I can understand not wanting to cause uneccessary panic, but for the HSE to come out and say that we will most likely not have any cases of Corona Virus is just not true, and quite a reckless statement to make. It’s good for people to be alert to this, similar to the SARS outbreak.

Lets be realistic here. There’s currently about 12.7 million Chinese tourists come to Europe every year. 100,000 Chinese tourists visited Ireland last year alone. According to INIS data, China is the top country of origin for full-time students from non-EEA areas who entered higher education in Ireland between. At the end of 2018, there 3,500 Chinese students in Ireland. I expect that’s increased significantly in 2020 considering the active recruitment of colleges chasing high fee paying international students to plug funding gaps in their institutions. All of these students travel regularly back and forth between Ireland and China.

According to the WHO the incubation period for this virus can be up to 5 days and more in cases. There is not enough data at the moment, and the number of cases is most likely understated at the beiginning. People will not appear to have any symptoms during the incubation period and are moving in their thousands unrestricted through airports all around Europe. Many of them bound for Ireland especially as they start to return to colleges from new year celebrations and holidays.

our biggest growing tourism market 28 to 35 percent, estimate of tourists this year 135,000, lots coming through new direct Edinburgh flights, bumped by Brexit and Trump, Ireland is less hassle and less offensive, plus everyone wants to go get a picture in the farm in cork the president visited to honour him and up their own status ” face “.

The photo of Mulherin – did the Mail leave out the letters ‘or’ by mistake in the description underneath it?

She’ll get no Croke Park free tickets next time round either.

Or that they’re leading by example

Taking their own medicine and not treating themselves differently under the rules they are engaged to enforce
        Or something like that

Hey Cian, on a scale of 1-10. 1 being pretending to not be in a rage, up to 10 being absolutely engulfed with rage. Where were you on that scale when you read the IPSOS opinion poll showing massive increases for Sinn Fein?

          1. V

            I’m like that too

            Fierce squeamish altogether
mind you usually around open wounds, blood bones that sorta stuff

    squabble rocks FG

Were the Mail really that stuck for a headline

    Over posters?

I’d actually be impressed if there wasn’t a weekly squabble between the old reliable parties/I> own Candidates protecting their turf

Feic ‘sake the Pheonix have made a business of them

It’s an Irish Politics fact of life that party Candidates put more effort into canvassing and delivering for their own party delegates that they do the rest of us.

    Try harder lads

It doesn’t look like they need to try any harder the way the Mail has triggered you …

      1. V

        So that’s what it means

        triggered

And there was me thinking it was related to a Fianna Fail connection

Well, everyday is a school day

        Ta for that Carage

We’re back baby.Back where we belong.

” The economy has undergone a “decisive change of direction” after the biggest one-month surge in activity in more than three years.

The purchasing managers’ index, a closely watched survey, swung back into growth territory for the first time in five months in January, adding to evidence of a “Boris bounce” since his election triumph in December.

Traders reined in expectations of an interest rate cut at the Bank of England next week after the survey jumped to a 16-month high.

The PMI rose to 52.4 in January in an unexpectedly strong recovery from 49.3 the previous month, according to IHS Markit. Any score above 50 signals growth. ”

TG4 MRBI poll for Donegal shows Sinn Féin set to take 2 of the 5 seats.

    Pearse Doherty (SF) – 27%
    Joe McHugh (FG) – 17%
    Charlie McConalogue (FF) – 12%
    Padraig MacLochlainn (SF) – 12%
Pat “The Cope” Gallagher (FF) – 10%
    Thomas Pringle (IND) – 6%
    Michael White (GP) – 4%
Paddy “people’s real concerns” Casey (IND) – 2%

      1. ReproBertie

        It certainly should!

I also missed the Aontú candidate Mary Sweeney who polled at 3%, higher than Casey as did FG’s second candidate Martin Harley (3%) .

You found a post where I said Sasamach wouldn’t happen yet Spoofer?

“The number of Albanian and Georgian nationals claiming asylum in the Republic plummeted close to a standstill late last year, new figures show…Immigration checks at passport control in Dublin Airport were moved back to the steps of arriving aircraft and those with fake documents were refused entry.
Last September, some 191 Albanians applied for asylum, the highest ever monthly total after applications from them had been rising for six years. But when immigration checks were severely tightened at Dublin Airport, the number of Albanians applying for international protection in October more than halved to 90. And there were only seven applications in November; a 96 per cent drop in two months.
Similarly, the number of applications from Georgians reached a record high of 117 last September. That reduced by half, to 58 applications, in October and fell to just 17 applications in November.”

Mad how we were able to tackle this abuse of the asylum process and control immigration while remaining part of the EU. Some would have you believe that not only do we have uncontrolled immigration but we’re a total soft touch for bogus asylum seekers.

    1. Charger Salmons

And here’s me thinking there were other ways of entering Ireland besides Dublin Airport …

      1. ReproBertie

Hell of a leap there to think that just because Dublin airport is mentioned in the report these checks are not being carried out anywhere else.

Then again, if you’re going to spread fear in the face of facts you have to make crazy logical leaps.

England just passed 186-4 playing South Africa in Joburg.
It makes them the first team to score half a million runs in Test cricket.
I know you’re interested in all sorts of cricketing facts and stats.
    I try my best.
    Marvellous.
