This is Mr Heron, spotted on my walk this morning with my dogs.

On what is supposed to be some bullpoo ‘blue Monday’ get out there if you can and go see some beautiful nature.

Breathe in the Spring that’s on its way and enjoy.

How can anyone be blue when there’s not a cloud in the sky on this wonderfully crisp winter’s day.
And a week on Friday dear old Blighty will break free from the EU shackles and head for those sunlit uplands of freedom and prosperity.
What a great year 2019 is turning out to be.
    Marvellous.

        Jeez, so it is.
I know I was sat on a beach drinking margaritas for most of the summer of 2019 but I didn’t think I’d missed that much !

There’s a few that sit on the roofs of houses near me. They’re like pterodactyls when they fly over.

Mr Heron eh; must be catching because I heard Met-Eireann refer to Mr Fog on hilly areas this morning?

Try travelling on London Underground or walking along the Cliffs of Moher today and you’ll discover just how real blue Monday is for those suffering from depression related mental illness.

Yes, getting out in the fresh air really does help, I recommend it to my clients all the time, but it is not a cure.

Blue Monday is a marketing device, invented by travel agents; not to detract from anyone’s suffering, but it created from whole-cloth in 2005 to increase sales of sun holidays, there is no scientific evidence to suggest that anyone’s mental illness is worse on this day than any other.

My apologies, I have this day last year seared into my mind when it was virtually impossible to get home from work due to the number of people under trains and the fact that a personal friend chose this day a number of years ago to throw herself off a cliff – confirmation bias!
That said, January and Mondays do share higher rates than other days/months (https://www.nationalelfservice.net/mental-health/suicide/mondays-and-new-years-day-associated-with-peaks-in-suicide-incidence/) so there may be something in Dr. Arnall’s theory, even if it was used as a marketing gimmick.

I sent you a response but it was deleted… maybe it was because it contained a link. Anyway you are right, but there is research that shows that January and Mondays are the most common days/months for suicide too.

I must admit I never get the blues.
But a bracing walk ending in a nice country pub with a roaring log fire and a few pints always perk me up no end.
January can be tough for some though with the credit card bills from Christmas coming in.The only thing in its favour is there’s a bit of a stretch in the evenings at last …

Your opening line would be unlikely to work in a song.

Especially one sung by someone with “Muddy” “Blind” or “Rambling” in their name.

Why is there a hippo on a raft floating down the river?? Doesnt he know he’ll only scare the fishes?
