Not just chairing the AMBER outfit at Trinity, which received €40m, under unclear conditions, from the taxpayer recently but also chair of the IIEA which refuses to say how much it’s receiving from the government, Ruari is certainly creaming it from the state teat in his sunset years, leaving it to the current govt to clear up the mess of his redress scheme for sexual abuse in our schools.

For me his biggest failure as Minister for Ed was that he didn’t take the schools back

As an atheist and a member of a Government with a reasonable majority he should have done that

That Government and particularly the Labour members of it have been dining out on the Marriage Equality Referendum for too long
IMO they, and particularly Quinner sat on their hands for too much of their term, when this – taking schools out’ve Church hands would have sailed through.

The worst Minister for Ed in the history of the State afaic

Absolutely. He ran on a ticket to break up opus die in the dept of education and then fecked up English by dumbing down instead. Part of a generation that knew what was right but in the end were afraid or brainwashed to do it. Marriage equality and abortion were both driven by the multinationals who demanded it. Not by the Labour Party.

Amazing that these ‘retirees’ always pop up on some board or committee as ‘chair ‘
Gimmemore is another waste of space doing a bit of sucking too.
The fruits of selling out the electorate keeping FFG in power.
