You’re the person who made the most horrible decisions – people are on reduced pensions tonight because of you.@joanburton facing some home truths on the pensions cuts.#TonightVMT #GE2020 #VoteThemOut pic.twitter.com/DNa6DHDSvw

Last night.
On Virgin Media One’s The Tonight Show.
Kerry Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae told Dublin Labour TD Joan Burton that it was “very hard” to listen to her before repeatedly calling her “horrible”.
He said “horrible” decisions she made in 2011 and 2012 directly impacted people who are now on reduced pensions.
Ms Burton told Mr Healy-Rae that he was being “horrible”.
Limerick Fianna Fáil TD Willie O’Dea then waded in telling Ms Burton:
“this is a dialogue, not a monologue by you”.
Watch back in full here
if you lie with dogs you get fleas, joan must understand what it means to support fg..
Bullying women is an olympic sport in Ireland.
She bullied the people while in government. She deserves everything she gets.
At least healy-rea did not go after her bald headed
Fupp that. She deserves every bit of criticism she gets.
she doesn’t really
She smilingly opened a foodbank for a photo op when she should have been utterly ashamed that under her watch as Minister for Social Welfare (or whatever buzzword they’re using), people living in poverty had their lives worsened.
did they just gather together some of the worst politicians in a room? Oh God, reality show.
labour put theyre hand up to clean the mother of all credit fuelled house parties. the bill? a 20bn euro deficit. they were never going to be able not cut cut and cut. they didn’t cut the dole though when people needed it.
some persictive please
…hello!…a labour apologist…long time…hopefully, last time…
no apologist ..just pointing out what a 20bn tax deficit means. CUTS TO SPENDING!
Agreed.
I don’t necessarily agree with he politics, but she does seem to be a person of integrity, and does seem to get an inordinate amount of stick for her voice (which is kind of grating, but infinitely less than Healy-Rae’s).
…wrong again…just another FG shill…thought a labour apologist coming out of the woodwork was a bit outlandish…
Have you ever had an intelligent, original thought in your head?
Anyone going into government in 2011 was going to have to make cuts, and raise taxes in order to keep the wolf from the door – it’s that simple.
Any politician who says that they wouldn’t have countenanced cutting x or y if they had been in power is being fundamentally dishonest.
…if labour had been able to resist the lure of power and pensions they would have forced the merger of FFG…unfortunately, they betrayed their followers…to my eternal disgust, I admit to being one of those…but never again…
If you’re in a room with a Healy-Rae and you’re the unlikeable one, it’s time to reconsider your life choices.
haha
Thanks Bert needed a good laugh this morning
Pointless babble from the leprechaun.
When you allow a Healy Rae to have the high moral ground, you’re really in deep trouble.
Healy Rae is a gombeen hypocrite though. It looks like he’s prepared to cut a deal to support Martin as Taoiseach in a FF-led Government, the price for which may well be a seat in cabinet. This, the very same Martin who, like the moustachioed musketeer, O’Dea sitting beside him, was central to the worst ever Irish Government. A ruinous Government that wreaked far greater devastation on the Irish people than Burton or Labour ever did.
Be very wide. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
Healy-Rae will be perfect in a FF cabinet. He’ll be an economic titan compared to the rest. He’ll fit right in.
I’ll give him this much, he knows something about economics – 2nd richest TD in the Dáil, owner of 10 rental properties. Of course, be came from a background of privilege (as opposed to Burton, whose Dad worked in the CIE workshop in Inchicore).
Why is he a gombeen hypocrite ?
Healey-Rae is an independent TD in the business of looking after himself and his Kerry constituents which, by all accounts, he does rather well.
It’s the fault of the system that allows independent TDs to wield more power than they should not the fault of the TD.
I take my cap of to the man …
You’re correct. The system encourages provincial gombeenism.
Haughey, Lawlor, Burke, Ahern and many more besides would confirm that it’s not merely a provincial concern.
‘We didn’t start the fire’.
For the very reason I stated.
But I do understand why you’d be a fan.
lads the Twitter links never work for me
Sorry Joe, what browser are you using?
You reply to this but not my email below:
“Bodger, I thought you were going to reference the connections of Mick Caul to the Soc Dems. I know you are in love with them, but particularly in an election campaign, your posters should be accredited to their affiliations.”
Dose this mean those who already had to wait like me till 66 get the year taken off us get it refunded?
