Loved this.
“Branched off”
I’ve been trying to explain evolution to a 5 year old for a few weeks now
it’s difficult
hmm. my 5 year old started school this year and has been coming home with ‘god made everything’ guff already. my own attempts at explaining an alternative view had me dancing around the room in a monkey mask. i hope things went better for you, bro.
thought I’d made a breakthrough at one point – “ahhhhh, ok… so we all get turns to be very sort of animal?”

…Atheist Ireland have a book: “Is my family odd about gods” for this age…

Or it didn’t happen Scottie
Thems the rules
I think I’d show a few practical examples of change and difference in animals/insects….
Show him a time lapse video of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly.
Show him flightless birds v birds that fly.
Point out all the different breeds of dogs.
that kinda thing :)
theres a great book called One Smart Fish (chris wormell)
bit early yet for clamps jnr, but soon
I don’t know if it’s still available, but of they’re interested there’s an adorable graphic novel called The Sandwalk Adventures where an eldelry Charles Darwin persuades a mite living in his eyebow that he’s not their creator and talks about his expeditions and explains evolution. It’s lovely.
Personally I’d avoid dog breeds – these are a result of selective breeding by humans – so are intelligent design.
ah but their eyebrows evolved to make their faces more sympathetic to how sapians read expression, only huskies don’t have this feature, hence puppy eyes
They forgot to include Kerry people
Amazing how it all happened without any women being involved.
