Is it interesting to point out that the most in-depth research into virology is carried out at Queen’s University Belfast? Professors and Doctors in virology from Ireland have to pass on their “findings” to The British Government, who in turn pass their “findings” onto OXbridge types, who’ll confirm that the Irish types know their chemistry. The one suspected as having the virus, from the North is isolated in The Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast. I’d be more than confident in saying that the profs from just down the road at QUB would love to have access to that random person who may, or not have contracted the virus.

The Royal Victoria had a pretty good virology department focussed on tackling the H1N1 virus I thought?

MI5 are obviously trying to prevent a united ireland by infecting us with the coronavirus.

Aren’t the MSM slipping up badly.? No report of a mass transfer of the virus during the SF information nights. I’m sure the MSM will be calling for the cancellation of any future meetings. If they’re not cancelled it’ll be ‘SF plays russian roulette with Corona’. If they are cancelled it’ll be ‘Lack of interest causes cancellation’

By the way, don’t read the newspapers that are left for free reading at railway stations, hotel lobbies, as all sorts of hands will have come in contact with them.

    1. Cian

Wow. You are speculating about what the MSM might write…and then giving out about the stuff that you just made up!

BTW don’t read the newspapers that are left for free reading at railway stations, hotel lobbies as they are rubbish.

Glad you agree that the Indo is rubbish. That’s a quote a jump for a FFGer to make.

Sea of red in the markets this morning after the Dow imploded last night. Another huge fall predicted when it opens later.
Airlines and travel particularly badly hit today. If you’re holding Ryanair don’t sell – their big cash pile is going to come in very handy.
Bail out of pretty much everything else.
I absolutely love a financial crisis.

      Buy nothing at the moment.
Wait until the market correction has flattened then pick the stocks that you think will recover the fastest.
In these circumstances I always go for Blue Chip companies with strong capital reserves.A bit of a no-brainer I know but if you’re buying cheap then high risk speculation seems pointless.
People are always going to need to eat and drink but going on that Far East holiday less so.
The financial implications of coronaviorus could be enormous – Trump will find the November election far harder if the US has tipped into recession by then.A summer of bad economic news in Europe will weigh heavily on EU minds during trade talks with the UK.

Brent Crude dips below 50 bucks a barrel for the first time since December 2018.
It’ll soon be the optimum time to fill your central heating oil tanks.

          Hi Charger
I know nothing about trading shares but this interests me..

one of the ones us CS students and the likes of the BES lads talk a lot about is tech shares, especially Apple

Given afaik every device they make comes out of China and the last report they issued in December says they have 6.61 days worth of inventory in the supply chain how has their share price not been annihilated yet? I know it’s taking a hit but I’d have thought wiped, no?

        2. Charger Salmons

The share price only gets annihilated if everyone sells.
Apple would be held by big institutional investors like the Sage of Omaha who may have bought it significantly cheaper over a long period of time so why sell now ?
The share price is down 14% on the week but the fact that markets have failed to register even a slight rebound on any day this week is a major concern.
Typically the market would rebound for at least a few days as investors take the opportunity to ” buy the dip. ”
Who knows ? That’s what makes times of market volatility like this such great fun for the amateur investor.
I cashed out my entire Hargreaves Landsdown portfolio about 10 days ago and will just sit tight for a while to see what happens.Shares were vastly overpriced anyway and due a correction.Who knew it would come from people eating bats in China !

…are you sure you are not mixing up the wishy washy yankee stuff with Good Scottish Brent Crude…don’t think the stuff you’ve been appropriating from the soon to be independent Scottish has fallen below $50 yet…

        4. 01101101 01100011

          interesting
so in crashy scenarios like this it can be a game of chicken with these billionaire lads, y? a bit detached from the basics of whatever the entity IS up to like making and selling their widgets? in theory Boeing could go and fly another couple of planeloads to their finish line but yet the share price would stay relatively intact because “they’re too big to fail”? it’s all a bit fake then really, isn’t it?

        5. bisted

…thanks Charger…but…still not below the $50…if you can buy it cheaper I’m sure there would be lots of people would like to talk to you…suggest you get in touch with one of the major airline CEOs – most of them are Irish!

        6. Charger Salmons

Fisted – I’ll try one more time and do pay attention this time.
I wrote earlier that Brent Crude had ” dipped ” below $50 a barrel.
Have a look at the one-day chart below and you’ll see it has been yoyoing above and below the $50 mark today.
As of 3.14pm it’s currently trading at $49.91.
I didn’t realise you were this slow.

Gas lads these HSE heads. Just listening to Morning Ireland. They are saying that if anyone returns from an infected area, and have symptoms, they should self-isolate. Bryan Dobson then asked whether members of the same household should also self-isolate. The answer is ‘No’.

    1. ReproBertie

Unless something has changed in the last 12 hours, there’s no point self isolating unless symptomatic.

      1. Brother Barnabas

        funny you say that

convincing evidence now that covid-19 is eradicated from system with a blood alcohol concentration level of approx 0.5%

only thing that’s been found to kill it – get fupping sozzled

problem, though, is at that level, you’re more than likely in a coma and at risk of death due to respiratory failure

          1. Brother Barnabas

are you suggesting one should both – drink around 19 bottles of wine plus inject self with bleach – to be absolutely safe ?

          2. GiggidyGoo

Janet, do you prefer it pasteurized? Or would you be happy if it just came up to your chest?
(Kind of reference to Benny Hill’s song ‘Ernie’)
