I actually said to Lady Bertie this evening, “this might be the last we see of Anton on Strictly”…

Yes, the winter evenings fly by in our house.

it’s one of the few shows that’s family friendly, I can actually watch it when visiting the oldies with them without any of us squirming in embarrassment

Agree. It’s not something I’d ever plan to sit down and watch, but it’s harmless entertainment. Found myself watching with nana and the wee one last night and enjoyed it. Little lady enjoyed the “swooshy dresses”, in particular.

Trocaire is surprisingly vocal when it comes to social justice in the developing world. It is, after all, their name.

Know what I know about them, they push their Bishops waaaay outside their comfort zones.

Speaking as an atheist, for a faith based charity, they’re a decent lot.

looks like it’ll be irish woman rebecca long-bailey to take over from corbyn

Brendan O’Connor standing in on Marian F show as I type, yesterday he interviewed Leo, and at best, I would say he asked some ‘awkward’ questions of him, specifically about Dara Murphy and the the lack of hospital beds especially in childrens wards.
Leo was audibly irked when gently pressed for answers by O’Connor.
This morning, O’Connor is completely rolling back on his questioning of An Taosieach with his panel of guests, almost apologising for the interview…he actually advised the panel to concentrate on the subject of the questions and not the Taoiseachs actual answers to them !
Methinks Brendan, his producers and D4orbes had a stern talking to after yesterdays broadcast.

If this is the Irish Public Broadcasters best effort…..why even bother.
    Pathetic stuff !?

A radio/TV station has to look to the future. If they press any great too hard then that guest will never come on the show/station again. And while you can afford to ‘burn’ some guests, especially those that you’ll never expect to see again, you need to be careful with those you want again.

If you piss off the taosaich you may never get any taosaich to appear on your show/channel ever again.

I switched off as soon as Leo came on yesterday, he’d be no great loss. This is why Tubridy’s handlers love him, he never strays far from the plámás.

        Translation into reality:

“A radio/TV station has to look to the future handouts of the public’s money from politicians who expect an easy ride from the media and to be re-elected for doing SFA.”

        1. Cian

Not what I said. A private station would have the same concerns about getting a guest back.

Granted RTE are also concerned about the TV licence too.

and yet, none of this is anything like as bad as when Rambo Mc Brown Envelope was in charge in Communications. Now there was a buck (and a party) who saw RTE as their spin dept.

I take it Corbyn isn’t sharing the cake then, and eating the lot… his share an’ all like.

I’d love to know what kind of viewer stats the Indo provides its online advertisers. For example, Paul McGrath is writing about the FAI today. I clicked on the story and got to read a paragraph before being asked to login to continue reading. Not on your nelly. But how does that compute? Am I regarded as a unique visit, albeit for a few seconds? If so, it’s not a Maximum Media-level scam but it’s not exactly kosher either.

They have ads on the home page and ads when I click on the link, but they’re so slow to load, thankfully I’m gone before I see anything.
