‘sup?
Last week, with a Golden Discs voucher worth a horse-calming €25 on offer, I asked for Your favorite song featuring the saxophone.
You answered in your dozens.
But there could be only one winner:
Third Place:
Johnny Logan – What’s Another Year
Robert writes;
It’d have to be Johnny Logan singing Shay Healy’s song with Colin Tully on sax. Starts with a sax, and has that sax solo kicking in at 2.30! The song that scored Ireland its second Eurovision victory – words that we shall never hear again: ‘Ireland – Eurovision – Victory’
Runner up:
Ezra Furman – Lousy Connection
Fez writes:
For me a sax solo has to go a bit crazy and squeaky a la Bowie sax solos, I first heard this song the day that David Bowie died and it shone a little light on that day…
Winner:
Gerry Rafferty – Baker Street
Ruille Buille writes:
It’s got to be Gerry Rafferty ‘Baker Street’. Innit!
Thanks all.
Last week: Win Nick’s Voucher
Born to Run didn’t win it? You monsters.
“Tough one. I think I’d have to say The Best of The Beatles.”
Ah now.
Too snarky?
I have to get up at 2am and 4am to let my dog out for a wee, I’m probably just grumpy.
No Careless Whisper? “That’s just careless”, he whispered.
I agree…she whispered
Did you know that Hugh Burns, who played the guitar solo on baker street was also George Michael’s guitarist?
Three great choices! Having spent the weekend listening to all the entries, this was a tough one to call, one I did not envy you having to make.
We need more sax and jazz in our lives :)
I think I read that wrong…
I have a tendency to replace the opposite to constants with the others of their kind
Oh, behave!
tee hee
Love a bit of sax in the morning- a return Dublin taxi for an illegal Brazilian is not cheap mind.
saxamaphone saxamaphoneeeeee
And while I am rarely if ever pedantic, the sax part in baker street is a repeated instrumental section. The solo or lead break is played by the guitar.
