    Sex Toys?!?!

Did you ever think ye’d see the day where the front page of De Cork Examiner would say
Sex Toy sales are soaring as people are urged to stay at home

That Dealz Lube will come in handy alright

  2. Kerryview

I can’t make any sense of the VAT story in the examiner. Revenue says small firms need only make their returns on time, without payment for now, the examiner says they want deferment. is that not the same thing?

    1. ReproBertie

The Return is the form the firms send in. It will tell Revenue how much VAT they will be paying. The actual payment can wait though.

    2. George

And it isn’t their money. The consumer pays VAT the business doesn’t it just passes it on minus the VAT they paid to other businesses.

      1. ReproBertie

I would say david is breaking out the old hits if we’re getting “The EU is coming for our corporation tax”.

The feckin 1950’s and earlier called the Daily Star… idiotic headline. Guess what? A lot of women love football and a lot of men regard their partners as their best friends, it’s especially now that we all need to support and talk to each other… idiots!

Go feck yourself Racing Post. If you’d any semblance of civic duty you’d be urging attendees of Cheltenham to self isolate, you greedy short-sighted idiots.

I hate anything that is off message at the moment, the acting Tánaiste urged the media to play their part Wednesday and help the medical staff get their message out about helping reduce the spread. Ahhhhhh!!!!

Callan’s Kicks yesterday on de radjo was quite good and particularly acerbic towards the Horsey types over there. Like it or loath it, it made me laugh. And not a lot of that yesterday.

I said yesterday I was wondering if stupid was maybe a 3D space- now I am certain of it. Last night, a pub in Dublin posted on its Facebook page that it was offering free Corona beer upon arrival. https://postimg.cc/ZBx9rrPC

In late night venues, because of the loud music, people cannot hear unless they are shouting into each other’s ears and with drink taken, safe distances are just not going to happen.

I really don’t think government will have any option but to close the bars and clubs because some people are so irresponsible, they really do need a nanny.

And just another point on this topic- the argument for the indoor smoking ban was primarily based on the health and safety of the workers. Right now, staff will lose their jobs if they don’t turn up for work so where is the consideration for them now? And, given the unsafe practices which are occurring, when someone gets sick or God forbid dies, who is liable?

Do race goers have a special type of phone? Blackberry? Looks like it in the photo in the telegraph.

Coveney warns against travel to the EU, but says specifically not the UK? What’s all that about?

      1. Cian

But seriously, we’ve spent the last 3 years doing everything to prevent a hard border with NI. Now you’re pushing for one?

        1. GiggidyGoo

You’re away with the fairies this morning. Talk about one great step for mankind.

Just in case you didn’t get the memo from Coveney. As reported in The Examiner

“Mr Coveney announced last night on Twitter that “in light of rapidly changing conditions & restrictions across a number of EU countries, my Dept is now advising people to exercise ‘a high degree of caution’ before deciding to travel to other EU States”.
Although he later clarified that this advice did not apply to the UK.”
As bad as Harris. If he wanted to make a point of the UK being no longer in the EU, he could have been clearer and defined particular areas of the UK he didn’t want it applied to. But apart from that, why would he not apply the same travel advice relating to the Mainland UK – the UK is a lot more than the 6 counties?

          1. D

I think it’s all about our super special relationship with the UK and the US, and flights to and fro.
            I think.
            But who cares really.

          1. GiggidyGoo

So, it has to be a ‘main’ area of infection in order to take steps to contain it? Not an area that has had confirmed cases – specifically Gloucestershire, from where 35,000 fun guys and gals are returning to Ireland over a day or two?
Well, you mightn’t be worried, but a lot of us are, as the figures climb.

I’m taking a small bit of pleasure out of watching Trump being found out at long last

but then I realise there’s another idiot operating the controls 67 mile to the east of me

how do we end up with these nutjobs in charge?

      1. V

        +V

But Trump may be more politically and personally – since they’re the same thing with him, Screwed, by the Closures of both Disney’s & Universal’s Theme Parks

His Make America Great America has fallen
And his Keep America Great America is a goner

Q better get the finger out and get the Great Awakening sorted with a gig before US utilities start cutting off delinquent customers because they can’t pay their last bill,

and no-one will know Bill Gates is selling the Covid-19 vaccine, funded by the Clinton Foundation,
All – along with Buffett, Soros, Zuckerburger, the Twitter lad, the Murdoch Dynasty (except Wendy), Johnson, the Kate and Will slice of Windsor, and Harry Styles were all already vaccinated

And a bunch of Cardinals btw
And the US women’s soccer team

        Tis all happening now

          1. Nigel

Genuinely curious as to whether this is ironic or sincere. Q has degenerated into a ridiculous mess of magical thinking and antisemitism. Are we distancing ourselves?

          1. V

Fair enough if it’s an act of War
And it’s a deployment of weapona

But who’s at war with who

            Like who started it
            There’s always one

          2. some old queen

@V- well it is an almighty coincidence that this broke out right beside China’s only level 4 bio warfare lab for a start but there has been a series of such incidents before elsewhere.

It is highly unlikely that the Chinese government released it on its own people but initially they did try and cover it up by silencing those who were speaking out so- more likely an accident.

If Francis Boyle is right then there is a vaccine of sorts ready to go but whiter it works or not is another story. Another coincidence is that Bill Gates has just resigned from Micro$oft of course.

Check that youtube embedded vid- he been blacklisted by all MSM which means he definitely has something to say.

Interesting that no new cases have been reported in Italy, Iran, Spain, Germany or France. Is it that there are no new infections or have they just stopped reporting them? Sat images of mass graves being dug in Iran doing the rounds of course.

Germany’s mortality rate is extraordinarily low- is it the treatments given or demographics of those infected maybe? There is certainly something which is keeping those people alive because similar case numbers to France but 70 less deaths. I wonder if genetics are playing a part?

The black lines there are what is new since October. But you should have been able to read between the lines that I was going to say something of that order. Maybe the print version of the guardian did a better job of explaining what all the fuss was about, but I doubt it.

It’s just one satellite image and in the grand scheme of mass graves it’s not exactly top ten material.

          visible from space ‘roll eyes’

        2. D

well for one the guardian is wrong, the nyt published a video, not pictures. if you look at the wapo where the pictures were published, you can see the headline ‘visible from space’ and then if you zoom out on their photo you can see the area with the ‘mass graves’ – a bit of a ditch. my back garden is also visible from space by that metric.

it’s a complete non story. what’s more interesting is how even with the vaguest bit of looking into it, how obviously it has been completely blown out of proportion.

ps cheers for deleting my earlier response here, website.

          1. D

probably in a grave or graves of some description, possibly in the cemetary

            to say

            > Sat images of mass graves being dug in Iran doing the rounds of course.

implies something that is not happening.

it is a singular image of two 100 yard ditches.

if you want to believe that Iran has started digging multiple mass graves visible from space, that’s great.

            moo to you too

          2. some old queen

They have to be buried somewhere and given the religious culture- very quickly.

Is it not reasonable to assume that a big hole is the now choice of the Iranian government?

well it doesn’t help that France still have gillet jaune match and riots … business as usual

Kelly McPhee, 31, a bartender who works two jobs in Chicago, said the recent drop in prices will allow her to take a vacation for the first time in two years.

Recently, her friends began planning a trip to Phoenix, Ariz., for spring training, but at $500 round trip, it was way out of her budget.

“And then this coronavirus thing happened and I saw people on Twitter saying that if you need to book a ticket do it now because no one wants to travel anymore,” she said. “I looked online and I was like — oh my gosh! — it’s only $150 now.”

She’s not worried about the virus, she said, “partly because I’m young, and partly because we’ve gone through this before. Ebola. Swine flu. Y2K. It just seems like the next thing.”

      https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/13/travel/coronavirus-travel-deals.html

you can just hear the chirpy intonation in her voice as she says that [shudder]
