‘sup?
This morning.
Abbey Street, Dublin 1.
Bookie Paddy Power, jockey Ruby Walsh and keen-eyed punter Tom Nugent launch of Paddy Power Media’s weekly podcast ‘From The Horse’s Mouth’, which debuts on all platforms from December 19.
Rachael Kane writes:
Every week, record-breaking jockey Ruby Walsh will join Paddy Power, the face of well-known bookmaking firm Paddy Power. Horse racing aficionado Tom Nugent will also muck in with some informative, highbrow and thought-provoking content… ah who are we kidding?
Prepare for banter-filled, controversy-fuelled debate and a distinct possibility of some stand-up rows.
‘From The Horse’s Mouth’ will feature some of the biggest names in the game each week, kicking off with BBC Racing legend Cornelius Lysaght for the debut show…

Looks like great ‘banter’ – bookmakers are a cancer on society; they should have similar restrictions as cigarette-makers in their advertising.
Can’t +1 enough.
Why? That’s very anti fascist of you
*yawn*
+1 Walsh is no better than a bookies. Lowlifes.
Hear hear. Also, anything describing itself as ‘banter filled’ is an immediate turn off. Only to be outdone by the abbreviated ‘bants’…shudder
There is no “banter” in horse racing. Probably the uncoolest people in sport. Racing would not exist without gambling.
@ Rob_G We will look back at bookie ads and alcohol ads in a generation in a similar way to tobacco ads from yesteryear.
Couldn’t agree more.
This is Abbey Street, no? Confusion understandable though as Baggott St branch tends to be where they do most of their zAnY stuff
Thanks, class wario, fixed now. Sorry.
Soooo, this is obviously an ad? Broadsheet used to be better than this
did it?
Bookies are the same class as pimps and drug dealers. They peddle nothing but misery, preying on the vulnerable and desperate.

Read Tony10. it’s amazing stuff and unbelievable how irresponsibly PP behaved. Tony was addicted to gambling and worked in local post office. He was very obviously robbing huge sums of cash to gamble in PP and they chose to keep taking it. When Tony took some time out from gambling he got a call from paddy himself offering VIP treatment
Irish society is too tolerant when it comes to bookies
What a great read. Isn’t there a documentary to go with it that’s meant to be worth the watch too?
I didn’t enjoy it because I found it really hard to sympathise with him.
He had about 50 chances to get himself out of jail and blew them all –
he just struck me as a bit of a selfish fecker.
with a serious addiction problem. Lots of people live like this – maybe not to same level of excess and keep it concealed. gambling is a huge issue in Ireland but he know, banter with paddy
Yeah, I know about addiction and I know about concealment –
if you’ve read the book did you not feel that he had a horrendous self destructive streak?
Yeah, I was shouting at him while reading it. He had so many opportunities to clear debts and get life back on track and it was infuriating when he didn’t but I never thought of it as selfish. It showed me the power of addiction. It’s brilliantly written
the loan from his mother was the low point
Anything I read about gambling addicts invariably turns me off, or when I meet them in person – revolting people
Nonetheless I don’t blame the gambling industry – it’s part of who we are as a people
I bet ye they don’t care about the negative comments
I didn’t know Paddy Power was real, I thought he was just like Mr Tayto
Is that Craaaaaaaig Daaaaaaaavid in Photo 1?
So it is.
