into the sea.

‘The polluter pays principle’ is actually where the EU fines member states for not getting their act together- like Ireland.

I am certain this irritates Jerry Grant (MD-IW) as much as the rest of us because in the first speech I heard from him some years ago highlighted this problem but- he has his hands tied.

Where is the political vision? It must come top down- from government- with funding. It’s a disgrace, it cannot continue.
