Roll Out The Barrow

at

On Saturday.

Supporters of Dublin Says No To Hate – including Izzy Kamikaze (top) – gathered outside Irishtown Garda Station on Irishtown Road in Dublin 4 to protest “the gardai’s inaction” toward what organisers allege as “the ongoing open incitement to hatred taking place on the streets of Dublin”.

This group – including Green Party councillor Hazel Chu (second pic, addressing those gathered) – then walked to the headquarters of Google on Barrow Street, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 2 – where a separate protest was being held.

Daily protests led by Anti Corruption Ireland founder Gemma O’Doherty, who was de-platformed by Google-owned YouTube, have been taking place outside the tech giant’s Dublin HQ for the past number of weeks.

Dublin Says No To Hate regard Anti-Corruption Ireland as ‘anti-immigrant’ (a charge ACI deny) are seeking YOUTUBE and other tech giants to deplatform and censor those they consider to be ‘far right’.

Meanwhile…

Heil-o you.

Video footage from the anti-protest protest outside Google’s HQ, taken by Mark Malone, shows a man seemingly make a Nazi salute during the protests.

I can’t help but think the large protest on Saturday only served to pivot and sling-shot a single person to greater national prominence than she deserves.

      1. eoin

Swatting a fly with a cannon ball has a nasty way of coming back to bite you on the behind. And sometimes, restraint is the better part of valour. [By the way, I’m not criticising the motives of the participants on Saturday, but I think it will just bring her out more support on the streets, we’ll see later on today]

I always picture you typing that out with a gun pressed to the back of your head.

          No idea why.

  2. BS

must be very embarrasing for broadsheet to have been such an avid supported of GO’D to see what she’s up to now…and whats with the dole queue lads in tracksuits wearing the tricolour and throwing nazi salutes, are they confused or just bored?

    1. Jeffrey

      – There is nothing embarrasing in this, GoD totally changed from one day to the next almost, not many could have forseen this.
      – The Nazi salute is a plant, I think we all know this by now.

        1. Jeffrey

No one is perfect – Looks like I was wrong on this one, seemed evident to me based on a number of tweets / videos I saw but there you go, all is not always as it appears. Bunch of loons / goons, if they wanted to be outcasted with this they really done it.

      1. some old unicorn

And is that not her goon who assaulted the google staff member on the first day of her protest doing crowd control? Those fascists were there to support her- nobody else.

        1. garrett

you managed to pick out and follow a photographer and a “Nazi” from a reasonable sized crowd. Is that a coincidence, forewarned, got lucky?

      2. Spaghetti Hoop

‘Changed from one day to the next’?
I don’t believe that. She was always a a conspiracy theorist. Her work is based on this. She just became more vocal as she entered the political arena.

She’s dangerous in rousing up this kind of public angst and division. And there are many like her all around the continent.

        1. Jeffrey

Someone did a bit of research on this… it was pretty sudden, like in the course of a week or two she started tweeting about Clinton conspiracy stuff…

          1. Spaghetti Hoop

Yes but that could be just an increased use of Twitter, and indeed YouTube, once her investigative work found an audience.

    2. Bodger

BS, we’ll add this to your recent collection:

‘They won’t (cover) her antics cause broadsheet love GoD All hail GoD the saviour of our nation’

‘Funny how Bodger hasn’t posted anything about his hero GoD’s disgusting rant about Longford. Maybe she’s looking to set the stage for Ireland’s very own UKIP party. I see a milkshake in her future.’

‘Gemma O’D banned from YouTube for posting videos containing racial hatred. And possibly some anti-vac nonsense.Good riddance to her bile spewing.’

‘I see GO’D has started legal proceedings against a scientist and writer. I wonder did he do too much science and hurt her brain and now she’s suing him for damages?’

At least you’re consistent, BS. Obsessive but consistent.

      1. some old unicorn

May I ask a question Bodger- do you think that forwarding a photograph of children around the world to make a racist point was an incitement to hatred?

        1. eoin

Speaking for myself, I have a difficulty with subjective “incitement to hatred” accusations. Where does so-called “legitmate” commentary about immigration etc cross the line and do shouts of “incitement to hatred” stiffle legitimate debate.

I also have concerns about 21st century utilities like Facebook, Google, Youtube de-platforming.

          1. some old unicorn

And I have concerns that legislation which is TWENTY years old has resulted in only five prosecutions- if giving a nazi salute is not incitement then what is?

          2. B9Com From No

It’s someone being a boo boo

As Eoin said above why give these people martyr status? Your own article you posted here yesterday from medium left that out. Every cause is a battle blah blah blah but in fact it’s more about choosing your battles…

          3. some old unicorn

In a way it doesn’t matter if Nazisaluteboy is for real or a plant- the action was the same- what we are looking at here is a test case so will the authorities take action?

This subject needs to be tackled and a national debate had. What is proven from elsewhere is that if it is ignored, it will grow and fester because it is based on lies and propaganda.

            As for https://medium.com/@DeoTasDevil/the-rhetoric-tricks-traps-and-tactics-of-white-nationalism-b0bca3caeb84

People are getting radicalised online and some are going out and killing- this is fact. There is most definitely a certain level of manipulation going on. There is also techniques being used to silence or frustrate others- I’ve seen it even on this site.

I honestly don’t know if the link above is the full story but it certainly is part of it. As before- if you have any other links on this subject please post as I would be very interested in reading them.

          4. B9Com From No

As I said or if I didn’t I hope it’s clear, sou I don’t fault your enthusiasm or sincerity.

But no I don’t see some jackass making a Nazi salute on the street as evidence of some vast right wing conspiracy or movement

It’s sad though to see – I agree about that

          5. some old unicorn

There is a very solid reason why there was so many gay people on that march B9Com. In our guts we know what this means and there is absolutely no reason why Ireland cannot go the same way as other countries- particularly given the current level of dissatisfaction with the main political parties.

            Fascism: I sometimes fear…

I sometimes fear that people think that fascism arrives in fancy dress worn by grotesques and monsters as played out in endless re-runs of the Nazis.

Fascism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you…

It doesn’t walk in saying, “Our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution.”

            Micheal Rosen 2014.

          6. Janet, I ate my avatar

good point, it’s not until you are on the recieving end you realize the reality of society

          7. B9Com From No

            Sou
            That’s fair enough.
I’d never presume to walk in yours or any other gay persons shoes. I do recall a plateau of anxiety from the LGTBQI community when Trump was elected, a well-founded expression of concern about fascism etc as it turned out. But also people you identify with suggested that Trumps election would result in a virtual persecution of unicorns. Has that actually happened?

          8. some old unicorn

@ B9com- yes violence against LGBT in the states has had a marked increase – long with other minorities. All Trump has proved is that Jews can be fascists too.

As per the link above- the far right can only become normalised if the centre moves towards it.

          9. some old unicorn

Anyways it’s all fairly academic- serious right wing players wouldn’t have been seen anywhere near a street eyeball like that.

            Clowns.

      2. BS

Thanks Bodger, nice to have them all in one place for quck reference.

I still think all my comments above stand up to any scrutiny you may like to level against them, i’d be happy to have a civil and constructive debate about why you might not aggree with them, or why you think that highlighting far right nonsense from someone who ran for president and was given a visible platform on this site (although i accept that this was before her far right leanings came to light) is obsessive.

i look forward to hearing from you

        1. B9Com From No

          good luck with that

As bodger says subtly above your pressing beef on this issue to be honest is excruciatingly tendentious

    oh no

“At one time she was lionised in Broadsheet.ie. a liberal website with a following that varies from libertarian to leftist but which does not embrace conservatism, the Church or John Waters who it has pilloried, characteristically and in particular for his stance on PantiBliss whose denigration of Waters as homophobic grounded a defamation payout. Now Waters and she make ideological twins and he appears regularly on her Youtube channel. In Irish terms this amounts to a 180-degree rotation”

    https://villagemagazine.ie/index.php/2019/06/gemma-moves-right/

    1. Fergus the magic postman

Village Magazine were bigging her up as recently as last week on Twitter. They have since removed post due to backlash, and republished the link above which had been removed previous.

    2. B9Com From No

      Media bubble faff and waffle

About 5 people buy Village Magazine hence why as Eoin reported here yesterday they are going to give it away for nothin now

Also that article contains a major source of misleading information. It appears to suggest Gemma authored the removed article about Rooskey from broadsheet when in fact it was Eamonn Crudden.

“No, you get your facts right “

  4. Jeffrey

Honestly? Both sides look utterly ridiculous. Stop it, have you nothing better to do on Saturdays? Its embarrassing really.

  5. dhaughton99

I watched re-runs of ‘The Bill’, ate a bag of skittles and onion rings and jacked off. My Saturday was more productive than this.

  6. some old unicorn

There is one simple way to confirm this plant nonsense- find salute guy. He was on a a bike so he was in the Dublin area and report-ably arrived in from Carlow on a bus that morning. The guards also spoke to him- surely they would have taken his details? If not why not?

As for that second video- nothing more than speculation from what is obviously a right wing source. The only other known fact is that he was hanging with the fascists for at least half an hour before the main body of protesters arrived.

Given that crowd are so wary of journalists- it is almost certain that they knew who he was.

    1. Fergus The Magic Postman

The whole “Nazi salute guy is a plant” is similar to “Jeffrey Epstein’s death was a suicide with nothing dodgy going on” in that nobody actually believes it including whoever might be saying it,

It’s pretty lame, and incidentally, anybody who is saying he was a plant (including Jeffrey here in the comments) is showing that they are in fact on the side of the right wing ACI crowd that were doing the salute.

  7. Ian-O

Nazi salute incel and his apish mate are the perfect pic to circulate so people can see who she brings to the table.

    Nobody of consequence.

I am confused though, if these people are afraid of immigrants taking their jobs, surely they might go out and secure one first before losing it?

      1. Ian-O

Maybe start simple and teach them how to spell ”CV” first.

We could then move up to advanced stuff like digital (finger) addition and subtraction and then perhaps potty training.

          1. GiggidyGoo

And a right little car they were. Wouldn’t be able for Patrick’s Hill in Cork mind you (I know that from experience)

    1. Ian-O

      Is it?

First, its actually Godwins law and second it states:

Godwin’s law is an Internet adage asserting that “As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1”

Considering there were people using what look like nazi salutes and the thread began with that point, it does not fall under the rules of this ‘law’.

    2. Fergus The Magic Postman

That’s like saying Godwin’s law applies when having a conversation with the spirit of the actual tiny mustached one ball man himself.

  8. jerry

there’s serial protestor bernie hughes – anti water, anti fascist. She loves protesting – one could say she is a serial protestor, addicted to the outrage. She would probably be happier if she could join a decent little firm and get some regular weekend action and time out of the house, who knows after a while one day become top boy

i miss delleck and his tricolour inside the gpo, taking the country back / we are streaking in the quad

  9. Scundered

Is the Nazi salute not aimed at Google deplatforming people who aren’t left wing and shutting down debate, in that case the salute is merely a stand against Nazis? Is the context being lost entirely? Or have I read sides wrong?

      1. Scundered

Well what’s the difference between calling someone a Nazi or making the gesture visually, it’s the intention that matters, it’s not as though anyone is in support of Nazis.

What did you think they meant by it?

        1. Fergus the magic postman

It was the Nazis themselves who made Nazi salutes, and not the targets of ethnic cleansing. Glad I could educate you.

          1. Scundered

you clearly haven’t the capacity to understand what’s going on in the photo in that case Fergus, if that’s your synopsis. But sure keep on convincing yourself you’re clever.

  10. Daisy Chainsaw

Aaaaand they’re gone! Cops finally got the finger out and moved Gemma and her nazis on. The residents of Barrow St are safe from racist bullying and noise pollution.

    1. some old unicorn

Just moving the undesirables onwards is not going to address the issue in the longer term.

Apart from Nazisaluteboy- has everyone else been identified? He has a great ass btw.

      1. B9Com From No

        Where do you work Mof?
Would people like that be allowed congregate outside and harangue you and your colleagues?

          1. Man On Fire

Indeed, it’s what I thought when you blurted out taig in two separate comments the other day..

            Hate speech when it suits..

  11. Rob_G

I’m confused; is the suggestion that ‘the left’ have put him there to make the protesters look more Nazi-ish, or that the far-right put him there to make some right-wing/far-right people (who would not self-identify as Nazis per se) more closely-aligned with Nazis.

The fellow taking the photograph seems to have some braids/dreadlock thing going on with his hair; I would not have thought that this would be a look that a typical far-right type would go for.

      1. Rob_G

If someone is wearing studs and has a mohawk, one could hazard a guess that they might be a punk; if someone in Ireland has braids/dreadlocks, they are often on the new age traveller/hippie/crustie spectrum. People typically adopt the styles and modes of dress of a subculture because they are making a consciuus choice to identify with it.

Anyway, this is a person who is apparently staging photo shoots of nazi salutes for some sort of nefarious purposes; his choice of hairstyle is the least of the things that people will be judging him about.

  12. Eoin

Nazi boy was a deliberate plant. Disgraceful attempt to undermine a grass root anti globalism pro free speech movement. Won’t work anyway. No stopping truth in the end.
