BBC’s Mock the Week (top) and Have I Got News For You (above)
Promise
(inspired/provoked by UK-based comedians, who used to be edgy, savagely lampooning Jeremy Corbyn and Labour’s British General Election campaign)
If you piss on the frail
red-petalled flower
just now nudging its way back up
from presumed extinction,
with your cynicism and your sneers;
the day of your funeral
I’ll pay a team of loudspeakers,
town criers, and dogs to howl
at the few mourners about
how useless you were
when it really mattered,
until it’s the one trait of yours
anyone remembers;
then call the Union of Worms, Death Beetles,
and Incinerator Operators out
on an official strike that will apply
only to you, so your sour carcass can sit
forever lodged in the world’s gut
as a warning to future others.

I think it was John Major who said that there’s a point in politics beyond where people dislike you or even hate you…..It’s where people actually start to feel sorry for you because you’re having such a crap time of it.
Corbyn not being able to make hay even with the disaster of Brexit and the clowning of Boris makes people (like the author of this poem) feel sorry for him.
Was listening to the guardian podcast this morning and they reckon Boris is in serious danger of losing his seat….
They would.
It’s the Guardian.
Do you ever listen to anything else outside your echo chamber ?
The new Harry Styles single is decent.
Charger gets floored, again.
How so, if you don’t mind posting a summary?…
I don’t trust the guardian since it betrayed it’s roots and allowed itself to be corrupted by various state influences.. RE: Julian Assange etc.

Now labeled an anti Semite by many religious leaders his toxicity matches or even surpassed Hillary Clinton’s
His future is now behind him as his manifesto looks more of a fewesto
Ye his record breaking jump in support, completely unforeseen by the pollsters in 2017 was purely out of sympathy…
People know and are tired of it.

Yeah. 2017 and 2019 are two different times though.
Ye, true but I’m backing social democracy, equality, justice, human rights and an end to corrupt austerity policies against the 99%… for the win.

@Bud Flanagan, Tel us your thoughts on “social democracy, equality, justice, human rights and an end to corrupt austerity policies against the 99%”…
Hash tags are often out of control and annoying but I rarely use them to be fair…

The author of this poem fully endorses Jeremy Corbyn and feels in no way sorry for him. He does however feel sorry, very sorry, for all the sad cynics.
The first 4 lines suggest you feel very sorry for and protective of Corbyn and the Labour Party. But I’m not the poet, so fair enough.
It’s a bit weird having a go at the satirists though. As if they have a responsibility to molly-coddle and nurture the Labour Party.
Maybe they are criticising him because he is an absolute tool, who can’t make a decision to save his life e.g. Breexit, the biggest issue facing the UK since WW2. And the tool won’t get off the fence. That is not being cynical, its the truth.
Or maybe they’re taking the pee because the man who would be Prime Minister doesn’t understand that issuing government bonds increases government debt.
In a nutshell… +1
I strongly disagree- I think he is the best strategist to come out of the UK for a long time- he runs rings around Johnson in HP. That the British media, who are largely right wing, are throwing everything bar the kitchen sink at him is testament to how radical he is.
3 MILLION new voter registrations and 80%+ of them are <35- the biggest electoral engagement in a very long time. Add that into a mix of an unpopular Johnston, tactical Brexit voting and promises to renationalise water, rail, free broadband and a massive house building program- it really is anyone’s game.
What is your opinion V? You are predicting big gains for Lib Dems I assume- anything else?
Nearly half of those registrations are from people who are already registered to vote, according to press reports.
And you’re assuming all of them are young people who will vote for Corbyn, whichis a mistake.
Anyhow, all eyes are on a big poll out at 10pm tonight, the first using the MRP method.
The company doing the poll were the only ones to predict a hung parliament last time.
Rumours are it will be good news for the Tories which is probably why Dominic Cummings is back blogging for the first time in months.

Things not going well for Corbyn again today.
Big media reveal of the ” secret ” minutes of the US-UK preliminary discussions about a trade deal.
Not only do they not reveal the NHS is on the table as Comrade Corbyn lied.
But the” top secret ” report has been up on Reddit since October.
https://www.reddit.com/user/gregoratior/
Morto.
small item of trivia: I had a fist fight with dominic cummings over contrary interpretations of a single line in anna karenina. he knows his dostoevsky but he’s not much use in a rumble.
…he knew enough not to mess with the brothers…wha…
That’s some desperate spin!
The meetings were in fact “secret” as Labour were previously only given a heavily redacted copy of the minutes (from just some of the meetings) by the Tories. With today’s announcement, Labour is throwing their weight behind the authenticity of leak and by doing so, is bringing the issue to a national stage as opposed to, you know, just existing on some anonymous Reddit channel – Why you would think is more significant! and negates Corbyn’s reveal to the wider public I don’t know. Did someone say internet bubble?
Watch Corbyn’s announcement for yourself. The case made is very compelling that NHS is indeed is on the table as part of the Trump-Tory trade talks.
https://twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1199645582849183746
Referring to page 52 of the 2nd meeting, Corbyn details how: “The UK & US have already finished initial discussions for lengthening patents held by Big Pharma on medicines..Longer patents can mean only one thing. More expensive drugs.”
Corbyn quotes page 42 of 3rd meeting “The US want total market access as the baseline assumption of the trade negotiations” Quote:”..on behalf of the UK government, UK officials reassure their US counterparts that the US should expect the UK to be a liberalising influence and together they could fly the good flag for services liberalisation” As Corbyn rightly says, “that’s a green light for breaking open Britain’s public services so corporations can profit from them”.
What would be more important to the average UK citizen – unsubstantiated claims of an antisemitism crisis in the Labour Party or their NHS being further dismantled by the Tories?
Ask Bud- that is why he is back commenting on this site after all.
Jaysus BB, he’s the power behind the PM and you’re discussing butthole-sunbathing on an obscure Irish website.
Where did it all go wrong champ ?
yes, suppose I have to take that one on the chin
Which chin … ?
Merton, Hislop and Dara O’Briain were never radicals. They were always Liberals. They were always more at home with Tony Blair than Michael Foot.
“UK-based comedians, who used to be edgy, savagely lampooning Jeremy Corbyn…”
– presumably the author’s thinking they were edgy corresponded with them ripping the pee out of people he himself didn’t like. Now that they are criticising the policies of someone whom he does like, their lampooning is “savage”.
+1 on that too
Ye, it’s a reasonable argument to make but your not taking into account the fact that it’s been fashionable for a very long time for most of the media(owned and controlled by billionaires) to take intentionally biased pot shots at Corbyn and it has filtered down into all kinds of areas poisoning discourse debate and objectivity around anything he tries to do about austerity and the real social issues.
Clearly enough people know this and are tired of it, as can obviously be seen from the surge in support for him in the 2017 election.

Look. Corbyn is like something from Citizen Smith’s Tooting Popular Front. It’s Stalinist Seventies Student Politics for people who got old but refused to grow up. Go on Jez, give it a rest.

” Jeremy greets a massive crowd ”
Massive.
* sniggers *
If you watch it again with an objective open mind, it’s obvious the crowd was greeting him when they started to sing Oh Jeremy Corbyn.. so then he took the time to acknowledge and thank them.
As usual, you bend the truth to suit your delusional thinking.
(Sniggers to self at how daft and easy it is to prove you wrong)

How many would you estimate the massive crowd that couldn’t be seen in the video ?

Goodnight Jezza.
