Come a long way, in fairness.
This morning.
Leinster House, Dublin 2.
Freshly-elected Social Democrat TDs gather for a press and photo call.
More as we get it.

Update:
From left: Jennifer Whitmore (Wicklow), Cian O’Callaghan (Dublin Bay North), Catherine Murphy (Kildare North), Róisín Shortall (Dublin North West), Gary Gannon (Dublin Central) and Holly Cairns (Cork South West).
Have you noticed.
They look strangely human.
Weirdos.

good calibre in that party, in fairness
some of the daws elected for FF, FG and, also, SF is depressing
where IS ron, btw?
I really like the Soc Dems. I am so happy that they’re growing.
However, Gary is going have to grow the length of his trouser legs if I am to look as favorably on his candidature when we return to the polls in late Spring.
Looks like he has them tucked into his boots. Still…
I know… some of he elected, Michael Collins, Danny HR et. al.; it’s frightening that men of their calibre are elected to run the country.
What’s your issue with Micheal Collins…
They don’t run the country.
Their presence in the Dail owes much to the pitiful state of local government. This was all made worse by Big Phil and his reform of local government act, which saw an erosion in autonomy, function and resources. The raft of rural indys – all gene pool FFG – opted to play on the bigger pitch.
shame Anne Marie McNally didn’t run
yeah wonder why Anne Marie McNally didnt run.
i hate that roisin and catherine have to be in the middle of all the photos. they arent a pop group. i think beyonce had to be in the middle of all photos of destinys child by contract.
my deal with Broadsheet is that bodger has to +1 every tenth comment I make
strong hydra vibes from those posters, wasn’t a fan either
I think the result of the local elections winded her a bit…she took a step back after that.
Pity…she’d be a great TD.
She seems like a nice person, but her contributions, and particularly some of her exchanges in the comments, did not leave me convinced that she would be a good TD.
Agree. For their Communications Director, I felt she performed poorly and unprofessional.
+ 1
I hope they get some momentum behind them and that they have a positive impact on the current Irish “political landscape”. The old guard is changing, let’s hope the change is for the better.
I wonder why Dave Quinn didn’t do better.
Elected 2 non FFG out there, numbers just aren’t there to elect any more I’d imagine. SF polled well in same constituency too without getting anywhere near a seat.
As per yupyup, also he was added late after the initial candidate dropped out, also he has a VERY unfortunate name. (I gave him my 2nd preference.)
Haha, I wonder if he changed it from David to Dave for that reason.
Who was the initial candidate?
…oh no…looks like the dozy greens are about to get their noses back in the gravy resevoir…
The Green Party will back anyone and anything in exchange for carbon tax and a ban on turf-cutting.
To inversely cite a cretin Independent TD:
To hell with the people and the fellas that says we must save the people and forget about the planet.
ooopsy.
That should read “certain”
sorry Danny
Holly is going to get so.much media coverage because of her sound political ideology……or because she is pretty!
my current favourite politician
Fair play to them.
