Fontaines D.C. Liberty Belle

What a year it was for Dublin’s most feted rock band.

And 2020 looks bright too. Having just seen debut album Dogrel nominated for the Choice Prize, Grian Chatten (third left at top) and the boys have dropped a new video shot partly at last year’s sold out Vicar Street shows.

And they headline Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens on July 4.

Nick says: Ring in the new.

why do they hide their non-dublin backgrounds? theyre not from dublin, yet they portray themselves to be. the D.C. part of the name is “Dublin City” , and they are heralded as a Dublin band.

many non-dublin “people” in this country try to conceal their non-dublin backgrounds

and, for the most part, you’d be none the wiser unless you observe them eating lunch or on the dancefloor

Well I think they come from a few counties including Dublin but the band was formed here which is why they’re referred to as a Dublin band. Would you prefer if people list all the counties the band members originate from when mentioning the band?
I seem to remember that system used to make conversations very long anytime the New York City Philharmonic came up in conversation..

What makes you think they ‘hide’ anything?
If you ever saw them interviewed you’d know why they sing about Dublin and where they first came together in Dublin from other counties… all mentioned in two interviews I’ve watched.

      Nothing hidden at all.

it wasn’t that long ago, bertie, that you described them as “thin lizzy for the cool generation”

Was that the same day that I said “Larry Murphy is Ireland’s Warren Beatty”?
