That there are links to the proximity of the British border in Ireland should come as no surprise- only those on the extreme right wrap the tricolour tighter- a more money hungry bunch of whores you will not find.

Apart from landlords obviously- but the two definitely intersect, especially in Monaghan.

        1. GiggidyGoo

One picture of him in a truck shows ‘Ireland’ in red letters, underneath a Red and White crest, which suggests the opposite to a tricolour supporter.

          1. some old queen

He’s being hung out because he is a Prod dear- a Prod who identifies as British- after all, a cargo suffocation here and there is just a collateral loss on the oul South Armagh spreadsheet.

      1. some old queen

You do not know the border region if you think business will be disrupted by such minor details.

Some of my English associates still blather on about 1966 and chant the ‘Two World Wars and One world Cup’ mantra; if they win the RWC they’ll be insufferable. I won’t mention Brexit in response though *cough*.

Notwithstanding, I’d like to see Wales win and bring it to the Northern Hemisphere for a change – IF they can beat SA tomorrow.

    1. GiggidyGoo

Thing is, if they do win it, it’ll make guessing the numbers on combination locks, PIN numbers very easy for criminals.

    2. Jimbo

England on course to win their second world cup in a year having knocked Australia and New Zealand out in both of them.
Who cares if they’ll be insufferable – winners are always grinners.
Ireland were like that just over a year ago until a visit to Twickers and then the Japanese launching the biggest surprise since Pearl Harbour softened their cough.
Welcome to sport where no-one cares about the losers.

…if the huge percentage professing to be catholic according to the loaded question in the last census were to chip in a couple of euro the investment portfolio of the church would not be at risk…

‘Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh to replace Mary Kennedy as the new face of RTE’s Nationwide’ – What a terrible choice of replacement.

And here we are in the Ballyhaunis factory watching a cow being hauled up by the hind legs before it’s throat is cut but sure I am freshly botoxed- and my hair and make-up is blood proof.

        1. Tea And Brexits

4 hours. Very happy. We were blessed with perfect running weather. It was mental out there; a different world – everyone helping each other, trying, failing, trying again, doing their best. There’s something restorative of humanity about these events.

  4. Spaghetti Hoop

Do we really need to know more about the sexual shenanigans of that wan Lowry? What happened to that decent man was dreadful – justice was served – leave it there.

    1. Lilly

Jeez SpagHo, blame the woman why don’t you. Is that really all you took from that sorry saga? She was single, a free agent who didn’t murder anyone. How dare she have a sex life.

    2. Lilly

Seems reasonable. Saving Quirke’s wife from further deceit, humiliation and seeing off his rival. Two birds. Quirke was obviously honouring his vows and taking great care not to destroy his own marriage.

      1. Lilly

Wow Diddly, I hope you’re never on jury duty. No one deserves to die for exposing – or in this case, threatening to expose – a complete charlatan. You sound like someone who needs to grow a pair.

      2. GiggidyGoo

George – banning it will of course mean that it returns with a new name here. It’s a serial miscreant.

      1. bisted

…it’s a year since we voted by referendum to remove the medieval blasphemy law from the constitution…this consultation is to assist in that removal…we must be vigilant that it not replaced by some other draconian legislation…

      1. Brother Barnabas

giggidy would like to know how you feel about the inclusion of an athlete who has a history of making borderline racist, sexist and homophobic comments on twitter in the first consultation on hate speech

I’m assuming it’s the fact that the athlete is black is really what giggidy is getting at

        1. GiggidyGoo

Trust you BB. The point I’m getting at is the hypocrisy of our JUSTICE Minister who is pushing the first consultations on hate.
And like last week, you’re the one that has brought colour into it.
How do you feel about it by the way – instead of attacking the messenger? Your evasion of the answer quite noticeable.
Have you read the tweets by the way?

          1. Brother Barnabas

I think it was ill-advised and stupid to include him

but, again, I dont think that’s the point you’re looking to make

          2. GiggidyGoo

I actually don’t care what you might assume. You know my feelings towards FG and the likes of Flanagan. And that’s the reason I posted this.

          3. Janet, I ate my avatar

so let me get this straight you want an opinon on my feelings on your feelings about this fella and that’s why you posted it ?
            ( I don’t do Twitter..cess pit)

          4. GiggidyGoo

No, Janet. You’re quick to post ‘rigggght’ when I give an explanation for my post. Last week was an example. That was some sort of decisive opinion on me and my views.
Yet, now, you don’t post ‘rigggght’ but instead play dumb. I’m not on twitter, like you, but you can read comments there. If you search you’ll find twitter links. But, you know that….riggggght?
So, unlike last week, you deviate from ‘rigggght’, and you resort to refusing to give an opinion on what a FG Justice Minister has invited into his armory, and do the usual shoot the messenger stunt.
Rather than having an opinion on me, do you have an opinion on the substance of my post?

          5. Janet, I ate my avatar

my apologies if I misjudged you, I had said righhht as you give the impression through your choice of words and comments to have issues with race/immigration, maybe it’s not your intention but it often reads that way

          6. Brother Barnabas

            is it ?

state your position then on african immigrants into ireland, please

I know what your views are, and I dont like them. that ok?

          7. GiggidyGoo

So, the conversation now goes from a FG Minister to you ‘knowing’ my views on african immigrants? Bit of diversion there. But my views on african immigrants is that if they are legal, and entitled to be here, I have absolutely no problem with that.
Now do you know my view?
And your view on the african immigrants?

          8. Janet, I ate my avatar

are you genuinely this unaware of how you come across here ? maybe try get an objective pal to give you an honest opinion, don’t take our word for it,
the lack of time in text gets lots of people into trouble,
you do come over of having a problem with immigration legal or otherwise

          9. GiggidyGoo

Janet. Maybe my sudden, ‘in your face’, posting style gives that impression. What I give is a view based on what i see. I have a deep mistrust of the FG and FF parties, and what they are doing, and am glad to have outlets like BS (which weren’t there previously) to express my views. BB, SOQ, V, and yourself do tend to put a label on me with pre-conceived notions.
If I’m asked to explain myself I do answer. That answer might not be what others like to read, but it’s my answer. There’s a tendency here to attack the person posting and disregard the content of the post and produce a label for the poster.
I do admit though that in the heat of debate I can get a little nasty in retorts to comments there are nasty.

          10. Brother Barnabas

not sure if that was supposed to elicit a laugh but it did

your punk-maverick commenting style aside, giggidy, you have – certainly at odds with your anti-FG stance – made some fairly far-right anti-immigrant comments. I’ve found a few of them offensive (but I’ll admit to being a fairly tender petal on an occasion).

          11. GiggidyGoo

Janet. As regards legal immigration i have absolutely no problem. Illegal though, I do have. As should anyone.
e.g. whatever happened to the first country of entry rule?
How I come across here isn’t actually my problem. Other posters views on my views are their ‘problem’ if they attack me, and not the subject matter of my posts.
Discussion is a great thing. Attempts to shut down opinions with attacks on the person though are….are what? Big swinging michael? Fear?

          12. Janet, I ate my avatar

“how you come across here isn’t my problem”
you see though it is, even that comment sounds strident and shuts down discussion, if you care about getting people to listen to whatever point
            there’s an expression in French
On n’attrape pas les mouches avec du vinaigre,
you don’t catch flies with vinager.

          13. GiggidyGoo

            BB
Waiting on your view on african immigrants.

            Legal immigrants?
            Illegal immigrants?

So, come on, let’s be having you.

          14. GiggidyGoo

            BB
You’ve written that i’ve made ‘made some fairly far-right anti-immigrant comments.’
            Quote please.

Oh, and by the way, my initial comment – would you consider Brandon Arrey ‘far right’ And, as you’re lambasting me for highlighting what he says, does that mean you agree with him?

Answer when you e finished laughing.. Maybe you can include it in your opinion on the subject you brought up

            Legal african immigrants.
            Illegal african immigrants

            I’m very interested.

          15. Brother Barnabas

where did I lambast you for highlighting arrey’s comments?

and of course I dont agree with him – the man is clearly an idiot. but again that has nothing to do with him being black, an immigrant etc

          16. GiggidyGoo

Doesn’t matter what colour he is. Glad you don’t go along with him.

Now, third time of asking. Your view on (seeing as you brought the subject up, (and I had the courtesy to answer you)

            a) Legal african immigrants
            and
            b) Illegal african immigrants

          17. Brother Barnabas

african or other, I support everyone in their efforts to do right by themselves and their families

if those efforts happen to be illegal, that’s ok by me

          18. GiggidyGoo

Thanks BB. That clarifies it. Illegality, in your own words ‘ it’s ok by me’. And there we shall leave this discussion.

          19. GiggidyGoo

Janet – that french saying. That could just as easily be applicable to you (Riggggght ?) There’s another saying – ‘people in glasshouses shouldn’t throw stones’

And no, its not my problem. I take all sorts of insults (and return a few) here from people with their own agendas and interests. The problem is with people that are unwilling to debate and resort to assumptions and personal attacks. And the problem is theirs. Some have such a problem that they continually change their user name to launch attacks. Looks like those have problems.

Others have a problem with creating assumptions and make sweeping statements about other posters. They refer to things like SOQ’s ‘you have form’ and as above ‘you’ve made some fairly far-right anti-immigrant comments’. I asked BB to ‘quote please’ and guess what? No quote. Yet last week, and this week it was BB who tried to introduce the racism and immigration cards, which had nothing to do with my starter posts. I wonder then, who has the problem?

          20. Janet, I ate my avatar

            clearly I struck a nerve,
I don’t consistently use aggressive language and Nige, I don’t really care enough to relentlessly try to score points either,
I like scrolling through with coffee in bed,
all I know is a little respect and decency on here makes that a more positive experience, take from that what you will,
judging by your last answer, it won’t be much ;)

          21. Janet, I ate my avatar

Nige* nigel/ nigle..? can’t spell, too early to Google,
it’s gonna be a gorgeous day

          22. GiggidyGoo

Ah Janet. At least you admit that you do use aggressive language.
And what is this reference to Nige, Nigel? Don’t tell me you have gone into assumption mode.
Looks like, unlike me, one of your own nerves has been struck. You, see, you’ve just resorted to assumptions and attacking the messenger and you’ve just tried to score some point by writing an assumption that I’m Nige, or Nigel.

Just to be absolutely clear, Janet. I use one identity and one only here. I think you do too. Just wondering why you have to resort to assumptions then. If you make a point on misplaced assumptions, that point is then invalid.

          23. Janet, I ate my avatar

wow, way to prove my point, niggle, you know chip away, I never said anything about avatars, agressive ? I have one word for ya
            righhht,
couldn’t resist, I always laugh loudest at my own homes , sorry :) not sorry :)
            peace out, I’m done here

          1. Man On Fire

Don’t sweat GG, I love all your comments.

            No judgement from me.

Diddly eye sounds familiar though, how many failed avatars is it at this stage now!?

          2. Man On Fire

Mission accomplished. His account will be put in moderation and he’ll just come back under a new avatar. Same troll new avatar.

Maith an fear GG. My favorite commenter.

        2. GiggidyGoo

The diddly fellow has an identity problem. However the comments are much the same as a fingerprint.

I don’t sweat here. I have my views and defend them. You get a heap of people trying to twist my arguments and try to divert the conversation to their own personal agendas.

It takes time, but you sometimes eventually get to where they are at. BB for instance seemingly knows me any my views intimately. But when it comes to him answering a simple question, it takes three times of asking, and the revelation eventually is that he’s ok with illegality. Enough said.

Janet on the other hand is, I think, an honest poster and does hear what’s being said.

          V likes cakes

SOQ can’t resist mentioning sexuality in most conversations.

          1. Brother Barnabas

if you ever find yourself in a desperate situation where breaking the law is your only option, you’ll at least know that out there somewhere I’m with you. I trust that gives you a warm feeling on this cold october morning.

          2. Janet, I ate my avatar

I’d probably break the law if the people I loved were in desperate need or had no future especially if the kids were involved

          1. GiggidyGoo

MK27 /B9 has left the building. ROFL.
Problem now it that any replies to his comments go under other posters comments, so it gets hard to follow.

        3. GiggidyGoo

Of course, Diddly Eidle B9 , you forgot to read this conversation from the beginning, and try pull the usual shoot the messenger stunt too.
Go back, read the first post, google what i’ve written, and then (if some of it sinks in) come back and explain why you think my calling out a Minister for utilizing a notorious hate speech perpetrator, is hate speech.

        4. GiggidyGoo

Janet, ‘I’d probably break the law if the people I loved were in desperate need or had no future especially if the kids were involved’ But you used the word ‘probably’ which BB didn’t. The other point is – who decides whether immigrants are economic, refugees, or asylum seekers?
Once people arrive here, they are eventually deemed legal or illegal, entitled or not entitled to be here. The legal and entitled ones stay, a lot of the illegal and non-entitled ones stay also.

Whatever happened to the ‘first country of arrival’ law? Coveney every so often mentions the legality of other subject matters, but not this one. There are no direct flights to Ireland from syria for instance as far as I know – they travel via Heathrow or Luxembourg or Schipol etc.

          1. Brother Barnabas

“dems the rules”, says the self-confessed jobsworth

fupp the rules, giggidy. you need to loosen your cacks a little.

          1. GiggidyGoo

An mores the pity some aren’t prepared to do anything much more than attack the messenger, not the message and try to divert the conversation to their own hang ups.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Yep. Mr Brother ‘Illegality doesn’t bother me’ Barnabas brings out his labelling machine once again.
I think, similar to the Diddly fellow, perhaps it’s time for to toddle along too. It a bit pointless trying to have a debate with you when you aren’t capable of it.

      2. GiggidyGoo

It will become clear when you google Brandon Array, and find the hypocrisy when you eventually find his tweets on the wayback machine. Charlie Flanagan happy to meet this fellow and include him in his hate speech pot. One question is……
        – why does our Minister of Justice, and Garda Commissioner Harris include a fellow that has posted hate (actually, extreme hate) on his twitter account of various nationalities, and include him in this first consultation.
        – is Flanagan that stupid?

          1. GiggidyGoo

Yes, these guys that dictate to us, make laws, introduce taxes for us, press voting buttons for other TDs yet haven’t the wherewithal to check out who they bring on as allies for what should be a focused lead up to legislation for, in this case, hate speech.

          2. Janet, I ate my avatar

I think most Irish politicians are a bunch of self serving, indulgent, self scratching jokers

          3. GiggidyGoo

Janet. Apart from their being self-serving, their (published) views are at odds with their actions. They are prone to a quick change when their political lives need it.
            e.g. Coveney on abortion
            e.g. Varadkar on abortion

Their problem is sites like this and social media when they are called out instantly.

  5. Clampers Outside

Blathnaid to replace Mary on Nationwide.

    Ah…. nuts….

That’s a very good chillout half hour of TV gone to ruin… :/

    1. GiggidyGoo

Nationwide was a particularly decent piece of broadcasting. Matter-of-fact, not hyped, localized reporting. The presenter was charming. I don’t know the Blaithnaid woman. Hopefully the program keeps its formula and doesn’t try some perceived ‘upmarket’ version with half nude Benny Hill dancers.

      1. Lilly

Mary and Anne are charming and gracious. Blathnaid is a dose and a bore. Not a good fit for Nationwide.

  6. Darren

There is something scary happening. That is not even about blaithnaid. Would the Irish lad consider himself in that way or would he see himself as a unionst .. the faithful acceptance of the British narrative on this is hopefully just negligence… and maybe the picture of that lad holding a flag is not really of him .. but the angles that have been coming from media over the weekend suggest that it might just be that it is inconvenient for some brexity reasons.. could that be why the culchie love triangle made it back around… a home spun publication that does not want to reiterate the holding narrative about the Irish lad.. and cos it’s a Sunday .. prurience over politics … we might find out on Tuesday… after the lads court date and the irish banks are back open … Effing uck?
