I see that Grafton Quarter rebrand is going well.
Seriously lads, the amount of anger being expressed here.
There are many *many* things worth getting angry and upset about today.
That? Meh.

Oh.
FIGHT!
ah go and poo Rick, if we didn’t get annoyed at stupid things then more stupid things would happen.
that said, the LUAS chimes in daily with ‘O’Connell Street Shopping District’. District? Like District 9 yeah?
I just rolled my eyes do hard it hurt… quarter my hoop
Grafton “Quarter”? HA! The Celtic Paper Tiger lasts another few months. Quarter!! Priceless!!
Pfffft.. ye wouldn’t get that on Henry Plaza !!
+1/4
Dublin has to invent new ‘Quarters’ every few years to pretend its a dynamic exciting city and not just a square mile of British High Street chains with added junkies. Somebody opens 2 Burrito shacks next to each other – it’s the ‘Latin Quarter’.
I tend to avoid the junkie quarter, which seems to stretch from the 2 canals now.
Quarter? More like a whole!
True.
– still better than Galway’s “Latin” Quarter.
Given the amount of lines hovered in that area they should have called it Grafton Gram.
Do the idiots not realise they are referring the area around Grafton Street which includes Grafton Street itself? They are not renaming the street.
well it’s not a name on any city map, so it was fabricated. and unless it was fabricated by you, you cant be 100% sure as to where they’re referring to.
from a county council happy to sell every square inch of the city to americans to build new offices and hotels, i’ve no doubt this is an attempt to americanise the city further.
Guess what? All names are fabricated!
And then, (if they catch on), they get added to Maps.
how do you do italics in comments on here?
like this?
just type this
first one turns on Italics, the second one turns it off.
woa, seems complex .. but an old doc can learn new tricks. thanks!

ah christ .. i mean, they have to be easy to figure out .. surely bold would be .. this
you’re not bold! you need to be strong!
LOL. It’s is funny the way everything has to be a ‘quarter’ nowadays. It least they didn’t call it SoStG or similar.
No it would be NoStG
Of course :)
Lord – don’t start giving them ideas…
I wonder where the other 3 quarters went ?
Dad joke of the day :)
I bought a thesaurus the other day. It’s not only terrible, it’s really terrible.
Robbing that!
Someone robbed my thesaurus. I’ve no words to describe how angry I am.
…thesauri doing split-infinitives now…you should have bought a Dublin one…they can do split-definitives …
I bought a thesaurus the other day. I can’t describe how bad it is.
I really didn’t think my new orthopaedic shoes would be any good, but I stand corrected..
I bought some shoes from a drug dealer. I don’t know what he laced them with, but I was tripping all day!
Lol!!! :)
A Quarter is meant to be a descriptive of a part of an urban settlement and the descriptive can refer to inhabitants, commercial trend or lifestyle hence we have italian quarters or financial quarters or bohemian quarters.
Grafton is a non descriptive unless it’s changed to Graftin’ perhaps. If it was Grafton Shopping Quarter that may do but probably incur the same wrath anyway. Gentrification at it’s finest.
Are we getting Henry Quarter? Mary Quarter? O’Connell Quarter?
Yes,we can call it smack head quarter
Rick O’Shea is a flute.
“It’s official, #DublinTownChristmas is here and we’ve brand new lights to welcome you to #GraftonQuarter!”
Some of those “brand new lights” look remarkably similar to last year’s lights.
20+ years.. I think the new sign is the one that says Grafton Quarter.. and, we are right to be indignant at these meaningless changes. If we didn’t mock we would still have the floosey in the jacuzzi, the chime in the slime and de spike in the s*ite. Oh, we still have that one. Grafton quarter me whole..
It will last until the next recession/crippling depression coming down the pipe in the next 18 months then this “Quarter” business will be forgotten just like Arthur Guinness day (remember that farce?)
It’s lame but it isn’t as lame as “The East Village” in Galway, which is essentially Forster Street
Wasn’t there an attempt to brand an area close to Heuston Station as SoHo ?
What became of that.
Good sense and a bit of perspective..
