I think it might be an interesting week for the Brexit saga. I wonder if Boris can get a deal through parliament.
martco
yeah, Boris & Varadker…
it’s as if they’ve completely forgotten about “the old firm derby” which they probably have
all these fellas are just doing is what they’re good at – optics
GiggidyGoo
They’re not even good at the optics.
Steph Pinker
But, but, but, according to RobunderscoreG*******, Leo is taller than most world leaders, therefore that makes him a Taoiseach to be proud of!
What about those optics? Don’t they deflect from the really important issues?
GiggidyGoo
BoJo is playing a blinder for Brexiteers, and has once again pulled the wool over the eyes of Varadkar and Barnier. He is a Pro Rogue alright. He is a liar and a miscreant (to quote an English playwright) who will never change. He and Varadkar are well matched in the lies department.
scottser
But he’s twice as popular as Corbyn, according to the poll run by the express, only for express readers. In other news scottser was voted sexiest man on earth by scottser on broadsheet.

Congratulations Scotty

Conceding that the customs border is going in the Irish Sea is playing a blinder?
If he hasn’t secured a deal by 31st he is toast but, If he is returned in a general election because he has secured a deal- ANY DEAL- it will be by a sizable majority in which case- the DUP become irrelevant.
GiggidyGoo
My point is that they are both liars. But BoJo is more notorious. He will try anything to run down the clock in my opinion. He will try anything to get out of having to ask for an extension. Parliament is currently prorogued I believe. BoJo will suffer the little fellow from Ireland and put out any joint statement that suits the particular time. In the meantime he is planning and conniving how to achieve his own personal goal.
That joint statement is a pot of waffle.

Toddle on lad. Come back when you’ve started secondary school.
GiggidyGoo
Name change again. Good little chap. Tsk tsk there there.
GiggidyGoo
The media in the UK aren’t overly generous with the information on the stabbings in Manchester. Like our own here as it happens. No full descriptions of perpetrators. Having seen the videos posted online, all I can say is ‘coming to a location near you soon’ courtesy of Varadkar, Martin, McDonald and Co. (Probably has come to a location near you already?)
some old queen
And when was the last time you heard of someone being described as Caucasian? The only time an assailant’s race is of relevance is if it is a racially motivated attack and at this point- nobody knows if that is the case.
If you feel that multiculturalism does not work then by all means put forward your arguments but this insidious inference- mainly by the far right- that somehow black or Muslim people are more likely to commit violence than white- is bullpoo.
GiggidyGoo
Far Right? How come that’s the default accusation? My opinions are my own. If your own opinions are the opposite does that make you Far Left?
some old queen
I am hardly far left now gigs and I know you are not far right but I do think that at times you can get unduly influenced by them. The point you are making- that the assailant’s race was not mentioned- is a common theme in these people’s twitter posts.
But in this case it is not even correct. Some media said he was black- and also that one of his victims was black- so unless and until another motive is presented- let’s just assume that a madman with a machete is just a madman with a machete and that his skin colour is irrelevant.
GiggidyGoo
Glad we cleared up the ‘right’ and ‘left’s thing. Good to know you know that it’s a case of being.mad. Same police reaction as Manchester 2018 December. Put it down to madness . Yep.
…here Bodger…you let these people spout their bile everyday… yet, I’m the one on the naughty step…

Everyone is on the naughty step- he’s ran out of Xanax- or antidepressants- or probably just hairspray.

This comment (which we’re leaving up) might demonstrate the degree of heart-sinking nastiness that we often (every day) have to deal with here in Moderation Villas and may explain to those who have expressed concern why we’ve been trigger happy of late. The vast, overwhelming majority of commenters/contributors are/is not like this and are/is very kind (like Ireland). *reaches for Xanax*
millie vanilly strikes again
I know I’m guilty of it as much as the next fool. Thanks for the reminder to be more mindful of my words, Bodge and Co.

Maybe deal with your own problem on its own merits eh Bisted?
People do not earn more because they are long distance commuters. They are either willing or able to commute long distances to work BECAUSE they are well paid.
If you’re poorly paid you can’t afford a long commute and where would the incentive be to put up with it?
Lilly
How much would you have to be paid to accept a job that required a 90-minute commute? (3 hours a day).
George
You miss the point. The Daily Mail says that the figures are surprising. They aren’t. If you are poorly paid a long commute going to be less viable due to the cost of public transport or parking. So it makes perfect sense that the people making that effort and going to that expense are likely to be better paid.
Lilly
What makes you think I missed the point? I simply asked a related question out of curiosity. What kind of money does it take to get people to sacrifice huge chunks of their time like this? I don’t know anyone driving up and down from Carlow or I’d ask them.
Gabby
Greta Thunberg deprived of Nobel prize by secret vote? Is that something we should be worried about? Sure, Greta has inspired many western world school students to ‘strike’ against the older generations’ failure effectively to stop climate change. But are all the campaign activities likely to achieve peaceful objectives, and, in the case of some ideological motivation of extermination rebels, is the mindset peaceful and being promoted by freethinking people?
Lurch
Do you think that “peaceful objectives” are more likely to be achieved by droughts, famines, floods, extreme weather and forced migration?
Also what are “extermination rebels”???
Termagant
I’d say she’s been a singularly damaging influence on peace worldwide, and quiet too.

Very stupid headline from the Daily Mail.
