“b-but doc, I thought we wiped them out!”
Ah here, what’s with the goggles? Is it protection from PC screen radiation? I notice those who aren’t in immediate proximity aren’t wearing any.
it’s just optics
You win the internet today!
Genuine question- if these selfie clowns have nothing better to be doing then who is actually managing this crisis?
Bet I know what Leo’s saying in the last photo!
He’s clearly wishing Simon would stop talking to him while he’s having a wee.
They are some photos in all fairness..
look at them all there at close quarters. you’d swear there wasn’t a plague on or something.
breathe on me, when your not well, I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carrrr ona on
Not only do superheroes not wear capes, but thanks to Varadkar’s incompetence the unfortunate till staff in Penneys, who have no choice but to work, are forbidden to wear gloves. Protecting the vulnerable my swiss.
Why on earth are the shopping centres and Civic Offices still open?
Forbidden by whom? Was Leo supposed to issue an edict that all retail staff must wear gloves? Are we just blaming him for everything now?
The Dáil passed legislation late last night that explicitly forbids Penneys staff (specifically till staff) from wearing gloves.
No. Wait. it didn’t.
You mean the Dáil failed to pass the legislation? Probably thanks to Varadkar’s incompetence.
That last photo would be perfect for a caption competition, especially as there is an arrow pointing at Varadkar…
Should we not mention gloves?
+1
We just happen to have a box of vinyl gloves at home and I’ve taken to carrying a few pairs in my bag as an extra precaution when I have to leave the house. It really can’t hurt to be too careful if we want to take this seriously.
Out of curiosity – what would warrant you putting on the gloves?
I know of one person that has done First Aid and they keep a pair in the car – to be used if they come across someone that is bleeding.
The virus can survive on surfaces. So if you’re opening doors – there are handles, or glass doors for example, on which the virus may be living – so by adding another barrier in addition to hand washing and sanitiser, it’s just another means of being careful.
I also fall into a high risk category, on two counts, and it’s been stressed that I need to be vigilant, so I’ve decided to be over zealous.
Is one of those categories that you are rich? I ask because that is how it appears to be infecting the rest of ‘the herd’.
I wish. Pregnant with underlying respiratory illness, which is supremely unglamorous.
oh congratulations !!!
Thanks Janet x
Congratulations.. I hope all goes splendidly fantastic for you and the little one..
Congratulations though!
Anudder Broadsheet Baby!!!!!
Hon’ Mill
Cheers folks :D
Congrats pal…
No, really! :)
Cheers, Bertie dearest :)
See how I done that? Pulling info is easy.
Stay safe millie- you can still wash his hands eh?
I could do that, couldn’t I? ;)
Congrats Millie, stay safe.
Aw, bless, Milly! Bless!
Seriously- all the best wishes in the world!
Putting fuel in your car?
Hey Millie, just read the thread, you’re about to have a baby -yay! My mom (RIP) was a district mid-wife – I do not know how many hundreds of babies she delivered in Tyrone – I hope you have a mid-wife like Mom. Ádh mhór!!
Cheers Shayna. I’ve had nothing but lovely midwives and hospital staff so far, but it’s a pity we don’t have district midwives. I’d say your mam had some stories to tell!
And then some… She hated driving. Tyrone is a big county – when I was learning to drive, after school, or week-ends I’d drive her to her appointments in unbelievably remote situations – no sat nav back in the early 80s – directions weren’t that great. So, no district mid-wifes? I thought it was a given that community mid-wifes exist. Yikes!
my great granny was a mid wife in Tyrone, imagine could be cousins

And he’ll tease you

What it takes to make a pro blush

he’s got covid 19 eyes
I bloodly love that song, it always goes on when too much drink has been taken
Excellent italia’90!
I’m reminded of the advice I got from the vet — If you can see the whites of the eyes, that means they are scared
I recall reading once that humans are amongst the very few animals whose white of the eyes are normally visible, If I recall correctly the suggestion was so that as hunters we could give non verbal signals to each other. [trying to find the source – will post when or if I can find it]
Dogs can tell what we want based on looking at our eyes and where we are looking.
okay, after a quick check: https://pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/why-we-show-the-whites-of-our-eyes
Interesting – I wonder is that why people squint when they are angry – it hides the whites-of-the-eyes??
Interesting idea! I never thought of that, but I do know that hiding one’s eyes is a key to keeping intentions secret.
And from personal experience, I can tell you that if you arrive at a checkpoint, you should remove sunglasses. They do want to see your eyes!
After a very quick Google search apparently squinting also happens when people are targetting a prey. Has to be unlearned for snipers.
Trying to find source, but thatks, Cian, for the thought!
Simon Harris must be ultra-angry then.
no need for them to be there at all. purely just to have a photo that looks like theyre tackling the virus. so stupid.
Joe Brolly has it well sussed. https://www.offtheball.com/football/leo-varadkar-joe-brolly-984476
Hey, ta for that – just listened to your link – is it just me, but did Joe Brolly make sense? He clearly loves the GAA. Derry in ’93? To be fair he was a good footballer. I see Joe Brolly quite often in my local M&S food store in Belfast – I’m on nodding terms – it has not progressed into a full-frontal Derry/Tyrone debacle. One of these days…
A GAA player / sports pundit and barrister for Eamon McCann and the Raytheon protestors is an expert on bringing people together and offering a country leadership and direction with his usual mouthing off. Obviously couldn’t wait until Sunday
Sense.
He’s a complete See You Next Tuesday.
A tad harsh there on Joe. I was sat beside my Dad in the Gerry Arthurs Stand in Clones in ’95 we were quite close to the side-line (Tyrone v Derry) Derry were warming up and Joe was stretching/limbering close to us – Dad stood up and shouted at Joe, “Joe, kiss my arse”. I did not know where to look. My dad was not a fan of Joe.
Wasting staffs time.
Genuine question- if these selfie clowns have nothing better to be doing then who is actually managing this crisis?
Hopefully someone more qualified?
I’d actually be happiest at this stage for them to be mouthpieces for the scientists, medics and statisticians who better know what they are talking about.
Fingers crossed!

You must have started on the sauce early on 18th. When you do eventually pass your leaving cert, maybe your musings will make some sense or you will be able to put them into comprehensible words together. In the meantime, remain happy in your ignorance.
