Prince Andrew’s behaviour’s doing a good job shortening his Christmas Card list. Endy Andy.

The knives are out for randy Andy for sure. But where are pertinent questions for Virginia? Who sexually her at 8, was it reported to police? What age did she become homeless and how many times was she raped? At 15, she goes for a job interview to a naked Epstein “just when I’m getting my life on track”. Who is famous prime minister and President that exploited her? She got 180,000 for an interview in 2010 —- how much more has she earned from high profile Andy case? No one is guilty or innocent from news headlines/TV programme.

50/50 will the High Court sign the endorsement of France’s warrant for Ian Baily to be sent over for a 25 year stay? The French found him guilty, in absentia, in a matter of days. If, he did murder Sophie Toscan du Plantier in 1996 in hindsight, he would have been better off confessing right away, and if he didn’t, well life has been tough on him, a nightmare.

Not a hope. The burden of proof required by the French to find him guilty in that weird trial in absentia that they had last year is nowhere near the same as in Ireland, so there is no way that he will be extradited.

The Claire Byrne show actually flew reporters out to doorstep Lisa Smith- really? In what way was this tacky carry-on in the public interest? Did it ever occur to them that they could have compromised ongoing investigations if she had actually responded?

Then Claire Byrne done a bloody interview with him- he said absolutely nothing of course.

I mean, how do you even start on the British newspapers? They openly ignore what they even published the previous day. Yesterday, the Tory papers led with Johnson’s callous use of the London Bridge attacks for political gain, while ignoring the problems arising from his government’s cuts. Today the use Jack Merrit’s dad’s pleas without mentioning his direct and angry criticism of Johnson and instead turn it into flag waving patriotism.

The thing is that these stories, this contempt for accurate reporting, isn’t written by bots. It’s written by the journalists working there. They accept the job and they write what is published, yet they are rarely criticised by their own. The criticism is always about the entity, the newspaper. The Times, The Mail, The Telegraph. It sometimes creeps onto those who write opinion pieces, but its never those who actually sit down and twist events into a malicious narrative. The Mail doesn’t write these things, human beings do and they do so in full knowledge and consciousness of what they are doing.

They never get called out. Their peers never call them out. Their unions never call them out. Because they all drink together and socialise together. Journalists are one club and it doesn’t matter to most of them who they write for or what they write as long as its a paying gig. Like when politicians fail to criticise or punish other politicians for cheating on expenses, it’s a There But for The Grace of God Go I. I’m not going to call them out, because I pad mine out too. I may be writing for a paper on the side of good (if there is one) at the moment, but who knows, next month I might get a Senior Editor role at the Mail. Keep quiet, pretend that some malevolent entity in a basement generates this hatred and criticise the Masthead.

No truer example than today. Not just with those front pages, but with Hillsborough back in the news. Don’t fall for the hang-wringing from those saying they’re sympathetic to the families. Those families fought for justice, not just from the British State, but from Newspapers. The Sun ran the lies, the lies were proven, few journalists stood up to openly criticise. Most continued to push the “no smoke without fire” line. A handful kept digging into the story and kept exposing the lies, corruption and negligence. The rest were too worried they might need a job one day at The Sun. It wasn’t until the enquiry laid out in full the extent of the lies that the brave 4th estate suddenly found the courage to talk about it.

Prince Andrew: Journalists knew. They’ve always known. They knew about Saville. The chatted openly to themselves about it for decades. But they ignored it, because they had a better life mixing in the celeb circles and having the Met feed them titbits about minor celebs. They never mention themselves in the cover up conspiracies, even though they were part of it.

Here we go again. Should the right job come up, those writing the spin to suit Johnson will gladly take a higher paid job to start criticising him. It’s a game to them, not journalism. It’s getting kudos and a drink bought for you because you polished a turd, you’ll meet up with your mates who work at the Guardian and you’ll laugh about it. But for now, forget what you read yesterday, forget that what Jack Merritt’s dad actually said is a direct and open criticism of what we wrote yesterday, forget all that and wave your flags as we celebrate that famous British spirit and we’ll all pretend to shed a tear.

Journalists are being fired for telling the truth and promoted for spinning lies and propaganda

Journalists ask Boris Johnson why the the London Bridge attack was able to happen then criticise him for politicising the London Bridge attack ?
    How very Guardianesque.
Very much like their politicising of the Grenfell Tower disaster as a Tory mistake when the errors that led to it were caused by successive governments of all three main parties.
London Bridge was a terrorist attack in the middle of a general election.Of course it’s going to be politicised.

    Lest we forget:

    You cannot hope
    to bribe or twist,
    thank God! the
    British journalist.
    But, seeing what
    the man will do
    unbribed, there’s
    no occasion to.

    (Humbert Wolfe, 1885-1940)

    9.23am
    Dec 3rd.
Heard the first radio play of Fairy Tale of New York of the season.
Only another 543 hearings to go this year.
    What a dreary song.
Dirty Night in Soho is far superior if only for the fact that it’s not heard as often.
