Meaty.
This morning.
Agriculture House, Kildare Street, Dublin 2.
Farmers blocking Cormac Healy from Meat Industry Ireland from arriving at a new Beef Task Force who met for the first time this morning at the Department of Agriculture to examine the future of the beef industry in Ireland.
The task force was agreed to by beef farmers and organisations, and representatives of the beef processing sector last month following weeks of protests.

UPDATE:
The first meeting of the newly formed Beef Market Taskforce has been adjourned until further notice.
The adjournment comes following angry scenes at the entrance to the Department of Agriculture offices where farmers had been protesting since early this morning.

cormac healy looks like he’s fond of a cheeseburger.
or four
…and will the next corpulent lady to show up here be fair game…?
yup
there’s a big difference between curves and looking like you ate all the pies,
I know that’s not a popular stance in Ireland,
for example I put four cream in my tea, if I’m not careful I’ll look like I put double cream in my tea and I’ll know why,
just a fact
we’d still love you, j (though we’d of course make fun of you too)
I’d expect a very stern talking to
;)
You should be dragged out into the car park and whipped Janet- but you’d probably like that so- a good stern talking too- yes.
Veal or no veal
Beef is such a boring meat. If these lads were shrimp farmers, they would have my backing.
like anything it depends on the chef @Pee
a Côte de boeuf + your shrimp properly pan seared by the right hands with a rosemary/thyme/seasoned butter is an unbeatable marriage imho
and a man who can cook that is marriage material
Haha really? In that case ..
why would a man who can cook want to get married?
as I day meself ” why have a dog and bark yourself “
PS: I like my omlete baveuse
i’d never come across that term until a couple of months ago (via An Omelette and a Glass of Wine, which i heartily recommend). up until then, i’d got by with moist.
it’s a good word, salacious
ah Janet
be happy to feed u anytime
but no aisle business for me ever again so we’d have to keep it casual like
casual surf and turf it is
Farmers are deadly at negotiating in fairness
In fairness to beef producers- they are probably the only industry in Ireland who are told how much they can produce and how much they can charge- and when that changes, they are the last to know.
But how or when did an Island like Ireland become so exclusively focused on the raising of animals for beef or diary?
At what point did it become profitable to buy every single inch of land and turn it into an Irish version of Texas?
The only trees left are hawthorn and that is because of the fairies- mystical not gay obviously.
Saoirse McHugh nails it on the cheap fashion btw- on the mark- more of you please?
Meat Industry Ireland a front for Larry Goodman and Co, whats MII connection
with IBEC, the appointment of Micheal Dowling as Chairman of the Beef Task
Force needs to be overturned, as what did he ever do in his capacity as Secretary
of the Dept of Agriculture to tackle the Beef Processing Monopoly or indeed
the owing of Factory Type Feed Lots by the processors, the extensive business
empires amassed by the Beef Barons on the backs of the farmers need to
be looked at also
