This afternoon.
South Wall, Dublin 4.
Poolbeg lighthouse hit by high waves from storm Brendan.
The head of forecasting at Met Éireann has said there will be “several hours of very dangerous weather” as Storm Brendan tracks across the country, as gusts of up to 135km/h have been recorded in the west.
Almost 50,000 homes and businesses have been left without power and there are reports that numerous trees have fallen across counties Cork, Kerry and Donegal.

Don’t get why that moron drove out there. Car access to the wall should be stopped.
my spicy chicken wrap got a bit soggy in my jacket pocket.
will this madness ever end?
+1 on the headline, in fairness!

yet the gubmint are to ban the sale of petroleum and diesel cars in less than 10 years.
great idea, jackasses!
Do ya not realise that the electric cars have batteries? And the batteries don’t empty if the power lines fail?
how do you recharge a battery?
also, how will your heat pump in your new build work after ye ban oil/gas boilers when the power is out?
This won’t affect people living in Stoneybatter, as we all go around on micro-scooters, so we don’t care.
(no gas boiler I have ever encountered come across works without electricity, btw, so not sure how well that supports your argument).
I’m going to use you and that scooter as smokeless fuel if you are not careful.
