RIP. His Reading from the Book of William is a classic of its genre. Can’t find a recording.
Poor auld Slipper.
Had a cassette of his stand up when I was a kid, played it to death –
loved him.
Was lucky enough to see him playing Behan in Borstal Boy years later.
May he RIP.
As a kid I loved his story/sketch/joke about finding a specific part for a specific kinda van… “a blue van”. We had on VHS and it got put on annually at least :)
Anyone know of a link to it (“a blue van” is all I can remember of it), that’d be great :0)
RIP that fella Tobín
Great performance from him here, in Irish film, ‘Poitín.’ https://youtu.be/4y72vCaZA8g Must see movie.
+1
aw, that’s really sad news. what an amazing talent and legacy.
RIP
A great man and actor.. sadly missed..
I ate his liver with some Nialto beans and a nice Chianti.
His joke about the two lads from Coosan on a snowy morning is unbeatable. “Hardy man.”
A great comedic and dramatic performer. 89 though… A great age. RIP.
A genuinely funny man and probably Ireland greatest raconteur. R.I .P.
I think he personally created the “Cyahhvan” stereotype, eg eating their dinner in a drawer
