Those Carter lads. Is there no beginning to their talents..
Is there a specific reason why this is seen as some sort legitimate art form in this country and not rightly ridiculed like everywhere else on the planet?
It is a comedy for kids.
It’s definitely for kids..!!
Oh no it’s not!!
Remember the days of shouting “He’s behind you!” at Al Porter.
And then there was his pantomime work….
You could tread the boards as Buttons, Bertie – you saucy mare.
Mrs Merton: So AIan, what first attracted you to dressing up and performing with kids?
And because it’s kids, it’s the hardest work they’ll do. You try keep the attention of a few hundred kids for 2 hours and see how you get on.
I just see it as larking about in fancy dress, and getting unwarranted amounts of money for it.
Guess I’m a panto-sceptic.
I don’t think they paid loads of money. And normally there is matinée and an evening show 5 or 6 days a week; it’s a grueling enough couple of months, I’d say.
Damn- I thought the Tivoli being torn down would have at least one upside of never seeing Sammy fecking Sausages on posters ever again. ;(
Do you know what: I think I’ll visit each panto this year and do a review for BS come Jan. Maybe, just maybe, there is a sliver of silver in those double entendres.
