Stop using oppressive language SOQ, according to the World Health Organisation you shouldn’t use language like “infected”….

I’m not even joking, well I am, but the WHO aren’t.
The WHO should be renamed Woke Health Organisation with this nonsense…

      From the WHO twitter account:

“DO – talk about people “acquiring” or “contracting” #COVID19

DON’T – talk about people “transmitting COVID-19” “infecting others” or “spreading the virus” as it implies intentional transmission & assigns blame”

In fairness that British lad didn’t really get a fair crack on the whip – his face plastered on the front page of all the newspapers, alongside the headline “super-transmitter” or whatever it was.

        1. Clampers Outside

But only an idiot would apply blame, surely…. Maybe I hold the public in too high regard.

I saw a native in the supermarket today wearing a mask. It looked a bit OTT. Glad I’m not living in Lahinch all the same.

I heard Prof. Luke O’Neill speaking about the virus the other day. He was very informative and dispelled a lot of the scare-mongering being seen in the media. I think he was talking to David McWilliams on his podcast maybe? I’ll see if I can find it and link it.

BBC are off their heads… yesterday they had a wholly serious, scolding even, piece on saying people are not taking this serious enough, followed shortly after with a piece saying people need to calm down!

Fight!… as Broadsheet editors would say :)

I’m not sure what ‘media’ you’re on about. The Irish version of it are, as usual, doing the bidding of their friends in the establishment, who are massively underplaying the risks here and making fundamental errors now; that will really come back to bite.
The U.K has been advising that anyone coming back from a high risk area was to self-isolate. Ireland’s approach was to self-isolate only if displaying symptoms, which is just brainless. The close contact for 15 minutes thing is also just straight up stupid and has no basis in fact at all. Our lapdog media didn’t question this either
The head of the HSE is a career semi-state/public service HR drone who started life as a shop steward. I have zero faith in him to change anything in the HSE, never mind handle a crisis. His lived a coseted working life so far with no evidence of his competence to handle an organisation of the size, budget and monumental inertia as the HSE

More people are regularly killed by road traffic but we can’t be possibly be bothered to do more to prevent those deaths.

Still more likely to be killed by heart disease.

    1. Nigel

Really? Seems like there are road safety campaigns and healthy heart campaigns going on all the time, or at least regularly. If there’s anyhthing to compare it to, it’s climate change: something we could actually do something about if we took it as seriously.

      1. Clampers Outside

Hell sure, and we can even “reverse climate change”, isn’t that right Nigel.
And I’d better put extra feed out for my herd of unicorns.

          1. Clampers Outside

Why? Sure they mean nothing to the like of you anyway. The like who think women have a penis, and Self ID makes one a ‘woman’. Words are meaningless in your lala land in fairness.

          2. Nigel

If you’re incapable of actually making some point or expressing an opinion about climate change please just say so and spare us the swerving.

          3. Nigel

I see. That’s the sort of informed commentary and thoughtful opinion we’ve come to expect from you, I suppose.

          4. Clampers Outside

Like your “informed commentary” on puberty blockers, they being harmless and / or reversible? And your insistence that anyone questioning their use was getting in the way of medical help for suicidal kids… like that kind of “informed commentary” you’ve been throwing about?

            Hmmmm…

Truth is out now, that that was ill-informed, badly researched, stupid and dangerous commentary bordering on bullying those who disagreed with you.

Thank Jebus for actual research not biased by ideological activism.
            Have a read….

          5. Nigel

So your informed opinion on climate change is: penises. I’m genuinely car-crash curious to know what it is you think you’re being so clever about, but with you it’s just penis penis penis.

          6. Clampers Outside

No. It’s penis, penis, penis with you as you think men and women have them.
It’s just one penis with me, as in a man has one, not a woman :0)

            .

The tangent Nigel, as you seem to have gone off on one of your faux ‘i don’t know what’s going on here’ moments is, that you lecture others about informed commentary, and commentary based on science yet you believe….

            – puberty blockers to be harmless
            – puberty blockers to be reversible
            – puberty blockers to lower suicidal risk in gender dysphoric individuals and/or persons with mental health issues presenting with self diagnosis of GD
            – and so on….

The point of bringing this up is that your own past commentary was not informed nor scientific but ideological, asthenia above demonstrates.

The connection to believing that we can “reverse climate change” is simply that to believe such you would have to believe you can reverse the earth’s planetary multi-millenia long cycle, which is as off the wall as ‘women have a penis’.

Digest that in your own time, good lad. I understand from the above it may take a while.

          7. Nigel

Creepy obsession is creepy. I admire how you can hold up both ends of that particular debate you’re having with the me that appears to be renting space in your head. Not healthy, bro. Let it go.

Of course we can reverse anthropogenic climate change, by reducing the amount of human-generated carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Since most of that carbon dioxide was generated in the last few decades, and the process only really began with the industrial revolution, we’re not actually talking about reversing a multi-milennial planetary cycle at all. Some of the effects will be irreversible, some of the damage will be permanent, and the later we leave it the more difficult it will be and the longer it will take, but we’re going to have to get to it sooner or later.

          8. Clampers Outside

At least you put in the qualification of anthropogenic this time, but I would still contend that slowing to normal planetary cycle is not the same as “reverse” and with that I do believe the idea of any reverse is still ridiculous.

I do love how you won’t comment on your previous form, now that the science is in. Hard pill to swallow, those ideological pills.

          9. Nigel

You’d want to be some sort of clown to insist that any usage of ‘climate change’ needs to be modified to ‘anthropogenic climate change’ or you’ll assume they’re talking aout multi-millenial planetary cycles, or that reversing climate change means anything other than reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to a level that will mean a more stable planetray system while mitigating the effects of climate change on the ground.

My’ previous form’ in terms of your creepy obsession has always been that these things are best left to medical professionals acting in the best interest of the individuals concerned, and this ugly culture-war intrusion into such decisions is appalling and harmful.

          10. Clampers Outside

The point which you are well aware of that has been made before is that it was not medical professionals but ideologues calling the shots.

And when those like myself spoke out against this, you went full-tilt progressive knight spewing hate, mocking anyone who mentioned kids needing protection and made accusations of transphobic commentary supposedly hurting trans persons.

All of that is now a confirmed poo-show from you, nothing more than you going off on one.

It’s time you swallowed the God damned pill you buffoon, that you supported the ideologues when others spoke out against their anti-science full-on ideological approach to treating gender dysphoria. On that there is no denying.

And it’s not a culture war thing, it’s a medical practice thing, and you sat firmly on the side of stupid throwing accusation after accusation. Swallow the pill of your own ridiculous behaviour and be done with it.

          11. Nigel

Oh, ideologues are trying to call the shots, are they? Mmmmhmm. I see. Yes, I can see that. Indeed you are.

You’ve ranted about this creepy obsession of yours ad nauseum. Anything more to say on climate change?

  4. Lilly

Seven new cases, yikes. The HSE goons rolled out each night for the 9 o’clock news do not inspire.

    1. Ringsend Incinerator

Surprise. 13 cases now…. hope they all get well soon. There will be more for sure.
