Re, 75% of voters voted to keep Sinn Fein out of office in the Examiner splash. Second par, no less.
No they never.
It’s a ridiculous claim to make.
No wonder most people don’t buy newspapers anymore.

By that logic, 75% voted to keep both FF and FG out of office too.

Certainly, very few buy de paper. It’s circulation was 25,419 as of December 2018.
Yep. And its the landlords party maties who are in fear mode. The builders mentioned are involved in building apartments, and the others involved in renting them out at salary-level rents.

Hi Pat,
I know very little about shares but here’s a list of useful stocks to keep an eye on at the end of your day, all principals involved in this Housing affair with investors in at all sorts of levels I’d imagine (because like always happens when a river of gravy exists for long enough even the average Malahide and Dalkey residents tell their broker to look for a slurp). so large investors investing in themselves helping make the Bisto and the shoeshine boys too all aided and abetted by the Politics.
That’s not for me to care about and don’t you worry about those shoeshine boys, they’ll probably just have to hold off buying their next Volvo XC90 for a year or two. They won’t have to live in a tent on the Bull Island

Monday there was a dumpfest – I imagine that those in the know with the direct lines into the establishment politics got the picture. Yesterday a bit more and some stabilization, I’d say there was some major sales work going on there, no don’t sell for gods sake don’t…
My reason for interest is this one is it’s a very good instrument, not of the scenario itself as such, more it illuminates the various stage actors very nicely so we can monitor them so easily. Oh to be able to see further inside…to see exactly which people are involved would be a data paradise for me but I’m sure smarter stocks and shares commentators would probably be able to work that out!
Decisive action on rents with a freeze sounds a good idea to me.
I’ve consistently hiked my rents up year after year and now they’re at a level where I don’t honestly think my hardworking tenants can pay any more.
I’ve squeezed them until the pips nearly popped out.
Lord knows how those people in Dumpland are managing to pay what they do.
No wonder the Shinners have hit upon a rich vein of discontent.

Shares falling Oh Dear Me. Does anyone remember 25% inflation in this little island? Does anyone remember a big party crashing the economy? No I didnt think so. So you know why the FFFG journos all over our media are having panic attacks.
The Irish Times still in reverse cheerleading mode for Sinn Fein. So far the most sensible commentary on the SF success (or is it now just the Mary Lou brand) has been written in the Irish Times by Anne Harris and Una Mullally.
Roisin, Jennifer, Conor, etc., still fuming.
The Old Boy
It’s hardly surprising. It took twenty years for the editorial line to accept the legitimacy of independence, and another twenty for it to think that it wasn’t a complete travesty.
Talk of lock it or lose it !! An Garda recovered 250,000 stolen bicycles in a shipping container late last year in Dublin. If each bike was valued at 3000K that’s a total of 83,333 stolen bikes …..yikes! There is a multi million Lithuanian crime gang operating in Ireland so thieving seems to be a full time job for these scoundrels!
I thought so too so I double checked it! “The gang is linked to a 250K bicycle seizure made by Garda in Dublin at the end of last year” is what’s in print.
Rob_G
‘250k’ refers to the euro value of the bicycle; there were 116 bicycles seized.

Interesting read here all the same: https://www.irishtimes.com/business/economy/ibec-says-sinn-fein-not-mad-when-it-comes-to-the-economy-1.4168977
Reads more like a “don’t go too mad now…” rather than an endorsement but still
I invest in Kerry Group. Went from €16 odd per share 8 years ago to €115 today.
Invest in food companies like Kerry and Glanbia is the way to do it.

I’ve been wondering how the Irish Times was going to spin the election result into an ant-British, two-fingered rant against Brexit.
But, of course, I’d forgotten all about the cliché machine dog whistler called Kathy Sheridan they wheel out when Fintan O’Toole is off refilling his bile duct.
Even by her lamentable standards this is a classic.
