Behold: the Vision S Sedan – the first car from Sony. The Sony DriveMan, if you will.
Due to debut this week at CES2020 in Las Vegas, the all electric vehicle has (as you’d expect from the electronics giant) all manner of integrated tech including radar, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors and a slew of entertainment systems.
Price as yet unannounced.

So many screens in this car…
Reminds me of the 4×4 in front of me in traffic yesterday. The owner had installed a flatscreen TV strapped onto the rear-view mirror. Couldn’t believe my eyes. Couldn’t take my eyes off it either, which I expect is a problem for that driver also – and perhaps for owners of the Sony DriveMan who, so distracted, may inadvertently drive into men.
Are you sure it wasn’t a monitor for a rear-view camera?
“Sony DriveMan.” Oh Chompsky!
They could give it the full retro vibe:
Put the wheels closer together so they look like cassette spools in motion.
Design the charging point to look like a big headphone jack.
Use Play, FF and Rewind motifs for the drive selection options.
No tape deck?
tapes have been obsolete for years
but they still work!
The one feature of this vehicle that interests me most is the hidden or not visible LIDAR.
FWIW, this is a concept to show off Sony’s tech prowess. It’s highly unlikely to hit the streets for purchase.
