Would remind you of the Childrens Crusade in 1212. Two lads in France and Germany separately saw visions which told them to go off to the middle east and peacefully convert the Muslims. Right so, they said and they marched hundreds of miles, picking up 1,000s along the way, from France and Germany to the Mediterranean sea, which, according to the vision was supposed to divide, like the Red Sea for Moses, so they could walk the last 1,000 miles on the sea bed. Alas, that didn’t happen. They were swindled by slave traders who promised to sail them to the Middle east but took them to slave markets in Tunisia instead. And that was the end of that.

Prince Andrew was in the North a couple of weeks ago.
He was accompanied by a prominent Northern Ireland libel lawyer who has represented the likes of Gerry Adams, Ian Paisley junior, Peter Robinson and FF minister Frank Fahey. Very little being reported about this disgusting individual also.
Excuse the pun, but that Dan Buckley guy seems hopelessly green around the ears. It’s fairy tales for adults type stuff. Greta Thunberg, a lone teenager comes shooting from obscurity to single- handedly rally the youth in their masses and strike at the heart of the neo-liberal capitalist system – alternatively, has the phenomenon been stage-managed every step of the way. – from her tweets, her media exposure, down to her access to political leaders?.
Seems more credible to me that she’s a pawn in a carefully choreographed media campaign run by the ruling class to channel public dissent into consenting to the corporate-approved solution to the environmental crisis (Green New Deal) which doesn’t actually confront the fundamental drivers of the crisis but is primarily aimed at prolonging the status quo of late-stage capitalism a while longer.
+1.. it’s exactly the same m.o. as Cambridge Analytical.. who must be still with us in a different guise. It’s so totally pitched and controlled. And no one voice in the media questioning any of it. The same as Brexit. We do indeed live in interesting times.
Nigel
The Brexit/Cambridge Analytica style strategy would surely be to paint activists calling for broad range of political actions as part of a media campaign by the ruling class to channel public dissent and control people’s lives. They would focus with overwhelming negativity on a single narrow issue, the carbon tax, say, to drive popular reactionary opposition on both the death-cult right and the useless left to the exclusion of all other policies and issues, resulting in political deadlock and the ever-deeper entrenchment of the corporate status quo. The media can be awful in many ways, but for once it’s hardly their fault that you can’t launch the kind of Brexty/Trumpish/CA style attacks on a teenage girl without showing up your moral and intellectual bankruptcy and exposing yourself as kind of repulsive and creepy.

Nigel
At the risk of speaking for Lily, I’d say you could store the charge from the solar panels in batteries which would then be used to charge your vehicle, possibly overnight. That’s the dream, anyway. Plus the wind doth blow at night, betimes.
Lilly
Thanks Nigel, that’s exactly what I had in mind. Households will also be able to sell excess electricity back to the grid.
italia'90
Unfortunately technology is moving so fast that the equipment and investment required 5 years ago to capture excess energy and then sell it back to the grid, that it renders it obsolete and a poor investment. That’s why most SME’s have not invested and are reluctant to do so today. It’s not commercially viable just yet. Yes you can sell energy back to the grid today, but your break even point is approx. 20 years from photovoltaic sources alone. An additional 20k – 30k investment is required for optimum battery storage and transmission equipment for each household before we can get off the grid and become relatively self sufficient. Also you have to factor in redundancy, technical issues and maintenance costs of all the possible scenarios.
I’m 100% in favour of this model. I’ve invested in geothermal heating and solar panels in my own home and a similar more advanced passive energy efficient house I own in Hungary where I plan to retire to.
The battery storage phase of the plan is still not solved. It needs a back up to the back up unfortunately.

@f_lawless — I had a look at wrongkindofgreen.org and was surprised to see Patagonia listed as one of the entities trying to eek another bit out of capitalism. They’ve always struck me as a company that genuinely endorses sustainability. They boycott the bullpoo that is Black Friday and send their employees off hiking for the day. They make their products to last – often from recycled materials. I have Patagonia stuff 20 years and still going strong. They urge their customers to think twice before buying and ask if they really need the item. How can they be the ‘wrong kind of green’?
f_lawless
Patagonia is a primary funder of the Ruckus Society which, according to the WK of G journalist, has become greatly involved in the rebranding of capitalism and corporate “greenwashing”.
I guess Patagonia is not the worst of the offender out there but at the end of the day, it’s a multi-national corporate enterprise in this consumer capitalist system we live in, generating a billion dollars in revenue a year. Is urging customers to think twice before buying just a reverse psychology marketing ploy – appeal to the sensibilities of the eco-conscious consumer and thereby increase brand loyalty? If it really impacted their profits, they wouldn’t be saying that. Related article: https://www.outsideonline.com/1915001/not-buyin-it

The reason religion is so important with this company is, it has been pouring money into the new Jerusalem project in Ballymena. The son of the founder is Pastor Jeff. The most recent accounts for the group show it made in 2017 a profit before a donation of £4.2m to the church run by Pastor Jeff after which there was a loss. There are people coming out on Twitter to say they were fired when they refused to give donations from their salary to the church. Read more about the church here.
I’m hearing dark stuff about the finances of the company and expect the poo to hit the wall in the next nine days. The DUP are pestering the Tories for a bailout but they’re not going to get it. If the Tories will let travel agents Thomas Cook go to the wall (see front pages above), Wrightbus can drive off a cliff.
Religion is central to this company’s demise.

I know quite a few people who work in it, and none of what you say sounds remotely like truth but we will see what happens in the next nine days, the church does have a huge following though and is well known for having stoeln the youthful congregations from other churches in the region… I heard that collections at weekends can be as much as £250k so it’s capable of raising huge money…. I also personally know several members who take in drug addicts to live in their homes and create a “normal” environment to help them kick the habit and get them cleaned up, that has been a commonplace thing with their followers so they have done a lot of good too so I can’t be too harsh either, although I too am always sceptical when business and religion live side by side.

Maria Bailey being re-heated on Marian show with co-owner of the Dean Hotel giving the first interview on the matter. Matt Ryan isn’t sure what Maria was seeking in court, money presumably but how much, who knows. The Dean was certain it had done nothing wrong and wasn’t going to meet her initial demand for €7,000 for medical costs. Maria has now “fully reimbursed” the Dean’s unquantified legal costs to date. There hadn’t been a single incident with the swings since the hotel was opened in 2013, until Maria Bailey’s incident in 2015, and there hasn’t been a single incident since.
Interesting that Maria Bailey has been removed by Leo from certain Oireachtas committees chair roles, but she’s still a member of the budgetary oversight committee. Will she be promoting a cut in VAT for hotels? She will not. In fact, if she had her way, she’d probably double the rate to 27%.
She has no business being anywhere near where laws and policies and budgets are set. She also has no business in the FG party, and her continued membership is a reflection on Leo and Simon.
Spaghetti Hoop
I agree. Her constituents will have their chance to respond soon enough on whether she is fit to represent them. (Mind you, collective forgetfulness is very common in Irish electoral history.)
Thought Matt Ryan handled the questions very professionally. In fact, whether it was crafted PR or just simply his business style, the Dean Hotel has emerged from the debacle with a sort of grown-up rationale and respect. The swing will probably end of in the Little Museum of Dublin one day – but not before thousands having the craic will instagram the hell out of it. Superb marketing.

1. I didn’t say you attacked her mental health. You swore at her. Bodger attacked her mental health. I didn’t attack the mental health of the Google eejit.
2. I’m not sure why you think not taking the trouble to check who you’re swearing at absolves you of the act.
3. Yes, asking others to feel your fear is a request for empathy. I think, given the support she has recieved, that she’d be on solid ground in claiming that it’s not just her fear, which is the opposite of narcissism. Nowhere does she claim to be the only one feeling this fear.
Read the quote again.
‘This is the water and this is the well. Drink full and descend. The horse is the white of the eyes and dark within.’
What the hell…?
Ridiculous….one precious on RTE news yesterday believes we’ll all be gone in 30yrs.
….sure some started the clock at 12 years to go, and have already moved to 11 left to go…
Environmental end of world date predictors would give the Jehovah’s Witnesses a run for their money on date changes and the end of the world, in fairness :)
Weird you have no opinion on this Clampers?

Time’s up for Prince Andrew. Might as well join the priesthood.
I see most of the Brit papers have different royal stories, only the Mirror has the most important one. As the victim said, if she is lying, sue her. If you can brainwash people into approving of royalty, you can do anything you want.
Prince Andrew was in the North a couple of weeks ago.
https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/prince-andrew-joined-by-northern-ireland-lawyer-tweed-at-royal-portrush-golf-course-38481948.html
He was accompanied by a prominent Northern Ireland libel lawyer who has represented the likes of Gerry Adams, Ian Paisley junior, Peter Robinson and FF minister Frank Fahey. US media has found itself being sued in Northern Ireland for defamation, including a case with the National Enquirer where the injured party was none other than Fergie, the horrible ex-princess.
This is harrowing stuff broadcast in the USA yesterday where alleged details of the relationship between Prince Andrew [can’t we use just plain “Andrew Windsor” for this disgustington?] and one of Epstein’s victims is detailed.

Seems more credible to me that she’s a pawn in a carefully choreographed media campaign run by the ruling class to channel public dissent into consenting to the corporate-approved solution to the environmental crisis (Green New Deal) which doesn’t actually confront the fundamental drivers of the crisis but is primarily aimed at prolonging the status quo of late-stage capitalism a while longer.
http://www.wrongkindofgreen.org/2019/09/18/the-manufacturing-of-greta-thunberg-for-consent-the-behavioural-change-project-to-change-everything-volume-ii-act-v/
Manufacturing consent for a global carbon tax.
+1.. it’s exactly the same m.o. as Cambridge Analytical.. who must be still with us in a different guise. It’s so totally pitched and controlled. And no one voice in the media questioning any of it. The same as Brexit. We do indeed live in interesting times.
Blah blah
Sorry. In your preferred format: if (strawman) then surely (red herring) therefore (non sequitor.)
Kids used as props in a scam. Advocated by delusional school teachers like you.
How’s that for form.
Everything you just said is wrong. How’s that?
In your warped mind.
Let’s do the mind warp again.

What’s your view on electric cars – is it just more BS designed to get people to scrap perfectly okay cars and buy new ones?
How is that electricity produced again?
Idea is good for e -cars, we need to go next gen nuclear tho.
Solar panels in your roof, using the electricity they generate to charge the gluaisteán overnight?
Well you’ve blown my mind Lilly ;)
UV at night you say? hmmmm
So that fella who joked about flying to the sun at night was right all along. Who knew?
At the risk of speaking for Lily, I’d say you could store the charge from the solar panels in batteries which would then be used to charge your vehicle, possibly overnight. That’s the dream, anyway. Plus the wind doth blow at night, betimes.
Thanks Nigel, that’s exactly what I had in mind. Households will also be able to sell excess electricity back to the grid.
And the cars are made from…:)
And they need…. roads… all makes sense.
Need more electric buses and trains and bikes and less private cars.
E-cars don’t really solve anything – a gridlocked city street full of single-occupancy e-cars poses almost all of the same societal and environmental problems as a gridlocked city street full of single-occupancy ICEs.
Related article: https://www.outsideonline.com/1915001/not-buyin-it
Anyone know if the film “The Laundromat” will be shown in Ireland. Starring Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, Antonio Banderas and the lad from Friends, it’s about the Panama Papers, which exposed the shady dealings of shady people, including certain Irish rich people and their political friends. The film will be shown on Netflix later this year, but it’s being released to cinemas around now.
And has anyone heard of a country, starts with “N”, has five letters and the last one is “e”, not “u”.
The country is Niuie, which you’d have known if you were into the old money laundering, tax haven lark.
That awful Lorraine Higgins woman has been given a plum state job. Miriam Lord reports
“Former Labour senator and general election candidate Lorraine Higgins will be appointed Honorary Consul to the Slovak Republic at a reception in the embassy in Merrion Square on Thursday. She left active political life a number of years ago but is still a leading light – not to mention a rare female presence – in the Oireachtas Golf Society.”
Lorraine is a consultant for odious lobbyists MKC Communications (who threatened to sue us recently) where she currently shills (calling in old favours in Leinster House all the while) for this gene harvesting outfit: https://www.broadsheet.ie/2019/08/14/its-in-their-genes/
was the threat on the basis of the article linked, bodger? defamation?
Brother, it was over another piece.
thanks
Bodger I hope you frame all the legal threats Broadsheet receives and hang them up on the office wall for posterity, with DOB given pride of place in the middle of the gallery wall
:)
Wrightbus is on the brink.

The firm with a staff of 1,400, 86% of whom are Protestant is facing collapse after failing to find a buyer. Oh, and look, there’s Ian Paisley. Is he the DUP MP who told LBC in London that “they can build a wall between the North and South, the higher the better”
I’ll hang you by your northern bitter tits if you keep using that 86% stats eoin.
Yours,
Dismissed Gay, CCMS HQ, Holywood, Co Down.
Charming.
Read more about the church here.
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/social-affairs/religion-and-beliefs/the-church-that-helps-you-fall-in-love-with-jesus-1.3299728
Would you like to declare your cultural appropriation and background please eoin?
Context is important- I can administer a full bottle of milk of magnesia if your prefer?
I meant I know people working in both Wrights and others in Green Pastures fulltime, have no reason to believe they are doing anything dodgy but that’s not to say the top man isn’t up to no good and pulling the wool over the eyes of people who believe they only do good
Looks like the US military base at Shannon airport is about to get a lot busier with the decision by the US to deploy thousands to Saudi Arabia (after last week’s attack on oil facilities) and to rattle a sabre at Iran.

If Trump and Pence are such BFFs with Bojo, then fly on for an extra 30 minutes and have your base in your Nato ally, the UK.
Too right! The light weight Aussie PM, Scumo, is in Washington, getting wined and dined. The three stooges – Scumo, Bojo and Trump. A scary lack of brain power there.
Right wing think in.
The charts are out for book sales in the week up to Saturday 14 September.
Vicky Phelan is #1 in the softcover non-fiction.
Christy Dignam is #1 in the hardcover non-fiction.
I highly doubt either placing had anything much to do with the Late Late Show appearances which were broadcast on 13 September late. If Vera Twomey can make it to #1 without being hawked around Montrose, how relevant is the LLS, 9am Tubridy, Marian etc.
And the Beano 2020 Annual has entered at #10 in the Childrens (nostalgic adults) charts.Go, Minnie the Minx!
Meanwhile, the British state is engaged in outright aggressive hostility to Ireland. North and south, except the DUP are to narrow minded to see it. Britain is declaring an economic war against Ireland and nothing in our media or from the government about it. Maybe it’s best to wait and see for now, but I don’t see an easy relationship going forward.
No media reporting of the stabbing at the RDS – is it too cultural enriching for us? Too diverse?
Irish Times reports “The victim was not stabbed, contrary to reports circulating on social media” Mind you, the Irish Times goes on to report “the Higher Options event, organised by The Irish Times, is an annual three-day education expo for second level students, providing help in making decisions about future studies.”, so they have a dog in the race. There was definitely an assault though.
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/male-youth-injured-during-assault-at-event-in-the-rds-1.4024923
A very fluffy article. There seems to be a refusal by the media to publish the facts – that is, what part of Irish culture (or not as the case may be) has reared it’s ugly head.
All the tabloids pixelated the camera footage so you couldn’t make out if they were black or hooded white kids.
Screwdriver to the head for victim 1. Victim 2 got a hammer to the face, shattered nose. Perpetrator is black. I can’t understand why that’s not reported.
Cos it’s wascist..
I wonder if the gardai in Macroom found the attackers of the two women last tuesday described here. https://www.echolive.ie/corknews/Macroom-Gardai-issue-second-witness-appeal-to-mugging-of-elderly-woman-987dfcd2-552a-4c1f-8187-6516d03d5eb6-ds
I mean, they’ve given such a detailed description of the attackers – “The two suspects are described as both being tall, thin and in their late teens/early 20s.”
I’m surprised that there aren’t queues of people at the station with details of their identities.
No pixelation on this https://www.politicalirish.com/threads/rds-stabbing.32248/
“Her constituents will have their chance to respond soon enough”
gonna tell ya now (sadly)
the way this kiphole we live in works if selected by Fianna Gael she will likely score a seat
she could have been caught eating babies on the wards in Holles st. & she’d still score her seat
come GE time a certain type of voter is prepared to overlook issues so long as their “team” wins especially in the ur-ee-aah she stalks
how’d the oul trout that lied & hung Maurice McCabe out to dry get on? how does the convicted tax fraudster down in Tipp get on every time? exactly.
stupid voters
