Shane Ross is slipping. I can’t see him in any of the front page pics.
“Mr Ross, who was previously criticised for hijacking Katie Taylor’s homecoming, told RTE News that he believes it is “appropriate” that he was there to support Shane Lowry. And he said that he would love to speak to Lowry if he does manage to lift the Claret Jug.”
Meanwhile, Shane continues to interfere in the FAI, when the chain of command for the €3m grant given by the taxpayer to the FAI is Dept of Sport -> Sport Ireland -> FAI. If Shane Ross is so concerned about the €3m grant, he might question why Sport Ireland handed over nearly €1m to the FAI *after* the Sunday Times revelations in mid-March.

Kerryview, an embargoed story or photos, I’m not sure. That’s how we got them.

If anyone is any doubt as to the ugly hated filled face of nationalism then look no further than what is happening in Poland right now. The conservative pro-Catholic party, Law and Justice who used the ‘them vs us’ narrative against immigrants to gain power, appear to be stepping up its anti LGBT rhetoric ahead of elections.
Some say this is also a means of deflection because a wave of paedophilic scandals is about to hit the Church but either way- the emerging videos are quite scary. Kind of puts out own little disagreements about if Pride is becoming too commercial into perspective of course.
They are preempting the Drag Queen Story time nonsense..

D-Day for signing the €5 (five) bn National Broadband Plan is tomorrow. The Oireachtas communications committee is having a special holiday meeting in Leinster House to debate the greenlighting of the signature of a deal with Granahan McCourt.
The Irish Examiner reports “Fianna Fáil is understood to want to delay the final conclusions and publication of the report.” That being the case, the matter should be shelved for a couple of months.
The Examiner also reports “Cabinet refused an offer from Eir. Ministers said the Eir plan was not a “feasible alternative” and would not stop a decision to go with the preferred bidder, Granahan McCourt. That consortium will instead be paid a maximum €2.9bn while investors will pay the rest of the €5bn total cost.”

On another note….
I wonder whatever happened those plans for the Casino in Co. Tipperary. You know, the one that Michael Lowry went crazy over when planning permission was originally allowed, then declined. I wonder if the change to slot machine limits is laying the groundwork for a new foray. Getting the ducks in line.
They should be having a special meeting on the scandal of 47,000 children waiting to see a consultant. It’s scandalous .

The state of our public health service, one of the most expensive (per person) in the world. The Irish Times reports
““This [staff shortages] is also contributing massively to growing waiting times where we have seen an increase of 14,965 [children awaiting a hospital appointment] in the last 36 months, more than a 46 per cent increase in the number of children waiting to see a paediatrician for an outpatient appointment .It said more than 19,000 children were waiting longer than 12 months to see a specialist.”
A 46% increase since Simon Harris was appointed minister.
Nearly as bad as the 77% increase in the number of children in emergency accommodation in the same period.

Well done Shane Lowry. He managed to lift the spirits of the entire nation yet barely hovers in the bowels of BS commentary. Surely more than a handful of the commenters have a ounce of sport in their blood or is he not flawed or political enough for a good aul slaggin’?
Hats off to Shane Lowry, he seems to be a thoroughly decent and well liked fella.
Shane Lowry deserves all the success.
Shane Ross is slipping. I can’t see him in any of the front page pics.

We have a different vision for our society.
Remember that nurse’s pay deal with the INMO earlier this year that was supposed to cost €10-15m in 2019?
More like €55m, according to this response to a parliamentary question from FF’s health spokesperson Stephen Donnelly last week.
