Nope but to make a joke based on race with someone who was racially abused publically is at best insensitive and at worst a dog whistle to a significant section of Italian football fans.

I can see you’re confused and asking the wrong questions. There’s an obvious problem with racism in Italian football (maybe it reflects Italian society too, I don’t know). The same footballer(s) endure “monkey chants” from the spectator stands at matches in the Italian league. In that context, the “Black Friday” headline is feeding into already existing discriminatory attitudes. Why is it worthy of a headline to draw distinctions between the colour of sportspeople’s skin? For those with racist tendencies who read it, it’s easily seen as a subtle (or not so subtle?) reaffirmation that “they are not one of us”.
