That Escalated Quickly

President Donald Trump said he will suspend all travel from Europe to the U.S. for the next 30 days, the most far-reaching measure yet in the administration’s efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The restrictions, which will not apply to the U.K or Ireland., will go into effect Friday at midnight, he said Wednesday in an Oval Office address.

Only non-US citizens restricted (because US constitution, I guess), only those aliens who have been in Schengen countries in the 14 days prior to arriving in the US.

Leo should be grand – he hasn’t been forrin’ for ages.

“…suspends the entry of most foreign nationals who have been in certain European countries at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival to the United States. These countries, known as the Schengen Area…”

“…does not apply to legal permanent residents, (generally) immediate family members of U.S. citizens, and other individuals who are identified in the proclamation.”

I bet the bowl of deadly shamrock still gets it immediately after the photo shoot, though.

It seems that way…common sense says Brits can carry the virus, too. Garage must have been advising him.

Does this mean the Government can’t have their usual Paddy’s day shindig in Washington??

I see Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have contracted the virus in Down Under. Are they the first celebs to go public with it? Think so.

Himself and the missus must have been in prolonged contact with an infected person..

So Tom Hanks has instagrammed that he’s suffering from Coronavirus.

Given that there are only a few people worldwide suffering from this virus (relatively speaking), what are the odds?

He’s been in the news a lot lately – remember the face he made when Ricky Gervais called Hollywood actors ‘paedophiles’ at the Oscar ceremonies.

This virus seems to be quite selective – a lot of politicians (half the Iranian cabinet and the British Minister for Health) suffering from it too.

Is there a special strain that hits politicians and A-List celebrities?

And no children seriously affected? Never heard of an illness like this before.

    Any thoughts, Broadsheeters?

are you saying what I think you’re saying?

chris de burgh is going to get it?

does he have any underlying health issue?

I’m assuming you don’t have kids? At least one of my kids has had a runny nose / temperature / cough on a daily basis since 2008. I should have bought shares in Kleenex. Chances are half the kids in the country have it but a parent wouldn’t notice the difference.

It’s hitting people who are well travelled and mingle with others who do a lot of travel.

Expanding on my comment above re children. I suspect that children are, in fact, the main spreaders of the disease. I would suggest that all children are immediately isolated from the adult population in some facility somewhere for at least 14 days. I would recommend this be implemented immediately….flicks through skiing brochure

But it would just take one, only a single one, of those children to turn put to be the next Chris De Burgh.

when I said ‘productive’, I clearly meant dignified citizens that make a constructive contribution

if a child grew up to be a little lizardman, he would never be released
