Last night.
Mount Street, Dublin 2.
A picket by members of United Against Racism outside Fine Gael Headquarters to protest about the vote by MEPs Mairead McGuinness, Maria Walsh, Frances Fitzgerald and Sean Kelly who voted against a resolution in the European Parliament which proposed to facilitate search and rescue for refugees in the Mediterranean.

Clare Daly still getting a free pass for this?
yea i kinda thought the same. i like her, but i thought “had to go home for a military veterans gig” didn’t seem .. at all as important as voting on the lives of refugees.
Whataboutery from b as per usual.
Was FG general secretary Tom Curran seen peeking out through the curtain of a top floor office window during this rather frightful demonstration?
Maria Walsh… almost as good on radio as Maria Bailey.
Myra Hindley did their media training.

it was bloody painful to listen to her floundering. she was let at it too, the host gave her all the air time she needed. yet she ended up never saying anything. then throwing in the bit about data protection? from a fine gaaler? mindless reasoning from a party who are fighting the data proctection agency.
FG are fair game for this but who are United Against Racism? Fair bit of of overlap between People Before Profit as far as I can tell. So, one communist political party picketing christian democrat political party? Hmmm….
As a mental exercise, who has a bigger carbon footprint – a Somalian living in Somalian conditions in Somalia or a Somalian migrant living a decadent Western lifestyle over here?
Interesting question; if they did all of their cooking/heating using an open fire, possibly the Somalian living in Somalia.
Only is they are using coal/turf. If the open fire is burning wood/dung it would be effectively carbon-neutral.
That’s mostly true – provided they weren’t chopping down any trees expressly to burn them (I presume the forestry replanting in Somalia could be a bit patchy).
“decadent”
Corporations.
