“Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh go maith. We have just today put a video live featuring a night spent with the absolutely amazing CladdaghWatch volunteers.
“We thought you [and your readers] might be interested in seeing it and feel free to share on your own social media if you wish. Bíodh Nollaig iontach agaibh ar fád.”

Go raibh maith agat a Mhicháeil, bhí an scannan aontach dearfach. It’s great to have a caring spirit – and all volunteers. Galway is full of young types, The University contributes to that population, and the Big Yellow Thing, and Martin Sheen.
Fan amach ó na droichid.
Well done to all involved. Sinead has the voice of an angel.
Doesn’t she? An guth beárla?
I’d say she could give you a few bars of Oiche chiuin if you asked her nicely.
I ndáiríre? Sineád is the name of my kid sister, please don’t go weird on it. A great thing, I love Gaillimh.
Galway is a fantastic place. 14 years ago, or so, we holidayed there, and my son (then 6) liked it so much that his goal was to build a ‘Galway Centre’. The idea he had I don’t know, but probably somewhere for touristic people to go – or maybe make a commercial killing.
Having said that, I spent three terms in the Gaeltacht there. Twice in Spiddal, and once in a place called Carna (that one was a three month stint in a real school) Stayed with a local Mother and Son, no electricity (tilley lamp) but a fantastic collection of Irish music (New York Irish mind you – think they were called the McNulty family) ) played on a gramophone and a very happy time there. Walked everywhere. Once a week a truck would come around selling groceries (and sweets). The closest shop was two miles away, and the size of 6 telephone booths, and I only got there on a Sunday. 10/- send from home every 4 weeks or so.
(and the english placenames blacked out on the signposts)
This is an amazing initiative. Well done to all involved.
