I will refrain from being less than generous and simply express my hope that he recovers.

I hope anyone with an ounce of humanity can do the same. He has a wife and kids who must be beside themselves at this time.

      1. Yep

If that weak joke was made about a person on the Jeremy Kyle show nobody would make a fuss. In fact, people would be on the side of the people trying to convince him to change his lifestyle.

A man we all know for the wrong reasons deserves some level of reverence and respect though. Even after he recently admitted they were rolling the dice at the time of the crash. At the time he was Minister of Finance. Which led to countless lives being destroyed.

I hope he recovers. I hope his family don’t have to deal with that pain. At the same time, I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t and refuse to pretend I’m above it all because once mortality comes into it, well, we must be respectful. Joke shop country/attitude.

Joe, so had lots of people who committed suicide directly as a result if his his political leadership. While I don’t wish him ill, I’ll not shed any tears on his behalf.

          1. McVitty

Sorry there Cian but in suicide, people kill themselves. It is a violent act that does not need to be softened.

Honestly Millie, even starting off a post with that intent is a disgrace. Just flip off and say nothing.

          1. millie st murderlark

Because as a politician, I greatly dislike him. But I also have huge sympathy for his family, and sincerely wish him a quick recovery.

            Perhaps it was unnecessary.

          2. Yep

Millie, you said what you said and it was truthful as well as being the same sentiment the majority of people have. Don’t let that clown let doubt creep in.

          3. J Dizzle

Yeah I’m the clown who has issue with people having a small amount of joy at a man’s health while wishing him well. I would have issues with him when he was a politician but I’d never hint at a small amount of joy in his downfall.

I think it’s reasonable. whoever you are. she expressed her wish he recovers. intent? please explain. what else were you hoping for caller?

And even though the Beacon private hospital business is owned by Denis O’Brien and one of its directors is, err, Mr Brian Cowen (and another is John Delaney), I will second that and wish Brian a speedy recovery.

Despite the gravity of the situation, I am having difficulty getting the image out of my head of Denis desperately pumping life into Brian so that Brian can have a word with his brother , the FF TD Barry in the hope of getting the FF communications spokesperson, Timmy Dooley to soften his cough, opposing the €3bn National Broadband Plan (one of whose biggest beneficiaries is Denis who was swapped into the consortium at the last minute of a multi-year procurement after a secret dinner between the decision-making minister and the head of the bidding consortium).

he ONLY 59! Thought he was way older. Sounds like a stroke.. awful waiting game now for the family and loved ones. hope he recovers

  3. Mary Hynes

Very sad news. Thinking of Mary and family and wishing Brian a speedy recovery.

I see GO’D has started legal proceedings against a scientist and writer. I wonder did he do too much science and hurt her brain and now she’s suing him for damages?

    1. millie st murderlark

      I think it’s more a case of:

“Issue proceedings against me, will he? Well I’ll show YOU David Robert Grimes (if that even IS your real name) I’ll show you!”

Let’s hope none of the nurses he put out on the street to strike that winter when he was Minister for Health are now on the Beacon roster

      In the meantime,
      Let me say this
Brian Cowen 15 / 20 years ago would’ve been the lad for Boris and Farage
      No doubt about it

the beacon is dinny’s gaff Lilly
      (his employer amongst other things)

as for Cowen, well my own view is that if I was somehow faced with a choice of him or the country’s current “leader” I’d choose him. every. fupping. time.

      1. Lilly

I’d be shipping him off to Beaumont for a bleed on the brain, trolley or no trolley. The Beacon would do nicely for a broken toe.

    2. Daisy Chainsaw

Who in their right mind would want to queue on a trolley for 48 hours when a private hospital is available to deal with you on arrival?

  5. Spaghetti Hoop

People are very angry and bitter and rightly so. We wanted him to disappear from public life, but not in this way. Be humane everyone.

  6. DOC

I hope he will be OK
He became T-SHOCK in May 2008
Just four months before you know what hit the fan
Bertie Ahern was and still is a cute hoor and he jumped ship
The Two Brians never stood a chance
    Get well soon
