Drat and bother.
I was going to tune the television into this Love Island soap opera tonight to see what all the fuss is about but I read it has been cancelled ” out of respect ” for Ms Flack.I’m sure the proles will be devestated.
I also read there have been two other suicides connected to the show.
The blurring of lines between fantasy and reality is getting more opaque thanks to social media. It’s one of the reasons I’ve never been on it.
Daisy Chainsaw
The tabloids are blaming her death on the CPS for bringing charges when the people responsible for her death are the ones writing the headlines and deleting their abuse as fast as their greasy, venal fingers will let them.
Have no adequate words on talented, pretty Caroline.
Condolences to her parents and siblings.
Brie
She was a serial abuser, sadly.

Remember this day when it is said that male abusers get treated lightly in the media…. this is way beyond that.
Unfortunately there are no reform facilities for female abusers, as those with the cash believe female abusers don’t exist, that they only retaliate due to patriarchy. Sadly, that is what happens when ideology trumps facts.
WomensAid and similar bodies need to stop following and implementing the regressive Duluth Model of Domestic Violence Intervention and start recognising the existence if female abusers and give them the help facilities they need.
RIP Ms Flack… no one should feel the need to end their life by suicide.

Meanwhile, here’s a tweet from a professional counsellor on the matter of the media treatment of Ms Flack and their domestic violence behaviour.
I’ll take their opinion over some randomers’ on the Internet.
Here’s another individual, PhD researcher on IPV (Intimate Partner Violence), and works in the area of domestic abuse on the dogma that ignores, and therefore fails, female DV perpetrators.
Myself… I have my own experience of living through the receiving end of domestic abuse and violence for the best part of a decade, and years of reading up on the topic, and I stand by what I said regardless of your interpretation.
I never have nor would wish an end to life on my abuser but would have loved if there was some where she could have gone to for help. And as long as attitudes like your own persist, there will not be any such facilities for violent women.
And lastly, thanks, for proving a point in your response. That is, not willing to look at the truth of female perpetrated DV.

What a whiny, moaning, self-absorbed little person
A woman dies by her own hand after being abused by the likes of yourself – a clueless little elf lurking around on the internet- And YOUR only thought is to pontificate about a woman’s death on your tiny little limp membered hobby horse.
Clampers Outside
Wrong.
Salmon Eile
Serial abuser?
In fact, her trial for allegedly assaulting one person had not taken place.
No allegedly in it. CPS had more than enough evidence to pursue charges – (I) Controlling behaviour of abuser evidenced in going through victims phone as they slept, and the irrational reaction to contents seen (ii) domestic violence evidenced in the use of a lamp as a weapon on the sleeping partner (iii) the scene described by the abused, and plea for help, in the emergency call (iv) the scene as evidenced by police on arrival.
But apparently some people don’t like these facts.
Same people wouldn’t dismiss the facts if it were a man who acted like this.
There in lies their hypocrisy, their double standards, and their own lack of self awareness of same.
Pathetic
Shut up Clampers . You self obsessed little P****

This is all prefaced by me being out of the loop on the whole assault thing other than an awareness that there was an accusation and it was under investigation….but… I think Clampers has a point (no matter how clumsily it was made). Again though, like with a lot of celeb stuff I’m open to correction on specifics.
Johnny Depp was accused of assault. It got a lot of attention and a lot of comments about Johnny Depp. I’m pretty sure it’s cost him work. But soon after the allegation, we found out it may not have happened. Then we got more evidence that not only did it not happen, but Johnny Depp was the one who was assaulted. More recently we have actual recordings of conversations where Amber Heard admits to assaulting him, is unrepentant in that and admits to lying.
What I’m reading into Clamper’s comment is consider that accusation and how the alleged victim was believed and the comments against the alleged abuser. How little call there was for waiting for the Justice system to run its course. How even when there were strong doubts about the accusation, the damage was done. How even when there was some concrete proof that he was the one who was abused, we don’t have a change in comments.
We can have mature conversations about the impact of the media and social media, but it has to be fair and consistent. We can have an open culture to allow abuse victims to come forward, but it has to be fair and consistent.
We can’t pick and chose. Johnny Depp was targeted and commented on through the media and social media. I don’t remember any retractions when it became apparent he was the victim.
So here’s the thing: Clampers has a point. Here’s the other thing, no one has moral authority in this. Everyone of those who now bemoan cancel culture, social media pile ons and media coverage of an accusation has probably contributed or failed to intervene in someone else’s downfall.
It’s a tragic story and a tragic end, but you can acknowledge a person’s faults and actions as well as mourn how it ended. It doesn’t have to be one or the other, but it does have to be consistent.
Clampers Outside
Spot on, and with a very good and reasonable finish.

Sorry V, missed your comments. I agree with your point. My comment on Moral Authority is more about the sudden awareness people have about social media pile ons and judgements. Many of those commenting about #bekind have all been very quick to judge and call for resignations of others (see Johnny Depp example). It’s their moral authority I question. It’s that it took for someone they like to face accusations and social media’s wrath before and ultimately their life before they saw the bigger picture of how public shaming impacts people.
I don’t disagree with the careful line and humanity of allowing respect for her death, but also openly discussing their demons. We had to find that line with Kobe and Kirk Douglas. We didn’t then, we haven’t here.
