Jamelia Jamil didn’t “reveal” anything or “come out” biggest load of woke nonsense I’ve ever seen.

Queer but veers to boys.. in pub parlance : straight with the odd bit of girl action when there’s a rush on.. dear god.. what a world.. meanwhile, I see it’s not dissident republicans planting non-existing bombs but the IRA.. there’s a turn up for the books.

Hahahaha, that’s one of the funniest news articles I’ve read in ages, thanks for the laugh! Although, as slimy, sluggish invertebrates go, unless they make their way here at taxpayers’ expense in plush cars with a shed load of expenses, free food, beach holiday homes, affordable homes etc… I think we already have enough on Kildare St.

Actually, this story, if genuine, there’s no way they could afford to live here – FAKE NEWS!

Kenny managed to lose 26 seats, last election. Varadkar building on that and set to add another 15 (at least) to that figure. Oh me, oh my.

    1. Cian

Funny. Last week you were saying that Varadkar would do worse than Kenny did
      You’ve changed your tune.

      1. GiggidyGoo

You need to quote exactly what I said. (Not like your out of context quotation of 01101 yesterday). You will find that Varadkar will manage to lose enough seats to add substantially to the losses that Kenny had, thus breaking Kenny’s record for seats not returned.
But seeing as you haven’t much to say otherwise, no doubt you agree with me. My, oh my.

        1. Cian

“This is really the first election that the Big V will preside over for FG. Enda Kenny managed to lose quite a few seats last time round – Varadkar is set to out-do him in the losses stakes.”

          to which I replied
          “FG went from 76 (of 166 seats available) to 50 (of 158) a loss of 26;
This would be equivalent of a loss of 23 (of 160) this year.” [which would bring FG to 27 seats.]

you are now predicting the loss at 15. 15 is less than 23. So ” the Big V” won’t do worse than Kenny.

          1. GiggidyGoo

So you reckon that an increase in seats lost doesn’t outdo Kenny in the losses stakes – when it actually increases the number of lost seats? Noonanesque calculations. Good lad Varadkar building on the failures of Kenny.
            Try harder.

          2. Cian

So what are now suggesting is that if FG (miraculously) got 75 seats tomorrow that you would still say that “Varadkar out-did Kenny in the losses stakes.”?

Funny that you didn’t mention this on the original thread.

Here’s a useless piece of information with which to astound your mates in the pub tonight.
Coronavirus is a character who first appeared in the most recent Asterix book published in 2017, well before this deadly outbreak.
In ASTERIX AND THE CHARIOT RACE Coronavirus (real name Testus Terone) who drives for the Romans quits the race upon learning his co-driver cheated. He is replaced by Julius Caesar, who almost wins but is immobilized by a pot-hole.
In case you’re wondering Asterix and Obelix win the race using horses stolen from the Romans in return for four menhirs.
    As you were.

I see the Irish Hospital Consultants have a large ad on the front of the examiner. Simon Harris (where’s he hiding) and Varadkar (both of whom have paraded about as Health Ministers) won’t like that one bit. In fact, another ex Health Minister, Michilín Martin, won’t like it either.

    Hi Broadsheet ppl

I have a rake on today, won’t get many opportunities to participate, Lilly asked me last night about SD’s and in convo I said I’d put up here today my intentions for the vote so here it is, observations (please be grownup about it) are welcome!

    =================================
Area: Celbridge, Kildare – 4 seats

End Goal: to achieve an ABFFG result (anybody but Fianna Fail + Fine Gael coalition party)

Aim: in the Us vs Them Ireland we seem to have architected and have started to build I want to effect a halt and change of direction to a fairer place to live where my generation (with due respect to more advantaged ppl, I’ll travel with and support ye) have a shot at a decent existence here – we take care of our poor, we take care of our old, take care of each other and stop this corporate obsession! (simplified)

    Candidates + my intent:

    1. Catherine Murphy (Soc Dem)
    2. Réada Cronin (SF)
    3. Paul Mahon (S-PBP)
    4. Vincent P Martin (GP)

ok then it gets complicated, contributions welcome per my aim do I leave the rest BLANK or fill out to the bottom as follows? This is a 4 seat jurisdiction. I’m aware that my #3 might struggle for example. Would my choices there have a transfer possibility into FFG?

    5. Wayne Swords (Ind)
    6. David Monaghan (Ind)
    7. Emmet Stagg (Lab)
    8. Frank O’Rourke (FF)
    9. Anthony Lawlor (FG)
    10. James Lawless (FF)
    11. Bernard Durkan (FG)
    12. Séamus Ó Riain (Renua)

    =================================

    thanks

    1. Ben Madigan

Leave blank, or at least only go down as far as 6/7. If you give FF/FG any preferences, there is a possibility your vote will be transferred down to them and help them over the line.

      1. ReproBertie

I read an article that said you should vote all the way down the paper. I disagreed with it but the theory seems to be that if you only vote 1,2,3 and all three are eliminated then your vote vanishes and the quota is reduced for subsequent counts meaning people you don’t want elected have an increased chance of a seat.

I guess this only matters if your high up choices are eliminated. If they are elected then you can take it that your vote sits there.

        1. 01101101 01100011

          Hi Repro
yes this has been an ongoing discussion amongst ourselves during the day
I read one article where even 2 academic “experts” disagree
I think I’m sticking with my simple original strategy, 1-4 rest blank
but the night is young, lol

          thanks a mil
          have a good one tomorrow

          1. 01101101 01100011

yes very first time for me (although I did vote the 8th which started the ball rolling for me)

I’d like to be a lot more involved but I just don’t have the time unfortunately :( but maybe down the line, I think I’ll always vote though!

          2. scottser

            Good for you.
I vote for the half dozen or so that I can stomach giving a vote to and the rest can sod off. Put it this way if none of the candidates you voted for get in then the people who live in your area are dicks and you should move for the sake of your sanity.

    2. Cian

Catherine Murphy is likely to top the poll.
If she doesn’t get in on the first round, then you #1 will stay with her until she gets in. – your vote counted!! this is most likely outcome.

If she has a surplus in the first preferences, there is a small chance that your vote will be distributed.
It will go to Cronin and sit with her until she gets a seat your vote counted!! or she is eliminated, its unlikely that Mahon will outlast her, so it will go to Martin to get him over the line… but if he’s already eliminated then your vote is not counted.

So yeah, the odds are very low that your vote won’t be counted with those four.

        1. Cian

Jennifer Carroll MacNeill #1 (FG) & Barry Ward (FG)#2 (but not Mary Mitchel O Connor) then probably green..

Whatever happened to the apocalypse ?
A couple of weeks ago you couldn’t watch a news bulletin without seeing Australia engulfed by bushfires and climate change deniers being consigned to an equally fiery hell and damnation.
It’s all gone quiet so I checked.
    It’s raining apparently.Quite a lot.
    Who’d a thunk it.

    1. Nigel

Hilariously and non-apocalyptically, millions of wild animals died and the rain is causing heavy floods and washing ash and mud nto rivers, poisoning the waters and killing aquatic life, and bits are still burning, 42 in New South Wales to go with the new flash flood warnings, and Murdoch’s entire media empire is devoted to downplaying it and outright denial, so yeah, everything’s feckin hunky dory in the new climate-change hellscape, you massive bleeding ulcer.

      1. Charger Salmons

It’s a deliberate ploy by the Murdoch empire to play down perfectly natural bushfires mostly lit by arsonists which will be extinguished by another natural phenomenon called heavy rain ?
        That’s certainly a new one.
What next? The Ice Age was caused by a farting woolly mammoth ?
I guess there’s nothing that goes wrong in the world that your tiny mind can’t blame on the rich and powerful is there you virtue-signalling, tinfoil-hatted pecksniffian prodnose ?

        1. ReproBertie

” perfectly natural bushfires mostly lit by arsonists”
Hilariously ill informed nonsense from Spoofer as usual.

“Victoria police say there is no evidence any of the devastating bushfires in the state were caused by arson, contrary to the spread of global disinformation exaggerating arsonist arrests during the current crisis.”

          https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jan/08/police-contradict-claims-spread-online-exaggerating-arsons-role-in-australian-bushfires

          1. Charger Salmons

            A month-old article ?
Too lazy to do more research than pick the first article that comes up on Google ?
Stick to predicting that Brexit would never happen pal.
We’re still getting plenty of laughs from that…

          2. ReproBertie

Really? You want to go there again? You have a post where I claimed it didn’t happen?

Do you have any evidence of a surge in fires started by arsonist in the last month? Of course you don’t.

            All mouth and no trousers.

          3. Charger Salmons

            Give up O’Bertie-Begorrah.
            You’re only making it worse.
Why not just go to your normal barstool in the Bejaysus de Tans Tavern and have a good ol’ rant. You’ll feel better.

          4. Nigel

A whole month old? Charger can suck up to and then turn on and then suck back up to any given right wing politician you care to mention in one month, losers!

          5. ReproBertie

Yeah, still don’t see anything backing up any of your usual guff and nonsense.

Sure it’s easier to spout any auld ráiméis and then attack people when they call you on it rather than actually stick to the facts, right?

        2. Nigel

I guess there’s no rich person you can’t suck up to. They’ll need human slaves in their luxury survival bunkers, I suppose, you might be in with a chance!

          1. Charger Salmons

            Don’t tell me you’re a survivalist too ?
How many tins of lentils and Lidl value toilet rolls are stored in your shed ?

          2. Nigel

Is abject toadying a survival skill for you? Do you stand in front of the mirror and practucec saying ‘The ayatollah of rock n rolla!’

    1. dav

well, based on the hate that Jamelia Jamil has generated by her announcement (see 1st comments) I don’t expect sympathy from some on here. I on the other hand have found him to be very professional in anything that I have watched him in and am saddened that after the news international hacking scandal, the media are still allowed to dictate peoples lives.

        1. Charger Salmons

In what way is the media dictating his life ?
He chose to use his TV show to announce he was a friend of Dorothy.

    2. GiggidyGoo

Fek Philip Schofield. You can’t turn on the telly these days without him stroking a cat, or with his legs at right angles to each other, or hosting all sorts of ‘chewing-gum for the brain’ shows.
A used car salesman as well.
I shout at the TV every time his mug appears.
