Theophilus Ndlovu, aka ‘Touché’, came to Ireland seeking asylum in July 2016 and has spent the last 3.5 years living in Direct Provision in Galway.
As a talented spoken-word and hip-hop artist, Theo has made enormous contributions to the Irish community, performing at countless cultural and charitable events across the country.
Theo is facing imminent deportation and we’re appealing to Broadsheet readers to sign the Uplift petition below requesting [Minister for Justice] Charlie Flanagan to revoke this order.

this is going to get ugly
It doesnt have to be ugly. His recent contributions do not matter when it comes to immigration law. Either get a visa or be a genuine asylum case.
Why is being a spoken-word/hip-hop artist deemed worthy of overriding immigration laws?
because “…living in Direct Provision in Galway“, is why
G-G-G Galway
I shouldn’t but I did.
(well played sir)
He is either being persecuted, in which case he should get asylum, or he is not, in which case he should be deported. The rest is irrelevant.
Why is he facing deportation? Short on the background to his predicament.
Doesn’t say what country he came from in the article or on the uplift page. Does anyone know? (note: not “getting ugly” just curious)
Many of those seeking asylum have the potential to contribute enormously to the Irish community. Many can sing and dance. Is this the new criteria?
Probably not. I guess we’ll find out. One way or the other he aint going nowhere. Too many UI’s and law firms taking up this hobby horse for law graduate trainees to sink their teeth into, win or lose, and let him continue to stay here on endless appeals. It’s too public now to have the guy dragged through the airport on social media. Well played.
The endless legal gravy train funded at the taxpayers expense.
Please suggest an improved system.
Failed asylum seekers get immediate deportation.
No. Too busy whining
I suggest the following. If you don’t like the result of your application for asylum status you get one appeal funded by the taxpayer. After that you pay for the lawyers holiday home in Tuscany by your self. That should speed things up
Those of us old enough to have read (and perhaps sadly, internalised) the William books of Richmal Crompton remember GARN as an expression of derision. As is Garn! Go on. Used by rougher boys.
Him Hitler and the Nasties still cracks me up.
Oh my, that takes me back
you are asking me to demand a politician to interfere with the law and its execution?
try again fool.
Bye bye Theo.
I suggest an X factor style immigration policy. Make them sing and dance in front of a distinguished panel of judges, open to suggestions as to whom. Televise this and it’s a winner for RTE.
We are almost there Nick!
Why doesTheo feel he needed to flee his country? What will happen him if he returns? Why didn’t Theo apply for asylum in the first EU country he entered, as he is supposed to?
