This is appalling. Sulky racing in Dublin. Appears to be near City West by Brown’s Barn on the Naas Road inbound. pic.twitter.com/aHLYZyClU6

Ah! Its just a few bad eggs.
Poor horses.
But it’s their culture. What can you do?
*Official statement from the Garda.
Confiscate all those vehicles.
” vey-he-hiccles “
Vey-hickle.
Can you do nothing right?
Gardai are investigating
https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/garda%C3%AD-investigating-four-lane-motorway-sulky-race-1.4178928
They are asking that the individuals involved come forward. Overtime has been authorised. This could take weeks with scores of guards working in shifts. Weeks later: *Garda have concluded that indeed a sulky race did happen just as it appeared in the video. Thanks guys!!
Concerned housewife from Clondakin prepares to phone Joe Duffy.
Intern from the RTÉ canteen prepares to ring Joe.
Scripts are being prepared for the caller plants for the FM 104 phone show tonight. One fella pretending to be a traveller and another pretending to be an obnoxious racist. tune in!!!
Some of the newly elected TD’s arriving in Dublin to attend the first sitting of the 33rd Dáil, I’d say.
probably anti-semitic horses too
or something something
Bottomholes.
I wonder who would so such a thing.
Too Fast, Too Fury-ish
Have number plates.
Arrest and charge all owners.
Job done.
the drivers? with what? careless driving maybe – a fine which won’t be paid.
Better to start somewhere than ignore the issue.
I’m sure this would be viewed as more than just wreckers due to it being a clearly organised planned effort.
Again, start somewhere, like impounding.
Oops… ^reckless :/
DEPORT.
Because travellers drive around in registered and taxed cars! I’m sure the fuzz have them all in custody as we speak.
I rather admire their joie de vivre.
It’s what the Irish used to be like before this country became a Nanny State.
Lots of prim and proper pecksniffians on here today.
It wouldn’t take much for that joy of living to become the horror of death with this sort of thing.
I must say, Charger, your material is lacking it’s usual fresh zing lately. It’s all starting to feel a bit repetitive, which is a pity really.
Talking of repetetive that’s twice this week you’ve made the same point.
Can you not find another bottom to sniff ?
And you still make the same tired jokes. If you want to troll effectively – and you really can do it well when you’re on form, must be said – then make sure you’re keeping the material fresh. And the punctuation in good order, of course ;)
Why do I always trigger the barmpots ?
Also, repetitive.
Just sayin’
the cool kids use *repetetetive* to mean, like, really, really repetitive
I assume that’s what charger is aiming for
Jaysus, isn’t a fellow allowed the occasional typo Mr No Capital Letters Or Punctuation Because It’s Stylish ?
They blocked a section of road so to avoid any accidents with civilian cars. It makes a change to the usual sulky races where the cart is weaving through normal people traffic. You’ve got to give them that! Mind you, it was probably a wager made between two rival family’s during an all night drinking bender and the people in those cars were still pissed out of their tree and laughing their arses off all the way.
It’s called a rolling road block, sometimes used by police to get traffic moving after a motorway has been blocked.
Shows the ingenuity and resourcefulness which the Travelling community is known for particularly as the chances of meeting a police car on any Irish motorway is somewhere not far above zero.
And no danger to pedestrians either which is also considerate.
Have people in Ireland become so downtrodden and put-upon that they get upset about a bit of harmless fun ?
Where’s your free spirit lads or has Brussels knocked the stuffing out of you ?
Charger, you need better role models in life, just like the lads in the video I blame the parents
I see The Journal has closed the comment section on the story on their website…
The penalties in Ireland for animal abuse and cruelty are so outdated and really don’t take these issues seriously.
Not allowed to state the obvious anymore, must be white privilege ;)
This is what happens when you have a hands-off approach to certain ‘communities’ driven by fear of being accused of discrimination/victimisation. It’s Ireland’s Rotherham and this supine attitude is led by spineless politicians, who have a pathological fear of actually leading.
In this case its animals being abused but there are children within this community who are being let down as well as the wider community who are suffering the consequences of this lawlessness every single day.
This is a failure of governance.
That’s very very good, Andrew. Have you considered submitting your prose for consideration by the editor of the Daily Mail? I’d say your work is exactly the type of material they seek.
Yes, better it’s just not reported or commented on and ignored then Redbeard. Sure what do you care? If it doesn’t effect you.
Andrew, did you not see the video or did you get a set of radical leftie blinkers for xmas?
Sorry Andrew, reply meant for Redbeard
Probably gonna get downvoted for this. Yes, this seems to be cruel on the horses. But wheres your outcry for grand nationals, Aintree, Dubai Gold Cups, and so on….https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2012/mar/31/dubai-world-cup-deaths-gold-cup
Aintree etc have horses running on grass or sand specially prepared for horses to run on – Here the horses are running on tarmacadam, with cars and vans all around them, people shouting, vehicles beeping and a fella whipping the life out of them, not exactly comparable
I’m not mad on horse-racing, but they have vets on hand to humanely-destroy any animal that does get badly-injured. Travellers’ horses are left malnourished and ran into the ground, and then tied up and abandoned once their owners are finished with them.
Just traveIIers’ horses yeah?
traveller-bashing, the last bastion of ‘acceptable’ racism for irelands middle class
You might want to think about your inability to recognise their outrageous animal cruelty, and how you ended up that way that it’s ok with you to overlook that aspect. Talk to a doctor.
What about Aintree?
What about the entire meat and animal produce industry?
class warrior indeed! Middle class warrior with luxury opinions
But this article isn’t about Aintree, both are cruel and should be condemned by anyone with an ounce of decency
“Their outrageous animal cruelty.” Bitta generalisation there. You just played yourself, you horrible yoke.
Did you think there was no animal cruelty in the video, you know, the whole point of the video hitting the headlines, or did it fly over your small head?
The whole point of the video hitting the headlines, was the spectacle, empty head. I’m sure you care deeply about the welfare of animals.
Looks like the Canada Goose Sweepstakes….
