The votes are in.

Last week, with a desirable €25 Golden Disc Valentine’s Day voucher on offer, I asked you to name your favourite love song.

You answered in your dozens.

But there could be only one winner

Third Place:

I Will by The Beatles

Rosette of Sirius writes:

A sweet lovely little melody from Paul McCartney and was meant just as that. A lovely little love song. Lyrics are perfect and not complicated as love can indeed be. Or get. So for the day that’s in it, have a listen and enjoy!

Runner-up:

Easy Living by Billie Holiday

Barry The Hatchet writes:

When we first started going out, the car only had an aul tape-deck and we only had one tape. The Best of Billie Holiday came with us everywhere. Times have moved on, the tape-deck is long gone, the tape is lost. But this is still our song <3

Winner:

Dance Me To The End Of Love by Leonard Cohen

Millie Vanilly Strikes Again writes:

Dedicated to the husband, who can’t dance, but will still twirl me round the living room to this later. For all the he comes home with no flowers, chocolates or card for me, but always with a something special for our little lady.

Thanks all.

Insult to injury, salt to a gaping wound, Millie’s love letter to that fella wins, oh the humanity!

            ah no

first condom I ever had, I wrote ‘louise’ on the wrapping. louise lived down the road. it was a bit like the way villains in films would write the name of their nemesis on a bullet and keep it for that fateful day. I never actually got to, eh, shoot louise. anyway, point being: I’d say millie will buy a load of johnnies and write ‘Bertie’ on every one

I suppose if she were to write it while I’m wearing them that might go some way to making amends.

  2. Slightly Bemused

There were some fantastic entries, and songs I had forgotten I knew. I say thanks to all who entered. My weekend was wonderfully enlivened.

  3. Lilly

A great choice, well done Millie! Saw him in Kilmainham about eight years ago. He wished Michael D – who was there too – a happy birthday.

My comments aren’t appearing for some reason. I suspect I am on the naughty step.

    Perhaps for breaking Bertie’s heart?
    (sorry again)

I got banned and worked myself into a RIGHT snit. I’m still not right after it, to be honest.

          2. Janet, I ate my avatar

oh there was some crazy modding going on a while back, I also got in a snit, so I wrote an email to get to the bottom of it, got a good explanation of the lie of the land and why from John and felt a bit better..

Interesting. I didn’t realise it was a ‘thing’. I take back all the ‘shove it up yizzers HEWPS yiz FUPPFACES’ that I shouted internally, in that case.
            Onwards and upwards.

Good to see you back on here!
I agree, the modding was a bit OTT for a while but it seems to have calmed again thankfully, lovely to see all of our dysfunctional family back again :)

    Jeez. Horsh decision. Poor Bertie.
I think I’ll leave for another few months. #BeKind my orse.

Congrats Millie and spend it unwisely!

Thanks to all for their kind words, I don’t even know what a cuckold is but it sounds great!
