Taking Up The Double Seat

at

At the Dublin Bus depot in Ringsend, Dublin

Martin Wall, in The Irish Times, reports:

A transport union wants capacity on buses and trains to be significantly reduced to provide more space between passengers during the coronavirus outbreak.

The National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) said there should be a major scaling back on the numbers permitted to travel on individual buses and trains to keep in line with “social distancing” recommendations put forward by public health experts.

HSE advice in respect of the outbreak is that people should “maintain social distancing, ie leave at least 1m (3ft) distance between yourself and other people, particularly those who are coughing, sneezing”.

I’ve had more “initimate” experiences due to overcrowding than I care to remember

    Just shout loudly-

JAZUS I HAVEN’T SEEN CROWDS LIKE THIS SINCE I WAS IN ITALY LAST WEEK.

    Loads of space then.

one I just copped onto yesterday – takeaway coffee – not the barista or the bar service end of it but the LIDS you pick up to put onto the cup

usually the lids for your takeaway cup are intersleeved together tightly in a stack at the milk/sugar/bin stand (I have rarely seen dispensers that pop them out one by one) you normally have to work to pick them apart to get a lid for yourself….so does everyone else who may/may not have washed their hands properly

    just sayin

I never take the top,or bottom one normally anyway. I always split the pack. Still, with this, the edges of them all are exposed.
Plus, when I exit somewhere that there’s a handle, like the toilet door in the public toilets, I touch the top or bottom and pull with my little finger. That is, the areas that most people wouldn’t touch. I’d exit the krapper by using a piece of toilet paper to open the lock, then flush and throw the paper into the bowl.
And they are normal actions, not just now.

Presumably all the schools being closed and people working fro home will thin out the numbers on busses from next week.

What about the Plus-Sized? This is discrimination against two-seaters by default.
