‘sup?

This morning.

Pearse Street, Dublin 2

Protesters at the site of Trinity College Dublin’s new Oisin House student accommodation block.

The main contractor on the publicly-funded project is Bennett Construction, but mechanical works are being carried out by a sub-contractor, GMG Mechanical.

Unite the Trade Union claim GMG Mechanical are paying workers less than the minimum rates stipulated in the Sectoral Employment Order governing mechanical workers.

Hence the rodent.

Made more sense when Rattigan was the builder they were protesting against. Still, I hope they get paid properly.

It’s too easy for these companys to cover up their lack of compliance with previously agreed terms. The day you can’t pay your employees the agreed rates is the day you can no longer call yourself a business. These people don’t turn up to volunteer in manual labour or work for a percentage of their wage. GMG, Bennetts and Trinity College should be ashamed of themselves.
