Gemma O’D banned from YouTube for posting videos containing racial hatred. And possibly some anti-vac nonsense.

Good riddance to her bile spewing

          He’s right to an extent
People like this need to be out in plain sight where you can keep a good eye on them and their views can be subject to public scrutiny

          1. class wario

Oh stop. Gemma and her rabid followers won’t be ‘debated’ out of existence. Lending them any sort of platform in order to try and do that will just lead to more people thinking her views have validity while ‘liberals’ who allowed her to flourish pat themselves on the back for thinking they’ve put forward such a great argument that nobody will ever support her again. It’s bunkum.

Why do you need your political opponents to cease to exist? In order for free speech to flourish then all types of speech must be allowed

      1. Janet, I ate my avatar

exactly, she new it would make news,
at the same time UTube has to legally follow it’s policies right ?
        feed the right wolf folks

      2. class wario

If she was rightly banned from Twitter, YouTube and Facebook her influence and popularity would plummet as has been seen with the likes of Milo. A minor spike in attention (the majority of which is ‘lol what a dope’) is tiny by comparison.

Normally I’d agree but I’d ban you for that madeleine mccann joke alone….

Since the Portuguese got too close, the parents have been represented by the same sorts who look after the Queen and Charlie….cost free and, indeed, at a nice profit from the ‘fund’ by now.

My theory is child abductors, who capitalised on the negligent actions of….the parents. Quite likely they killed her once the campaign escalated globally with her ID.

            I don’t think it’s a fact she’s expired Dav
There was never a body found right?

          2. dav

yes, that makes up for your insinuation that’s she’s now a prostitute in a Chinese city, it was a crass comment – and your attempt to defend it is pretty pathetic

          3. millie st murderlark

Sorry, totally off topic but. Must ask. Are you The Husband, papi?

            You sound very like him.

          4. B9Com From No

Papi, dav – sorry if you guys found it offensive
I apologized to bertie but they didn’t post

          5. Papi

Would that I were, Millicent, just watched Anchorman far too many times.

B9, fair dues for the apology, when you have kids, those “jokes” aren’t jokes.

Hats off to 100-year-old John Hemingway, the last surviving Irish Battle of Britain pilot featured in the IT.
Without brave people like him and the rest of The Few who shot down 2,300 Nazi aircraft between July and October in 1940 you lot would be wearing lederhosen and drinking schnapps now.
Most of The Few were in their early 20’s in the days before man-buns and skinny lattes
and many of them died in battle.
Apart from Brits and the Irish they included Kiwis,Aussies,Polish and Czech fighter pilots prepared to die to prevent the Nazi domination of Europe.
It makes De Valera’s decision to be the first into the German Embassy in Dublin to sign Hitler’s Book of Condolences all the more shameful.
Not that real history like this is taught in Irish schools.
Enjoy your day in the spotlight John. You’re a proper Irish hero.

    1. Pip

Brendan ‘Paddy’ Finucane, Spitfire ace and RAF’s youngest ever wing commander.
Went down in the channel July 5th, 1942. Not even an oil slick.

    2. martco

I don’t know any of the pilots but I have got 2 landings connections (one of them was on the boat directly behind the famous piper Bill Millin onto Sword beach) Both men from Cork.

Their recollections of the time of what motivated them to defy deValera & join up was a)poverty & unemployment b)youthful (mis)adventure c)they hated the British too but it was the only realistic option open to them at the time!

That man featured in the newspaper article certainly was heroic, just like the 1,000’s of Polish pilots who flew for the RAF largely ignored & only mentioned when it suits…a handful of whom substantially won the Battle of Britain for ye single-handedly.

Regarding your schools comment, they teach about as much useful WW2 fact in English schools as they do here….but I can assure you our Geography lessons are far far better, lol!

btw I loved your personal hero recent Mogg’s twitter braindump following on England’s WC cricket victory ”we clearly don’t need Europe to win”
hahahaha er, yes, you definitely & factually do!?! I think this was my favourite response, but y’know there’s so many to choose from:

      what a dumbass, what irony!

@charger I’m sorry to break it to you old boy but you’re being led by donkeys. you seem to be a fan of donkeys.

why do you like the donkeys so much?

  3. GiggidyGoo

Harris trying a new diversionary tactic (child porn) to take the spotlight away from his inadequacies while almost 60 people test positive (that we are being told of anyway) after he and his department yet again fail. And dropout failed would-be journalist tells us that he believes the HSE when they tell him that there’s no need to worry. ‘Low clinical risk’ for the 52.
We are talking about cancer here, and Harris tries to fob it off as a ‘low’ risk.

    1. Janet, I ate my avatar

scary as hell, and why are regular GPs doing gyno work anyway? Where is the gyno you can just go to for all things related in this country, do you need referred ? It’s ridiculous, I’ll be flying back to mine, cheaper than shoddy results here in the long run ! It’s not good enough for anyone who doesn’t have that luxury.

    2. eoin

      “Cervical check”?

“Look over there, porn [sorry Katherine Zappone at Dept of Children but they’re getting too close to the truth about my total ineptitude on cervical check]”

    3. eoin

Am I reading that right, that 52 out of 800 had their results reversed and are now at risk? That’s a 7% error rate for that sample. That’s fairly worrying, is the test that shaky or is it the ineptitude of the lab which the government engaged to provide the service?

      1. B9Com From No

        something something medicine

I gather it’s not an idiot proof test Eoin as it’s a a cheaper method of testing and can often result in false positives or negatives

  4. GiggidyGoo

So, will BJ take up the offer of an extension? Will LV accept Ursula’s new brush – changing the terms of a proposed withdrawal document ( because that’s what’s going to happen).

    1. ReproBertie

The WA is not up for renegotiation.

In fact the October 31st extension terms specifically say the time can not be used for any attempted renegotiation. The only extension possible after October 31st is for an election or second referendum.

      1. GiggidyGoo

She’s already said that she’d grant an extension to the UK past the October deadline. But LV said (just a month ago) ‘“What won’t be entertained is an extension for further negotiations or further indicative votes – the time for that is long since past.” One of them is lying.

(Nice of her to decide off her own bat. Germany rules hip hip horray.)

        1. ReproBertie

“I stand ready for further extension of the withdrawal date should more time be required for a good reason,” she told a confirmation hearing in the European Parliament.

That’s no different to what was already agreed, a further extension for an election or a referendum.

          1. GiggidyGoo

‘Good reason’. If she meant referendum (which in the UK is.not.binding) or election then she would have specifically said those words. She didn’t. A ‘good reason’ could mean anything and theres the crux of it. Who decides what counts as a good reason?

          2. ReproBertie

The EU has already repeatedly said there’s no renegotiation and the only possibility of an extension is for an election or a second referendum. These are the only good reasons. You play semantics all you like. It changes nothing.

“The people have spoken” when it suits but “referendums are non-binding” when that suits.

          3. GiggidyGoo

Semantics ? Why doesn’t she come out and say Referendum or Election? Looks like the semantics are in your stable.
A referendum in the UK is not binding. A referendum in Ireland is binding. Nothing about whether it suits – it’s a fact.

          4. ReproBertie

No, can’t think of any reason why she wouldn’t use her acceptance speech as an opportunity to dictate to one member state in terms you could understand instead of using the intentionally vague language of diplomacy. The 28 EU states all know what good reason means.

      2. GiggidyGoo

Your second paragraph appeared after i’d written my original reply. I didn’t see a reference to that in her speech (second referendum / election).

  5. eoin

Ah, would you look at wee Pascal there on the front page of the FT saying the Irish govt and EU won’t change the terms of the backstop.

    1. GiggidyGoo

They won’t because neither the WA or Backstop actually exist at the moment. They are proposals which the UK haven’t accepted (after many votes in parliament. )

  6. eoin

Another minister who’s doing his damnedest to distract from the failure to get his judicial appointments bill passed after THREE YEARS in government is Shane Ross, who has acted outside his powers as minister by directly interfering in the FAI. The chain of command for grants is Ross-Sport Ireland-FAI, if anyone is to threaten the FAI, it should be SPort Ireland which independently controls the purse strings for €60m of investment in sports each year.

Ross is just trying to get his mug in the picture again.

      1. B9Com From No

I’m gonna sit right down and write
        Myself a letter
And make believe it came from you

      2. eoin

When you ultimately control the €60m annual sports grant budget, of which €3m goes to the FAI, then, by writing directly to the FAI and interfering in their governance, you are usurping the role of Sport Ireland whose role is to independently ensure the €60m is spent in a proper manner. So, yes, writing the letter was outside his powers. Mind you, turning up at Dublin airport and sticking like glue to Katie Taylor or the camogie team and insisting you’re in every pic and taking credit for any victory is probably also outside your powers.

        1. B9Com From No

isn’t the Minister always the Chief executive though Eoin? That’s generally how legislation is worded

    1. V

      Eoin is right
Minister Ross is way outside his department brief

He has no business contacting a candidate for an officer post in the FAI
Actually he is deliberately attempting to influence the vote at their (assuming) SGM

      And on a side note
Donal Conway is actually a decent man
And isn’t a bad pick from the old board for this new one
In fact he’s the best of the lot of them
      And
      Well IMO anyway
And I do have some experience on these matters
It would enormously beneficial for the new Board to have an already established relationship with the traditional grassroots of the organisation, which Donal Conway has
And for the staff and members to have a familiar and knowing face on the new Board

I absolutely agree the last Board failed
However they themselves were let down by their external Auditors
      And their CEO

This new board will perform better with Donal Conway
Of that I have no doubt

The key appointment for the FAI is to secure a strong CEO, who is capable of implementing the recommendations of the GT report, and who knows how the relationship between their role, as head of Operations, and the function of the Board at Governance level is supposed to work.
And someone who can manage their external relationships, ie Sport Ireland, Lobbying, Sponsors etc

And a complete reboot of their Finance Department – there can be no remaining or lingering there

Get Ross to mind his own business

      1. B9Com From No

        Just asking questions V

I can’t agree with you there even though I don’t doubt your own sincerity

The board remains tainted with remnants of the previous regime
        Accounts have not been produced
It stinks of business as usual and no lessons learned
        Putin and Medvedev
        Musical chairs
        Smokes and mirrors
        No after you, Sir
        No I insist

“The Central Bank is today publishing its final report as we are satisfied,
following extensive supervisory challenge and assurance work, that the
affected groups of customers have now been identified, that redress and
compensation is nearing completion and that the supervisory phase of the
    Examination can be concluded accordingly”

There has been constant upward revisions to the number of borrowers which were unlawfully overcharged for their mortgages, and even today, there’s an estimated 10,000 borrowers on top of the 40,000 in the Central Bank’s “final report”.

Why is the Central Bank drawing a line under the scandal which might only be 80% exposed?

    https://www.centralbank.ie/docs/default-source/consumer-hub-library/tracker-issues/update-on-tracker-mortgage-examination—july-2019.pdf?sfvrsn=6

    1. Pip

Just wondering, Eoin. Was told By Ulster Bank on starting new mortgage (moving house) “well, we’re obviously not going to give you a tracker”. We went for fixed, anticipating huge rises when the bubble burst. Which of course didn’t happen. Any traction, ya think?

      1. eoin

Hi Pip, is this all history? If it’s current, sounds to me that you’re closing out one transaction – tracker mortgage secured by existing property – and entering into a new transaction, new mortgage secured by new property, so I wouldn’t think legally, you have much of a case. However, that said, the existing tracker is probably loss-making for Ulster Bank so you might be doing them a huge favour in closing it out, and that might be worth something to you. If I were you, I’d have a word with a financial advisor or two and see what they advise. Also, I’d have a stab at calculating how much your tracker mortgage will cost UB over its lifetime, and let UB know….

Also, the expert on trackers and redress is Padraic Kissane, have you tried contacting him.

        1. postmanpat

Don’t contact him, use your own judgement , Padraic Kissane is a shill for the banks. he was on to me trying to get me to go from tracker to fixed month after month right up until the 2008 crash when the rates started to fall again , if I had listened to him and his goons id be still stuck paying high pre-recession mortgage payments every month. ten years later his staff where on asking me to come in for a chat regarding my finances and singing their own praises on how they helped people who had gotten stuck in a fixed rate (that they encouraged them to go for in the first place knowing FULL well what was around the corner) and helping get back to a variable rate. Its like dealing with the devil, that shower.

    2. dav

the fundamentals of the central bank remain “sound”, don’t upset the banks and flup the customers

  8. eoin

Interesting that the family of the murdered Tipperary DJ Bobby Ryan are suing the convicted murderer Patrick Quirke. You’d wonder why the family of Celine Cawley didn’t sue Eamon Lillis. and there’d be countless examples in Ireland where a claim for damages from the family of the victim might want to sue the culprit.

    1. B9Com From No

my recollection is that Lillis didn’t have any money until his wife has been buried and her estate had been distributed , or after probate

Legal types might argue that such carpetbagging would be unfairly but nonetheless perceived as opportunistic and could prejudice a claim?

  9. Murtles

You’d wonder what upbringing a 7, 8 and 10 year old have that lure a 5 year old girl into a house and beat her with sticks and try to sexually assault her. The Indian punishment of flogging the parents for the child’s bad behaviour doesn’t sound too bad right now. It’d all be in private like with no names mentioned but child has to watch. “You see what you done to your poor mother and father” type of thing. Enter PC Brigade in 3….2….

    1. Spaghetti Hoop

Sad and shocking story. What sort of dangerous society have we become where kids are attacking, raping and murdering other kids?

    2. Janet, I ate my avatar

I witnessed a boy simulate oral sex to a fellow pupil who happened to be sitting at groin height yesterday, he was the only one laughing..age group circa 10/11

  10. Charger Salmons

Great news for the people of Galway city as ‘Spoons expand their burgeoning pub empire taking over the old Carbon nightclub.
Sir Timbo’s policy of good cheap beer and value-for-money food will transform the 4,000 sq ft building with a 1900 sq feet beer garden after his €2.5million investment.
People complain about rip-off Ireland but here’s a great British entrepreneur actually doing something about it.
And,of course,he’s a big Brexit backer so his politics are sound.
I look forward to popping in for a sharpener one day.
    Marvellous.

      1. Spaghetti Hoop

It’s homogenising towns and their inhabitants one mixed grill at a time. The best of British blandness.

        1. Charger Salmons

Lapped up by a grateful Irish public sick of being ripped off by their own.
‘Spoons have been phenomenally successful in Ireland for that very reason and they’ll continue to grow.
Another great British success story supported by our Irish chums.
          Thanks lads.
          Take a bow.
